- A video of my 4-day trek of Mount Toubkal, the highest mountain in North Africa, situated in the Atlas Mountain range in Morocco.

Well done! What an experience! I had tears in my eyes watching you get to the top. Remembering all the hard things I’ve done in my life and kept going. We should all be very proud of ourselves. We can do hard things.

Well done Grace! Did a 3 week trek in the Atlas in 2008 , and did Toubkal at the end , and did find it hard due to the altitude . Remember saying goodbye to our mules at the end in Imlil , as they departed in the back of a lorry ! Mules and guides had been super for a whole 3 weeks . An experience I’ll remember forever ....now 75.

I’m in Morocco and I would like to do the climb alone but it seems I have to hire a guide/group. It’s hard to get information on this, do you know anyone done it alone?

Enjoyed that, did it 4 or 5 year ago and it brought back good memories. I did it with Mo and co too so it was good to see them.
I didn't suffer from the altitude luckily, but it's just down to bad luck and nothing else if you do suffer. From the refuge onward it was snow for me and I wasn't expecting it and tbh found it quite scary.

Good job 👏 👍. I'm a Moroccan in USA. I climbed that mountain 5 times .first time was very hard .I know exactly how you feel .
Have you by any chance done it in winter (January) once?
@@nalami2037 no I did it 3 times in summer and 1 time in the month to may and last time in the middle of June winter is hard .
@@nalami2037 I did it in winter, it's fun, the only issue is the cold, it reaches -18 C in the top, and if you don't breath correctly you can damage your lungs or get tired very quickly, you should also keep calm and walk in a constant rhythm
@@nalami2037 I would not do it alone it’s snows and cold weather on high altitude it can be dangerous unless if you are a pro hiker!

Hello, I am marwan 27 years old I am from Morocco I visited the area and experienced the same adventure and climbed to the top with difficulty. I will not forget the experience and marrakesh is 125 km from my city .

You did it !! Well done. There is another mountain in the high Atlas harder than Toubkal called M'goun 4071m 200km from Marrakech.
Good job Grace!; congrats!!! Never heard of this mountain before. FWIW: I was a seasonal guide on Rainier, last time was 2008. (I'm 66 now- and worn out). That season was 15 ascents, with 12 successful. (weather + client injuries).

Just done this - one of the most gruelling things I have ever done in my life. I was not prepared for how hard the altitude was going to hit me, and I overestimated my own fitness a bit. That being said, I made it to the top and down in one piece (thanks to the guides) and I'm incredibly proud to have done so

Altitude is no joke - ideally you have a few days at altitude to acclimate...of course, in reality, that is rarely the case. There are some decent drugs to help stave off the headaches (for next time).
As an example my daughter plays college soccer and she always struggles when she first goes back to school as her school is like 3000' higher than where we reside. Any significant elevation change can make a difference.
Appreciate your trip, very interesting, beautiful place of which I had no knowledge of at all. That is always welcomed. The world is a big place you know. I had little doubt you would make it. ; )
