Also, thank you for reminding me of how underground cables are well worth the extra expense to install and maintain. It's utterly appalling that in our advanced society, we still allow PYLONS and other exposed electrical infrastructure to exist. We might as well be using lead pipes!

@M W TH-cam's comment sweepers are AI that are known to accidentally delete comments even if they aren't spam or hate content. This is because AI are unable to fully grasp the nuance of human language and so are given general guidelines as to what is to be considered spam. It isn't because of some secret plot against you. Although if *your* comments are being deleted then it's probably because you're an openly racist trash-person.

i love these ms dos style games! its all the "unintentionally scary graphical limitations used to purposefully scary effect" of the playstation style games but in 2d :) it really lets you focus on the art even moreso than the gameplay. im somebody who plays games like these for the narratives and cutscenes so thats my jam :D
I grew up with obscure DOS games, and I really like these new DOS inspired indies.

I feel like this game is a reference to the unnecessarily frightening videos a lot of people were traumatised by at school. I don't know how it is in the other countries, but almost everyone in the UK under the age of 35 has horrible memories from Social Education videos on either:
- Pylons / Sub-stations
- Alcohol
- Solvent abuse
- Fires
- Heroin
Duh, you can _never_ traumatize schoolkids enough.
Sometimes, terror is the best deterrent against violators.
@@prisuners6275 My experience was that the videos terrified the wits out of all the kids who were too sensible to do it in the first place (and often made them temporarily phobic of, say, the smell of strong glue or their mum having a glass of wine with dinner) and all the kids who were at risk didn't pay attention or just found it funny.
Don't forget safety PSAs about farmland and stuff. Remember Apaches?
I mean to be fair, his parents did move into a house within a few feet of pylon so they were kinda asking for it.

@@whitehorse8832 I think he means the jumpscare. The scary part is mr. Pylon sharing the face as all the bad guys, and the celebration squad heading to your location. The pylons are the top of the creature, the body is underground.
...Why did they need the kid to do it though? I mean even before he was posesed the hermit wanted that to happen anyways, maybe he was slowly already going crazy? I dunno it still doesn't make too much sense to me. I guess the cult was just too lazy to do it themselves so they got a kid to do it, even though it'd have probably been less trouble to do it themselves anyways. Good for you if you got hopelessness out of that, but it didn't really do much for me.
To this day this game makes me think. *Why* is letting the Pylon Man capture you/failure not an option? Is it that you are meant for the Mettel Mother herself, and the Man & Hermit are unworthy?

When I was a boy a police officer took my class to a local substation where you could see various items like balls and bags strewn around
And he asked us who could count them all first, any child that pointed to an object but let their hand go beyond the fence was suddenly scared shitless when he let off a capgun near their ear
What I'm trying to say is British people have an instinctive fear of pylons and associated infrastructure that is drilled into them at an early age
We always had a guy from the nearby power company come out to teach us the dangers of electricity and specifically power lines. He even brought a small model with working power lines along with him
games like this one create a genuine sense of living fear.

Dude says "hey, if you see something wrong with a Pylon, tell me immediately!", a bit later, main character sees a bad Pylon, and says "remember to tell an adult if you see a bad pylon!"....then decides to ignore all that advice and go home for some dinner.

I remember my elementary school having these MS-DOS edutainment games despite *NOT* being MS-DOS computers.
They were pretty tame.
This was very simple, yet creative and unsettling at the same time. I really like it.

Most of the horror games are scarier with this kind of graphism, I like it
really cool, I really like the pylon monster's designs. my only critisism would be theres too much dialogue. I think it would hit the 'unintentionaly scary' vibe more if things were shown instead of told more. Like I feel the Hermit's talk in the cave could have been cut in half or removed, with the frequency scrambler being found instead of given so theres not a moment to rest/not feel alone. Just an idea.

In all honesty, on day 2, 5:39, that alleged "Pylon Man" is responsible for summoning these "Imitators", because the officer said "Once the pylon company sends in their personnel", meaning he either didn't recognize nor see the man as the pylon company worker.
Those blood, I suppose those are the kid's parents, pylon company workers, and those who probably met their gruesome fate.
Then you can see 9:42, the man with that nose along with his pose that looks resemble the pylon. Yea, I am convinced the guy is responsible for summoning the Imitators, since the officer looked normal, and wasn't even possessed at all.
Also, the Hermit 11:35, isn't even a human either, just look at that face. Since he's the guy who provided a solution, he then got possessed to prevent further instructions that can aid players.

I currently live in the corn states area of the Midwest and where I live it’s mostly wooden poles carrying them and also only go along the road. But then say two or three miles out you begin to see the metal ones stretch on for miles in the grass. Well, they WERE in the grass.

This one reminds me of that promotional game for The Wind.
At first I was going to say as much as I dig the style, it felt a little too obvious it was trying to be a "scary game" but now that I think about it, this exact premise would of made a really really cool late 70s or early 80s horror movie. Standard slasher mystery but takes a twist into cosmic horror.
Imagine all the late 70s practical effect electrocution gore deaths in the film.
