I thought it magically floated across the largest sea on the planet, brought to Shore by hurricane season likely taking months or even years without spoiling.
If im going hungry in a desert island i CAN imagine a big banquet in the middle of the jungle with some ice cold beer to wash it down. Would i actually find one??? Maybe if im a woman starting in a "SURVIVAL" show.
They waited until the last couple of days to build a decorated, fancy camp, just in time for Bear Grylls to turn up and go _"Wow, you ladies are such good survivors,"_ after we just watched them spend six weeks sleeping on floors and coming close to dying at every turn without food conveniently turning up. Hell, they spent the first week split up, lost and without ANY real camp. Bear, what show do you think we all just watched?
This makes me suspect that heavy editing was done to the point that is not fully honest of how it really happened. Their final camp was probably not during their last week or final days.. Also, they all suddenly got better at fishing for no given reason.. And to wildly suspect even more.. I think Laura (as somebody who even attempted to row across an ocean) had fishing expertise all along.. they probably got it going by 2nd or 3rd week; The editing of the show just made it look like they all were completely miserable and clueless for 5 weeks.. which seems really unrealistic for me..
They get so much help and yet they suck ass compared to the men. Dudes talk through their daily chores every morning before getting to work, they built a proper shelter and even a bed for everyone without getting that much help.
The sad thing is that the women agreed to the ridiculous help they were given ie the baked beans, the helpful fisherman, the pigs!, the extra fire making kit, the constant calls to the doctors every five minutes, they could have turned round and said we either succeed without any help or we go home and they decided to cheat just to make sure the production team got a TV programme to sell. What a joke and so politically correct because we couldn't have the ladies fail in our new progressive society could we.
Yep, they were being helped all the way lol That sleeping pig was extremely set up. Looked like it was sedated or something to not wake up from all the screaming haha
They wanted this to be an island holiday not what it's supposed to be so they pressed the producers to make it more of an island paradise rather than a challenging survival situation

grylls at the start does say that he has placed and made sure that the island has all the resources they need but the contestants have to be the ones to find it like the pigs it's pretty obvious that they put them there.

Exactly my thoughts. They showed them doing nothing all season, then at the end they magically get it all together and build a fantastic camp and their net actually starts to catch fish. (Clearly someone set the net for them)

If the production team hadn't told them where to find the "scouting party" at the beginning, they wouldn't have lasted a week. They discarded a jerrycan, got severely dehydrated and still needed to be told to get it back or they would not survive. Truely, the stereotype was utterly destroyed!

Yes no one could say its easy for the girls but its not survival when you need rescued so many times by getting fireboard, food. On the other hand men risked their lifes for getring natural food.

Naturally women don’t work through a leadership type system. Groups of women always tend to be more equality based, everyone is their own boss, we all get a say in things. And that just doesn’t work good at all. There always needs to be a leader it’s not a bad thing either. Men have always worked more from a hierarchical system. You can kinda tell that from the men’s group. Although I wasn’t sure exactly who the leader is you can kinda tell that the guys who did more and had more to say sorta lead the group. Like the dude in the glasses and the other guy can’t remember his name.

There should be a behind the scene of how Bear Grylls ninja team place pigs in the forest, fishes near the shore & canned beans in the women's island for the women to conveniently find. While men had to literally wrestle crocodile & had to go further in the ocean to caught fish in the men's island.
Those girls were making crude remarks with sexual contentations every tmie they bonded. So it would be suprise to me that if they did a behind the scenes, those women would be working the male support crew with 'favours' for the beans and pigs. Especially that doctor. She was obsessed with dicks. Wouldn't want to go in and see her for a problem.
Ridiculous. So much obvious help, as already stated in the other comments. But they also all had perfectly intact and clean plastic spoons for each woman, while the men ate with sticks. Wow so brave, resourceful and equal.
The game was plainly rigged in the women’s favor, which makes their failures all the more hilarious. Men’s island: Normal difficulty Men: struggle at first but eventually get through it with flying colors. Women’s island: Easy difficulty Women: end up using cheat codes and still struggle all the way through.
Did 'The Island' producers help the women? Sure. And they helped the men too. How do you think posh Sam's fishing nets suddenly got so many fish? How did Will manage to catch fish almost every day? As for the plastic spoons, did you see how much plastic junk was washed up on that beach? If both teams found fishing nets on the beach, it's quite plausible the women found spoons. Maybe the men just didn't care about that. At any rate, both teams had help. But guess what? It's a TV show! Every "reality" TV show is produced (ie. faked) to some extent. The producers want to make sure there is plenty of drama, but they aren't going to let the contestants all leave after 1 week, or get so ill they might die. So, yes they intervene. But if you think the women weren't resourceful, I'd like to see you try living 6 weeks on a remote island.
I think that the women lost when they got sent a new bow drill kit in the beginning of the series. It's also unfortunate that there were so many suspect find. Like pigs walking in to their camp, they got given a fish, the baked beans etc. It takes away so much from the real GOATs like Lauren. She is a badass!
I think they lost the moment Fi said they were winning...to be honest it wasn't a competition, it was a tainted experiment that was supposed to demonstrate what it would take for strangers to survive each other more so than survive the Island.

I think its very disingenuous of Bear Grylls to not disclose what parts of the show are real and what are not. There are clearly several instances of extreme luck that are not similar to the men's episodes including the double chance pig snare, in which we never saw more than a snippet of the women setting it up or how it works, the Baked Bean discovery, in which the cans labels have clearly been ripped off because the top of the can is rusty and the body of the can is not ( 24:15 ). Did the women do this? These are not the only discrepancies but in my opinion the most flagrant. I really hope they didn't just lie and ruin the integrity of this amazing concept, it should be fair for both genders but at the very least it should be disclosed that they will be receiving help to finish the 6 weeks if that is indeed the case. PS: Come on guys, a passing fisherman...really...
It keeps the average viewer engaged and makes them turn their brains off. If they get caught in a lie, they can always go back to the "we disclosed that earlier" since they keep it shockingly vague
In my opinion, it does prove the question of who would be able to survive more comfortably. When the production crew stealthily helped the men, it was done in such a way that it took a second look or expert knowledge from the viewer to spot. Despite the times they were helped, it still felt believable that they would have survived without the help. When the production team helped the women, it was obvious even to viewers without survival knowledge that they were getting help, and Grylls also had to make commentary over those moments to try and deflect from the blatantly obvious facts. Despite the huge amount of help and support the women got, they still barely scraped through, and it doesn't seem very likely they would have survived without the interference. I agree that Grylls has a responsibility to keep the viewers engaged, if he had not interfered, the women would have been evacuated in the first week.
A passing boat of two (or more) fishermen discover an island with only women, most of which has smoking hot bodies, and they're happy not even making landfall? Just tossing a single fish to the shore? You mean to tell me they didn't come back later that night and give them some more protein? I'm just saying. If I were in that situation, I'd at least come ashore to make sure there was nothing I could do to help the poor souls out!
@@TheRecklessDark I don't think the production crew helped the men but I have a sneaking suspicion they gave them 4 more fishing hooks and thats it, the women got free food, a fire started for them. The men are also emaciated, lost a lot of weight and all their fat but the women look like the exact same as they started. I'm not sure if they timelines match up either, I think the men were there for the full 7 weeks and the women's one was only 2 weeks or so. I wish this show was more honest, deception only takes away from the womens one.
They're women, what do you expect. Women aren't made to survive and take lead, they're made to procreate, raise children and take care of the family with their love and empathy. Men don't have this kind of caringness that women do. Men are made to protect and provide and this is how it's been since history. It's just now this new generation is so stupid with all their equality feminism bs. Men and women are not the same and they never will be, they both have their own qualities which are good in their own way

These group of men are truly amazing. Its sad what happened with Will, that farewell was the demonstration of the essence of men being together and caring for each other. Beautiful, love this show.
Just think how much better off they'd have been if they would've just put Lauren in charge weeks ago. They all recognized she was the strongest of them all and if not for her they never would've made it. She was the only one that was analytical instead of emotional and that's why she was the only one willing to do what had to be done with pigs as not to starve. If there was a winner, Lauren won it all.
Because they want someone to make all the difficult decisions and do all the difficult jobs and take responsibility, without them having to be lead or dominated or listen to anyone else.
Jaime did not survive. Others made that egoistic helpless princess to survive. Made a shelter, fire for her, poured water and put food into her mouth. What a witch.
Jaime had been running the entire water system... hauling, filtering, and boiling. She received no recognition for this, and continued to do so while other teammates took time off. She probably got a little $hitty when the Big-Brains threw away the other jerry can. (which would have led to the death of the entire tribe if not resolved) She couldn't argue her point because the group was made up of people that wouldn't listen to reason.

Everyone believes the men's side because it is feasible. But the women's side is so obviously receiving help that it is more of a joke than anything. I think they proved that a group of women simply cannot survive alone.
I don’t know if anyone has noticed other than me, but the women really don’t look all that emaciated for all the weight they had apparently lost. Usually you can start to see the clavicle protruding, with the shoulder bones more defined. The scapula should be visible from the back. In addition, their faces all look rather puffy cheeked (sorry, I don’t know the medical term). In comparison, the men do look like they had definitely lost weight. It could be just me, but the women really don’t look like they have missed many meals at all. I realize that most of these reality shows are anything but “reality” but rather “staged” as they are for entertainment purposes after all.

He would have died from dehydration in 2-3 days. It usually takes more than three days to die from dehydration, but on a tropical desert island with 80% humidity, you cannot survive that long. women received water and coconut every day for two weeks. I may have secretly received more that wasn't included in the edit. The incompetent performers play around all day without doing anything, but they are all clean and healthy. This show is a scam.
The men work for everything and work as a team to make it. Women: pigs come to their camp, fisherman drops off fish, get a fresh waterfall, backed beans tins “found”, have two jerrycans, get given fire making tools, didn’t see them set a trap for the pigs?!?, found a raft, no organization, hunting, 3 days from the end appear to start working as a team and make the place look nice for Bears arrival.. and at the end “‘women can do anything quote” empowered … sure. Lauren is golden and the only one that could possibly have made it like the men did.

Really impressive. That showed to everyone that the steriotypes are WRONG. It showed to us that if the women can get help from the begining to finish with food (convinient pigs and a storage of canned food), tools (functional bow drill to make fire) and life saving decisions (don't throw away your jerry can, use it!), they can get to the last day and build a nice looking camp. Trully magnificent! Maybe after 6 months of external help they would have an even better looking camp!
They did not built it. Like with fish lie, like here. 2 weeks or so gone. Enough to feed them and teach them what to say. None has balls to confront and be accountable for her mistakes.
Can we all just take a moment to appreciate how ridiculously useful plastic bottles are. Transporting water alone would have been so much harder with out the humble discarded plastic bottle. Not to mention all the other uses such as floats for the net and weight's when filled with sand as well as padding and insulation for the bed.
You won't find an island like that near the US. With as much blame as the US gets for supposedly "polluting" the ocean. We all know that the real culprits are China and India. In fact, samples of the "plastic raft" floating in the ocean have shown only 8% from the US. So the choice of island was intentional, knowing they'd have such a gluttony of trash for their use.
Why they never cooked water in the plastic gallons by hesting rocks and purring in? Seems line they never got a proper survial instruction and arent creativ
Also, once in the first episodes, the producers had to directly intervene and give them water because they were literally dying of dehydration. So to be fair, they all died before one or two weeks. But even after getting a second life, they almost died again when they threw the canister away and the producers had to step in again. 🤦♂🤦♂🤦♂

I think it's funny that when the women start to organize, they decorate. Decorate the pathway, decorate the trees, sweep the sand... if this isn't proof of the difference in nature between men and women, I don't know what is. But I think it's great. It proves we need each other. The men go out and use their ingenuity to find food and resources. The women are in charge of taking the bounty and using it to keep the group nourished and cared for. It's almost like they've reverse engineered the recipe for a functioning society through variable control.
yeah it’s simple men and women arnt the same and we have different traditions roles and roles that kept us thriving, basically since the start of humanity. Men go out hunt and provide while women stay home cook and take care of the children. men go out and do all the hard physical work. Then feminism came along and ruined it.

I think it just goes to show how little food we actually need compared to what we eat in modern times. After a month of basically starving, they look lean and fit. Even the men looked like they were still in decent shape by the end.

nothing unusual, i watched on Discovery those cans are native inhabitants on islands in Pacific ocean. And wild pigs often drugs themselves so you can come and get them barehanded
Yeah I noticed that aswell, I was just assuming they were pandering to the "women are just as capable as men" thing although they almost killed themselves several times. So in any way they could not allow the women to fail regardless. So the ending is most likely just scripted.

Lauren is a great leader of what ever she is involved in!Even bigger organisations.She is calm,collected,very understanding and even caring,leading by example without demeaning anyone!She is humble but strong mind in pursuing her vision!!! The girls were amazing,Lauren has a very high potential to be a very successful leader
I was in the navy and plastic bottles full of soda I can totally see...I've seen it on every beach around the world...the other things I highly doubt...the pigs were tame... the open can of beans...no way in heck.
The women's island: 30% crying, 30% arguing, 20% talking about penises and testicles, 10% attempting something and failing, 10% commiserating while sunbathing. Plus another bonus 100% of the production making sure they 'magically' find food and goodies. Hilarious! LOL
This season’s likely what killed the show. It’s fairly obvious the men were required to “survive” while the women had their hands held so that they could look like “survivors”. Shame.
It kept going for a few seasons apparently, so I don't think it killed the show. It was a very clear demonstration of gender differences, though, despite them trying their hardest to convince you otherwise.

Um... guy got his arm cut open. Two guys almost got smashed against the rocks. The woman would not fight an alligator in the middle of the woods while lost and dehydrated. Sometimes, they can be logical. Men would rather act stupidly. But, being stupid does sometimes provide. Taking risks does, at times, improve survival. On the other hand, the women were logical only once before they went sunbathing.
@GamingwithStilez Um, the guys organized, divided tasks and responsibilities, and were aware of the practicality and pragmatic needs from day one. The women couldn't get over ego, organize, or focus on priorities until week 5. Now what I would love to see is a joint men/women team. Gatherers and hunters together.
Believe it is this season that they came together as a group. Having started off as two separate groups, they had trouble working together, and everyone wanted his gender to be the boss. So the group should be mixed from the start.
This show proves that no matter how much women claim to be leaders.... they are always looking for someone to lead them.... they're followers not leaders.
It’s also funny the women episodes have much less views compared to the men episodes. I once saw a video of a man soloing one whole year of surviving alone. He had the necessary tools, preparation and medical equipment. But still had to do everything himself and did 99% of his stay without any help. That was an absolute killer of a film.

They waited until the last couple of days to build a decorated, fancy camp, just in time for Bear Grylls to turn up and go _"Wow, you ladies are such good survivors,"_ after we just watched them spend six weeks sleeping on floors and coming close to dying at every turn without food conveniently turning up. Hell, they spent the first week split up, lost and without ANY real camp.

This makes me suspect that heavy editing was done to the point that is not fully honest of how it really happened. Their final camp was probably not during their last week or final days.. Also, they all suddenly got better at fishing for no given reason.. And to wildly suspect even more.. I think Laura (as somebody who even attempted to row across an ocean) had fishing expertise all along.. they probably got it going by 2nd or 3rd week; The editing of the show just made it look like they all were completely miserable and clueless for 5 weeks.. which seems really unrealistic for me..

Naturally women don’t work through a leadership type system. Groups of women always tend to be more equality based, everyone is their own boss, we all get a say in things. And that just doesn’t work good at all. There always needs to be a leader it’s not a bad thing either. Men have always worked more from a hierarchical system. You can kinda tell that from the men’s group. Although I wasn’t sure exactly who the leader is you can kinda tell that the guys who did more and had more to say sorta lead the group. Like the dude in the glasses and the other guy can’t remember his name.

So it would be suprise to me that if they did a behind the scenes, those women would be working the male support crew with 'favours' for the beans and pigs. Especially that doctor. Ridiculous. So much obvious help, as already stated in the other comments. But they also all had perfectly intact and clean plastic spoons for each woman, while the men ate with sticks. Wow so brave, resourceful and equal.

Men’s island: Normal difficulty
Men: struggle at first but eventually get through it with flying colors.
Women’s island: Easy difficulty

Did 'The Island' producers help the women? Sure. And they helped the men too. How do you think posh Sam's fishing nets suddenly got so many fish? How did Will manage to catch fish almost every day?
As for the plastic spoons, did you see how much plastic junk was washed up on that beach? If both teams found fishing nets on the beach, it's quite plausible the women found spoons. Maybe the men just didn't care about that.
At any rate, both teams had help. But guess what? It's a TV show! Every "reality" TV show is produced (ie. faked) to some extent. The producers want to make sure there is plenty of drama, but they aren't going to let the contestants all leave after 1 week, or get so ill they might die. So, yes they intervene. But if you think the women weren't resourceful, I'd like to see you try living 6 weeks on a remote island.
I think that the women lost when they got sent a new bow drill kit in the beginning of the series. It's also unfortunate that there were so many suspect find. Like pigs walking in to their camp, they got given a fish, the baked beans etc. It takes away so much from the real GOATs like Lauren. She is a badass!

I think its very disingenuous of Bear Grylls to not disclose what parts of the show are real and what are not. There are clearly several instances of extreme luck that are not similar to the men's episodes including the double chance pig snare, in which we never saw more than a snippet of the women setting it up or how it works, the Baked Bean discovery, in which the cans labels have clearly been ripped off because the top of the can is rusty and the body of the can is not ( 24:15 ). Did the women do this? These are not the only discrepancies but in my opinion the most flagrant. I really hope they didn't just lie and ruin the integrity of this amazing concept, it should be fair for both genders but at the very least it should be disclosed that they will be receiving help to finish the 6 weeks if that is indeed the case. PS: Come on guys, a passing fisherman...really...
It keeps the average viewer engaged and makes them turn their brains off. If they get caught in a lie, they can always go back to the "we disclosed that earlier" since they keep it shockingly vague
In my opinion, it does prove the question of who would be able to survive more comfortably. When the production crew stealthily helped the men, it was done in such a way that it took a second look or expert knowledge from the viewer to spot. Despite the times they were helped, it still felt believable that they would have survived without the help.
When the production team helped the women, it was obvious even to viewers without survival knowledge that they were getting help, and Grylls also had to make commentary over those moments to try and deflect from the blatantly obvious facts.
Despite the huge amount of help and support the women got, they still barely scraped through, and it doesn't seem very likely they would have survived without the interference.
I agree that Grylls has a responsibility to keep the viewers engaged, if he had not interfered, the women would have been evacuated in the first week.
A passing boat of two (or more) fishermen discover an island with only women, most of which has smoking hot bodies, and they're happy not even making landfall? Just tossing a single fish to the shore? You mean to tell me they didn't come back later that night and give them some more protein? I'm just saying. If I were in that situation, I'd at least come ashore to make sure there was nothing I could do to help the poor souls out!

The men are also emaciated, lost a lot of weight and all their fat but the women look like the exact same as they started. I'm not sure if they timelines match up either, I think the men were there for the full 7 weeks and the women's one was only 2 weeks or so. I wish this show was more honest, deception only takes away from the womens one.

I don’t know if anyone has noticed other than me, but the women really don’t look all that emaciated for all the weight they had apparently lost. Usually you can start to see the clavicle protruding, with the shoulder bones more defined. The scapula should be visible from the back. In addition, their faces all look rather puffy cheeked (sorry, I don’t know the medical term). In comparison, the men do look like they had definitely lost weight. It could be just me, but the women really don’t look like they have missed many meals at all. I realize that most of these reality shows are anything but “reality” but rather “staged” as they are for entertainment purposes after all.

Women: pigs come to their camp, fisherman drops off fish, get a fresh waterfall, backed beans tins “found”, have two jerrycans, get given fire making tools, didn’t see them set a trap for the pigs?!?, found a raft, no organization, hunting, 3 days from the end appear to start working as a team and make the place look nice for Bears arrival.. and at the end “‘women can do anything quote” empowered … sure. Lauren is golden and the only one that could possibly have made it like the men did.

Really impressive. That showed to everyone that the steriotypes are WRONG. It showed to us that if the women can get help from the begining to finish with food (convinient pigs and a storage of canned food), tools (functional bow drill to make fire) and life saving decisions (don't throw away your jerry can, use it!), they can get to the last day and build a nice looking camp. Trully magnificent! Maybe after 6 months of external help they would have an even better looking camp!
They did not built it. Like with fish lie, like here. 2 weeks or so gone. Enough to feed them and teach them what to say. None has balls to confront and be accountable for her mistakes.
Can we all just take a moment to appreciate how ridiculously useful plastic bottles are. Transporting water alone would have been so much harder with out the humble discarded plastic bottle. Not to mention all the other uses such as floats for the net and weight's when filled with sand as well as padding and insulation for the bed.

You won't find an island like that near the US. With as much blame as the US gets for supposedly "polluting" the ocean. We all know that the real culprits are China and India. In fact, samples of the "plastic raft" floating in the ocean have shown only 8% from the US. So the choice of island was intentional, knowing they'd have such a gluttony of trash for their use.
Why they never cooked water in the plastic gallons by hesting rocks and purring in? Seems line they never got a proper survial instruction and arent creativ
Insane how this gets called survival when they get 3 pigs delivered and fish brought to them aswell as canned food.
Also, once in the first episodes, the producers had to directly intervene and give them water because they were literally dying of dehydration. So to be fair, they all died before one or two weeks. But even after getting a second life, they almost died again when they threw the canister away and the producers had to step in again.

I think it's funny that when the women start to organize, they decorate.
Decorate the pathway, decorate the trees, sweep the sand... if this isn't proof of the difference in nature between men and women, I don't know what is.
But I think it's great. It proves we need each other. The men go out and use their ingenuity to find food and resources. The women are in charge of taking the bounty and using it to keep the group nourished and cared for. It's almost like they've reverse engineered the recipe for a functioning society through variable control.

Yeah I noticed that aswell, I was just assuming they were pandering to the "women are just as capable as men" thing although they almost killed themselves several times. So in any way they could not allow the women to fail regardless. So the ending is most likely just scripted.

This season’s likely what killed the show. It’s fairly obvious the men were required to “survive” while the women had their hands held so that they could look like “survivors”.

Um... guy got his arm cut open. Two guys almost got smashed against the rocks. The woman would not fight an alligator in the middle of the woods while lost and dehydrated. Sometimes, they can be logical. Men would rather act stupidly. But, being stupid does sometimes provide. Taking risks does, at times, improve survival. On the other hand, the women were logical only once before they went sunbathing.
@GamingwithStilez Um, the guys organized, divided tasks and responsibilities, and were aware of the practicality and pragmatic needs from day one. The women couldn't get over ego, organize, or focus on priorities until week 5. Now what I would love to see is a joint men/women team. Gatherers and hunters together.
Believe it is this season that they came together as a group. Having started off as two separate groups, they had trouble working together, and everyone wanted his gender to be the boss. So the group should be mixed from the start.

I once saw a video of a man soloing one whole year of surviving alone. He had the necessary tools, preparation and medical equipment. But still had to do everything himself and did 99% of his stay without any help. That was an absolute killer of a film.
