    my goal is tbh learn both street skateboarding and freestyle skateboarding... i have started my journy with street skateboarding and i am still a beginner so i will learn from each one of these like 50 tricks from street sb and 50 tricks from freestyle cuz they look both sick especially when combining both of them :)

    Mike, I learned my first skateboard trick thanks to you!
    I've been skating for two months, just bombing hills (I've been BMXing for over 30 years) figured things would just develop naturally out of going as fast as I can; it's my bike philosophy. Anyway, I was waiting for some pedestrians to move and your video was what I watched before I went out so I tried some stuff and landed a finger flip after ten or so goes! I can't even ollie yet dude! I'm so stoked it's hilarious; even more stoked than when I do a huge bike gap at 25mph; it's the achievement of what feels near impossible that matters to me, not how big it looks to others.
    I took skating up to inspire my daughter cos my BMXing scares her and it's totally worked; she loves to scoot now, loves watching your videos.
    So yeah, I'm so stoked can you tell?! Love your vibes, found you thru Braille. Dope that you sponsor Yuta too, that dude is so sick; he represents the best attitudes and you support that, so dope. Much love from Killingworth UK.

    I'm 37, going to give skateboarding another go. I used to skate when I was a kid, never been very good at all but... never totally lost interest and always enjoyed watching skate videos. Probably going for freestyle as I'm a coward and don't want to break a leg LOL. Anyway, thanks for your video, as soon as my new "old beginner" skate is here, I'll start practicing. Yeah, I'm probably gonna die LOL. Thanks for your video, very informative and helpful!

Exploring the world of freestyle has opened up so many things i can do to get that sense of achievement and have fun skating, rather than the constant feeling of failure, I'm really enjoying finding my style I landed my first (non sketchy looking) boneless today and it felt awesome!

I feel spoiled coming from the days when you were lucky if you knew somebody who could teach you, or had a VHS tape. Our skating involved a lot of (more often than not unsuccessful) guess work, lol. But, question... were those actual bottle caps being used as washers for the bushings?

I think it's something that should be included in a first list. cool video though.

    I could be wrong, so I apologize if I cause any confusion, but I'm pretty sure that's not a pogo. I think that's a 50-50. I think pogos are hands free, with the board held between the legs. I am not an experienced skater for the record. I'm just learning, but I have been doing a lot of research in classic freestyle. And I'm pretty sure that's a 50-50 (not as in the grind of course). Great job with the video though. I feel like this is the perfect list of fun and classic freestlye moves, that are actually realistic for a beginner to learn.

    What do we do if our boards are new , the tail is curved, and we can't afford those things you put on the nose/tail?

  • @christinemurray1444
    @christinemurray1444 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Pogo was a lot easier on the nose of my old 90s Santa Cruz than it is on my new 8.5 zero deck and the old one was even heavier with the huge wheels and standard Indys (current Indys not as wide)

    • @mike_osterman1
      @mike_osterman1  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That’s probably because that nose was mellower. Could have been shorter too. In general, mellow, shorter noses make for better pogo platforms

    I was doing alot of these back in high school 15+ years ago cause rodney and daewon were my favorite . Truck stands were one of my faves to do specially without hands. Might need to pull my deck out clean and re lube my old bones swiss bearings

    I've been learning on the whale tail. Is it normal to do walk the dogs on a single kick board like the WT? Thanks for your videos. So helpful and awesome!

    • @mike_osterman1
      @mike_osterman1  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey, that’s awesome! Yep, I do walk the dogs on all freestyle boards. They might be a tiny bit tougher because the nose and tail aren’t identical, but you’ll get used to it

    So question I skate street and freestyle and I ride a street board with loose trucks so going to primo/rail feels weird because of all the give in the trucks so should I tighten then or no

    Hey Mike how come you do the old school kickflip into switch stance do i have too do it like that or can I use my other foot and land normal ? i'm goofy

    • @mike_osterman1
      @mike_osterman1  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can totally do it that way. I learned to flip with my back foot and land Fakie/switch. Friends of mine like to flip the other way. You can also flip with the back foot and turn 90* in the opposite direction to land in regular stance
