Oliver said he didn't want to ruin the game last season when kovacic committed 2 red card tackles and received one yellow, so by his logic we can assume he wanted to ruin this game and wanted to send off MLS.
Danny another fact backing Simon observation is 2 hight tackles by Mateo Kovacic refereed by Michael Oliver didn't result in a red card neither 2 yellow. A karate kick by Doku on McAllister at Anfield didn't result into a penalty nor any sanction. Those are hard facts. Anywhere else this would have been associated with a bias but not in the Premier League where players, pundits etc... everyone get paid big money to deliver a fair entretainment. But where Howard Webb and the PGMOL behave like a tyranic organization that has no accountability nor correct it mistakes or apologize. All they do is doubling down and crying victims. Some online death threats to Michael Oliver were from weeks ago after Liverpool vs Man Utd game. They brought them out now to waterwash their shortcommings.
Guys, guys calm down, jims job is not to be correct. Its to make the content on the show interesting and to create a show worth watching and listening to. It was good radio and it stimulated you to respond my comment, so job done Jim. This isn't lawn bowls, its football. Rival fans dish out far worse than this and call it banta
JORDAN SAYS EVERYONE CAN MAKE MISTAKES. EVEN REFEREES. WELL MR.JORDAN THAT'S WHY THE INDEPENDENT BOARD OVERTURNED THE RED CARD, BECAUSE OLIVER MADE A MISTAKE. GET MY DRIFT SIMPLE SIMON? 😄
Var has been implemented to stop those exact mistakes and yet the whole panel agrees and says you can make mistakes with all those cameras and the slow motion at your exposal. Just looking at the numbers it is clear as hell there is an agenda. How did that fraud come to the decision that its a red card in 1st place.
what's the point of VAR if they couldn't get this right? i think the main issue is this was wrong, VAR backed it up, and then PGMOL backed it up again..
The trouble here, is yes, we all make mistakes 100%, but, Michael Oliver’s mistake could and has cost many teams points, hence millions of pounds, managers sacked, and teams relegated! That’s the BIG difference here!
How can VAR defer to the Ref who got far less capacity to make a correct call. Its like trusting just what one sees in real time vs what 4 people can see through multiple magnifying lenses with far more time and making a collective judgement.
Not condoning it but the death threats they all talking about came from Liverpool vs ManUnited not Arsenal they just love associating Arsenal on all bad stuffs. Perhaps an excuse to deflect from their mistakes and incompètence
Don't forget Michael Oliver refs games in the middle east for huge money for the people who own Manchester city.he ain't gonna bite the hand that feeds him.
a player makes a mistake gets a red card and receives a suspension so his for managers. so it's fair to say that referees should have at least a game off.
Danny Murphy for once absolutely correct. Man City dominating matches means there is less chance of them committed red card challenges. The fact is Oliver hasn't sent off any Liverpool players either. Other referees who have officiated Arsenal as many times as Oliver have all issued Arsenal with multiple red cards. Anthony Taylor 6 reds in 53 games. Martin Atkinson 8 reds in 67 games. Pul Tierney 3 reds in 21 games. Of the 8 red cards Oliver has given against Arsenal this one and a second yellow for Maitland-Niles back in 2019 appear to be the only questionable decisions. So once again I will say to Arsenal fans pipe down there is no agenda
If match domination is the explanation for the amount of red cards, then why has Michael Oliver awarded Arsenal red cards at almost twice the rate per game as West Ham and 50% higher than Everton? Arsenal have always played a high possession game, so even if they didn't do it as well as City, the amount of red cards would be low in comparison to other teams, certainly the ones outside of the top 6. Michael Oliver's other red cards against Arsenal includes Martinelli receiving 2 yellow cards against Wolves for a single phase of play and Trossard kicking the ball away against Man City this season. No other team has picked up a 2nd yellow this season for kicking the ball away, but there's a chance to do so pretty much every game. Even in this Wolves game Gomes could have picked up a 2nd yellow earlier than he did, when he kicked the ball away. At the very least, Oliver likes to find innovative reasons for sending off Arsenal players. Your point about there being no agenda against Arsenal is then completely undermined when you point out the high numbers of red cards other referees also give Arsenal. There is nothing remarkable about Arsenal's style of play, fouling or tackling that could account for this, suggesting there is indeed a refereeing agenda against them.
So why TF is there more problems with VAR(virtuorsly absolute rubbish) in the so_called best league in the world than all the other leagues across Europe
“Haven’t been since the Newcastle decision away from home?” What about the previous game against Newcastle when Odegaard dribbled the ball back into possession with his hand and got away with it? Typical hypocrisy from Arsenal fans, I’ve never heard even one of them mentioning the decisions that go for them
You’re right, but this shouldn’t be about Arsenal, it’s about increasingly bad decisions all round for every team. VAR is not consistent week to week, let alone half to half. Arsenal got away with one against Tottenham the other week I’m happy to say it, VAR is a waste of space if it can’t be used to determine the ball went out of play. Arsenal fan here.
The hard and puzzling Question is why does a Ref make a harsh and Quick call and VAR backs that up .... Appeals committee overturns the decision ... Doesn't that disadvantage the team does that loses a player through bad ref calls ... ( Case in point Bruno Fernandes red card against Totenham)
@simonjordan welcome michael oliver on red carpet despite him taking decisins that are changing the points and title charge for arsenal and changing the momentum for different teams. Oliver makes mistakes continuing mistakes and VAR not helping it. Just fire simonjordon or spit on his face and say we have made a mistake.😂
Even the BBC's commentary staff were shocked when it was given as red. Think that said it all. Who remembers the days of Billy Bremner etc, when it was a contact sport. Now, players go down writhing in pain & 2 seconds later they're up & running again as if nothing happened.
He should have given a Yellow and then consulted VAR to see if it deserved more. And the public should be privy to what VAR are seeing and communicating. There should be transparency. What if a referee gives improper red cards all to one team and VAR does nothing to correct it. Is the fact that we do now have VAR the argument for it being the corrective mechanism that it is supposed to be. We have it, therefore trust it, at all times? When a clearly improper call is made, one that everyone agrees to be improper, and VAR does nothing to correct, then it becomes part of the problem. It's almost like needing surgery to reattach a leg. The surgery is done but the leg is backwards. Be happy you've had the surgery and now have a leg. Congratulations.
Can’t imagine the owners of Ipswich and Southampton were all that thrilled to see Oliver handed their game this weekend, given the financial implications of relegation. Simon as a previous owner of Palace who were constantly flirting with relegation, there is no way he’d want Oliver refereeing a relegation game like this, but here he is defending Oliver and suggesting he shouldn’t be stepped down for a few weeks.
One minute…….Simon Jordan and Jim White defending Michael Oliver and the PGMOL by claiming everyone makes mistakes. One problem, Michael Oliver and the PGMOL have refused that they made a mistake.
I didn’t realize the difference between Arsenal and City red cards/penalties, with Oliver refereeing their games, was so stark. It’s obvious that he has a bias in favor of City.
I think VAR should be changed to a Challenge system like tennis/cricket. Allow each manager to challenge 2 decisions per game to the 4th official. If their challenge is upheld, they retain the challenge.
Danny says he would be happy with wrong decisions and no VAR. Imagine if Liverpool were in the Champions League final and they lost to a clear offside goal in the 90th minute. You wouldn't here the last of it
You say that the red card was over turned, but playing with 10 player v 11 players is the same as playing for 120min. The question is do think of the recovery process. Can't think that a previous game can cause a loss of the next game??
If they aren't going to fully utilize VAR then why have it at all? More than one person in that room saw that decision and thought it was ok! This is just one of far too many.
The funniest thing is that they probably attribute fans calling him ‘bent and ‘biased’( of which there is data that backs this up and even the eye test proves this) as abuse. I wouldn’t be surprised if that’s the abuse they are talking about.
I would like to see them try a new VAR. "Video Assistant Referee" should be replaced by "Video Assisted Referee". VAR should be a 100% independant referee that can be called upon to make the final judgement. It shouldn't be a case of only "asking the ref to take a look at a monitor to possibly rethink a decision" ... it should be an independant ref(s) that look at a situation and makes the call, as they see it, regardless of the refs original decision ... in the case of undecided (50/50 calls) then it stays with the original on-field decision.
VAR works in all other sports. Football doesn't want VAR to work. Everybody blames each other ;). Rugby, tennis, basketball, cricket, American football, ice hockey... it all works :D
The fact Arsenal had to play for 30+ minutes cost us goal differential, equivalent to security in our spot in the table. Beyond that, the PGMOL has cost us points this season. Fix it up.
A red card is a decision that cannot be made lightly because it is game changing. It is not just a ressult, it may have serious consequences in some instances like losing a title by a point, 2 or 3. Anyone in a 'high position of responsibility' should be accountable for.
It’s not just he’s sent off more arsenal than city. He’s given more yellows, more penalties against and fewest penalties for arsenal. On top of that 0 red cards for city, add in the conflict of interest with him reffing for huge wages in the middle east. It definitely looks suspect
Clearly Oliver got the decision wrong but in my opinion the bigger problem (with this particular incident) and the person who should take most criticism is the VAR who I believe was Darren England. In real time it is always possible that a ref will make a misjudgement. He only sees an incident once from one angle and at full speed. He might think he has seen something that actually was something else, as in this case. The linesmen might be unsighted or be too far away to offer any help. VAR on the other hand has the benefit of seeing an incident from multiple angles, multiple times at slow speed and therefore should be able to see clearly what has actually happened and alert the referee to a potential mistake and suggest he reviews the decision. Despite all of his advantages the VAR actually endorsed the decision when just about everyone else could see that a mistake had been made. It isn't the first time England as VAR has made big wrong calls and demonstrated apparent incompetence so why is he still doing the job? Oliver also has a history of making poor decisions, though perhaps not all as clear cut as this one, and it is surely time for the PGMOL to take a look at his history, particularly with Arsenal, to determine what is really going on.
Jim definitely knows Oliver or something you can see by the carry on of him getting insulted by even proposing that he might be biased nevermind to say corrupt
Jim White scoffs at Simon when he questions by what metric is Oliver determined to be the best referee in the game, “Simon! It’s widely agreed!”. If there was no VAR, then surely the match being viewed by a billion people could be reviewed after the game to have rescind the red card? Every angle was recorded in 4K for the PGMOL to salivate over after the game.

The very fact your all commenting and probably sitting at home still thinking about it and talking to your mates about it, is exactly what the anchor of any discussion program is supposed to try and stimulate in the audience. Jims setting up the shot so Danny and Simon can put it in the back of the net....thats his only role
No he’s doesn’t have to be a prick about it. He can pose the questions for discussion but to be condescending and outright obnoxious to ppl who express their opinion is not the way to go about it. But it’s his show so how dare I say what he should and shouldn’t do
@sneakerchief652 I didn't see anyone being a prick about anything. I've seen callers getting far worse treatment from other pundits. Jamie Ohara calls people idiots and stupid and laughs in their faces. All i saw Jim doing was challenging a caller, who was giving back as good as he was getting.
Mistakes? Bruh it’s a spot fixing ring and these clowns are in on it, the whole media in on it, they been found out by the masses
YEAH DANNY FERNANDINO AND RODRI DON'T DO TECHNICAL FAULT IN CITY GAME FOR THE PAST 7 YEARS FFS 😂
The guy is right tbh, mistakes can be made yeh but the whole point of VAR is to correct that if it happens. Not make the wrong decision again
Consistent mistake going unpunished PGMOL protecting their lads
Put the referee on yellow cards and reds then for second mistake
No one has contributed more to this issue than Jim & Jordan.
Danny Murphy is a hater
What is the hypocrisy here about Arsenal fans ? Just hit up mate if you have nothing better to write 🤦♂️
Arsenal also had the most leg breaks referees offered no protection to the likes of diaby, Ramsey & eduardo. Labeled soft it was embarrassing
The ignorance of the fan to think that VAR caused people to threaten referees 🤡
It's not causation but is correlated.
@abiodunoni420 nahhh, people have always been doing that 🤦
The hard and puzzling Question is why does a Ref make a harsh and Quick call and VAR backs that up ....
One problem, Michael Oliver and the PGMOL have refused that they made a mistake.
best ref 😂😂😂😂😂😂 . what a joke 😅😅😅
Are the police going to arrest the idiot arsenal fans who threatened oliver for making a correct decision.. !!!
Rage bate failed 😂😂😂
😂😂😂😂😂.
According to Talksport, mistakes are normal and referees should be allowed to make as many mistakes as they want.
What mistake Jim? It's Michael Oliver against Arsenal. It's not a mistake. Go check the records.
I didn’t realize the difference between Arsenal and City red cards/penalties, with Oliver refereeing their games, was so stark. It’s obvious that he has a bias in favor of City.
Without VAR we would still have had the card overturned by the panel with 2 working eyes, what are they talking about? VAR did nothing last weekend
You wouldn't here the last of it
His studs were on his shin. Not on purpose but it was a red for me
Overturning it wouldn’t stop this from occurring again the ref should be handed some sort of suspension… there has to be accountability for the Refs
You say that the red card was over turned, but playing with 10 player v 11 players is the same as playing for 120min. The question is do think of the recovery process. Can't think that a previous game can cause a loss of the next game??
I think everybody needs to go back 50 years and listen to the clough/motion interview. Clough says it all.
If they aren't going to fully utilize VAR then why have it at all? More than one person in that room saw that decision and thought it was ok! This is just one of far too many.
Jim is just purposefully winding them up
Jim denying bias will being condescending and biased is really annoying
The funniest thing is that they probably attribute fans calling him ‘bent and ‘biased’( of which there is data that backs this up and even the eye test proves this) as abuse. I wouldn’t be surprised if that’s the abuse they are talking about.
You can make mistakes, but making so many mistakes over and over again isn't a mistake anymore. It's just straight negligence and recklessness.
The question is, what happens when a referee goes rogue?
Why is Jim so angry with Rich? 😂 Also i remember most football fans never wanted VAR in the first place.
Jim ensuring his friends at PGMOL are happy with him.
Ohhhh that " RICH!!!!" comment was bang out of order
It’s not just he’s sent off more arsenal than city. He’s given more yellows, more penalties against and fewest penalties for arsenal. On top of that 0 red cards for city, add in the conflict of interest with him reffing for huge wages in the middle east. It definitely looks suspect
The mighty Simon Jordan, humbled by the word “anomaly”
Doku studs on McAllister chest in the penalty box, no fouls by Oliver. VAR quiet
Even if you don’t like Arsenal you must admit the numbers are at the very least weird
At the same time he calls the MLS decision a red card despite anyone with half a brain cell, including Tottenham former pros, calling it an awful decision which has since been rightfully been overturned.
Jim White can’t comprehend the concept of a referee having a bias while going on his show everyday and exercising his huge bias against arsenal despite his role calling for objectivity.
Time to hang up the microphone, Jim.
Caller: I was in bits.
smh
Jim is sounding like a Authoritarian, Talk Sport isn't a school and he's not a principal
If there was no VAR, then surely the match being viewed by a billion people could be reviewed after the game to have rescind the red card? Every angle was recorded in 4K for the PGMOL to salivate over after the game.
VAR is not the problem, it’s the referees that operate VAR…..
Jordan is the equivalent of VAR and triple downs on defending it.
