You have many tracks to listen to with this wonderful music. Your reaction was just the same as ours in the early 1970s. I'm 64, and can easily feel like I'm 13 again.
The great thing about Marc was the way he introduced us kids at the time to the old blues artists - in the case of Jeepster it was Howlin Wolf - he was a master at reinventing 50s rock n roll for my generation - Beltane Walk being another perfect example (and let’s not forget I Love To Boogie 😜) - melody is everything 🎸🎸🎸
Hi, The album "Electric Warrior" was the 2nd album I ever owned, and I got it for Christmas in the 70's when I was in my teens. I bought The Slider myself the day it came out. Both these albums are amazing. One thing that will surprise you about Marc Bolan. He never touched drugs. He was originally a poet, called Mark Feld. His lyrics are sublime, and he uses a play on words, and rooted in fantasy , warlocks, fairies, wizards and ancient magicians. On their debut T.Rex album, after they changed their name from Tyrannosaurus Rex, there is an epic track almost 9 minutes long called "The Wizard", Marc screaming on that, as he goes into a "Na naa naa na naaa" frenzy, is amazing and totally mesmerizing ! ... He even overdubs his own vocals singing a duet with himself ... Never done before at that time. To think he actually wrote it during the 60's. Noone ever thought to do songs that long at that time, although he didn't release it till the 70's. He was sooo ahead of his time. Wonderful lyricist , guitarist, singer, song writer, and here in England in the 70's he was a massive star, and that's an understatement. His best friend was David Bowie and among his closest, Ringo Star and Elton John. I grew up loving his music, and I have every studio album he ever did. Marc was a gentile beautiful soul, very quietly spoken, and remarkably beautiful to look at. I am a full blooded hetrosexual, but Marc was stunning in his smouldering looks !! He came alive on stage !!! This is one rabbit hole you will love. Enjoy the journey....and enjoy turning your new place into a home.
Thanks for playing one my favourite artists, had bad day today so this took my mind off it . 20th century boy, & lots of other tracks have been used in TV & films
Great tunes. Mambo Sun another gem; imo inspired Lust for Life by Bowie/ Iggy. It's true Marc B wanted to have the same management as Barrett. Trex also inspired later generationz': The Smiths, Cramps, many Def Leppard, Poison, eyc eyc eza
Tyrannosaurus Rex Band, were originally all poetry and flowers, hippy drippy, but then they changed their name and went Glam Rock/Pop. Jeepster one of their best. You've got the universe reclining in your hair is one of the best lines ever! Keep Reacting!
As a life long T.Rex fan Jeepster is my all time fave. Marc had a great creative spirit when composing intros too, try 20th Century Boy, Metal Guru or Telegram Sam if you haven't already. I love to boogie is pure Rockabilly too.
I think everybody, of every gender, has that little "Oh my, I suddenly want Marc Bolan to passionately kiss me" moment when first getting into T Rex; that final "And I'm gonna sssssssuck ya" in "Jeepster" has probably brought on lots of them. Would definitely recommend "Brokenhearted Blues" from the album just after The Slider; probably my favorite by them, and very overlooked. Magical track by a magical man; God rest him.
Hi Sarah, If you listen to more of Marc's songs you'll notice he always mentions a car in some way. Example in Slider he says "I have never ever kissed a car before..." The irony of this is he never drovea car in his life and it broke millions of hearts when died in car crash being driven by his girlfriend after being to s pub. Its just sad! I'm 62 and he's "Warrior" album is my favorite. Glad you like him, love your reaction! ❤
It is almost impossible to really know what Marc and his lyrics meant. If you want a T.Rex song with an amazing beat and out of this world lyrics listen to "Mambo Sun". It's the first track off of the Electric Warrior album, the same album "Jeepster" is on.
Useless factoids, the strange fluttering noise you can hear on the foot stomps on the intro were a total accident, it was caused by a faulty channel on the recording console. Also the foot stomps weren't overdubbed, that was an enthusiastic Marc Bolan jumping up and down on the wooden floorboards of the studio, whilst recording his live guitar part.
Hey Sarahrae. Sorry for high jacking another reaction, but you haven't reacted to any Megadeth in 8 months. There are many song from that band I feel you would enjoy. Here are two which I feel you would like, having liked 'Peace Sells' and 'Good Mourning/Black Friday'. The first is 'In My Darkest Hour'. The music was written by Dave after learning about Cliff Burton's death, bassist for Metallica and friend. The lyrics are about a toxic relationship with an ex-girlfriend. The second songs is 'My Last Words'. It's off the same album as 'Peace Sells' and 'Good Mourning...'. The lyrics are about playing Russian Roulette. The music has one of Dave's best solos. Please get back to some classic Megadeth. Hoping to see a reaction soon.

For me 'Electric Slim and the Factory Hen' is a great album track to react to. One of my favourites and one of Bolan's underrated masterpieces.

T Rex rules!!!!! React to more of them! Marc is the best!
