    The arrogance of Jim talking to Rich here is outstanding. Totally just backing up the PGMOL and being condescending to the caller, who was right. The decision didn't go in his favour today Jim, at bare minimum it's cancelled out the wrong one. Doesn't change the fact that Arsenal had to play a near full game with 10 men. I'm not even an Arsenal fan, but clearly referees have agendas, as does Jim, which is to protect the referees.

    4:45 the way Jim said his name “RICH” was utterly and unnecessarily condescending.
    And by saying, 'Why are you upset? The decision that affected the game has now been overturned two days later,' you miss the point, Jim. The real issue is the consistently poor officiating which is often defended even when proven wrong. Simply accepting a correction with a shrug and moving on doesn't address the need for consistency in officiating.

    Michael Oliver has awarded more penalties, yellow cards, and red cards per game against Arsenal than he has against any team he has refereed more than 40 times. This is despite Arsenal committing fouls at exactly the same rate per tackle as Manchester City. For Danny Murphy's explanation to hold up, he would have to explain why Oliver has awarded penalties against Arsenal twice as often as he has against Everton.
    On Jim White's point about the other red cards being justified, one involved Gabriel Martinelli against Wolves, in which he was booked twice during a single phase of play, and the other was given to Leandro Trossard this season, against Manchester City, for kicking the ball away. Regardless of anyone's views on these specific situations, they were unprecedented reactions to otherwise common events. No other team has received a second yellow card this season for delaying the restart, yet the opportunity to do so is present in almost every game. We have to start being honest about bias in refereeing if we want to improve standards. Bias does not mean corruption. Everyone has some bias and clearly Michael Oliver is biased against Arsenal.

    "Everybody makes mistakes"- yes and when a footballer makes a mistake on field he gets a red or yellow and misses some games. The caller was saying there should be consequences for failing to do your job to a high standard. Maybe if you were quiet and listened you would have got that.

    • @exitthelemming145
      @exitthelemming145 22 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      Yes, players do make mistakes but owners, coaches and players also cheat whenever they can to try and hoodwink the officials and administrators. Refs also make mistakes but if I thoughts they were corrupt I wouldn't waste my time watching games. If we really want to stop cheating, why do we allow players to strut around with chests puffed out with pride at having 'taken one for the team?' If a player hasn't made any attempt to play the ball in a challenge it should be a straight red card.

    • @All3cannons
      @All3cannons 21 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      @@exitthelemming145 here’s the thing. Why do you want this “take one for the team” mentality gone now? It has been going on for years. Rodri and Fernandinho have mad a career off of it.
      The issue is it is not a red card and has never been, but this referee is so arrogant they think they don’t need to apply the actual rules and just make it up as they go along and justify it. It took an independent panel to overturn this bias referee.
      We all have bias, but when it seems to affect decisions these referees need to be checked! It’s not just a mistake.

    What's infuriating here, is that the outrage is now being directed at VAR. Michael Oliver made the call like the arrogant referee with the anti-Arsenal agenda that he is, knowing he can make such a ridiculously wrong call and then everyone will blame the VAR if they didn't interfere. He had no right to make that call so quickly and definitely, yet all the conversation now is around the VAR who are likely afraid to contest the senior referee's decision. He was paid by Manchester City to referree a game, how can he be allowed to referee in this league any more. The Kovacic second yellow one was a joke. And why does Jim have such an agenda against Arsenal here and talk to Rich like that? "Maybe each and every one of them was justifiable" - so the trossard one and the lewis skelly ones don't count? Saying to move on to because the red card was rescinded is condesending, it nearly cost them the game.

    Danny another fact backing Simon observation is 2 hight tackles by Mateo Kovacic refereed by Michael Oliver didn't result in a red card neither 2 yellow. A karate kick by Doku on McAllister at Anfield didn't result into a penalty nor any sanction. Those are hard facts. Anywhere else this would have been associated with a bias but not in the Premier League where players, pundits etc... everyone get paid big money to deliver a fair entretainment. But where Howard Webb and the PGMOL behave like a tyranic organization that has no accountability nor correct it mistakes or apologize. All they do is doubling down and crying victims. Some online death threats to Michael Oliver were from weeks ago after Liverpool vs Man Utd game. They brought them out now to waterwash their shortcommings.

    Danny Murphy for once absolutely correct. Man City dominating matches means there is less chance of them committed red card challenges. The fact is Oliver hasn't sent off any Liverpool players either. Other referees who have officiated Arsenal as many times as Oliver have all issued Arsenal with multiple red cards. Anthony Taylor 6 reds in 53 games. Martin Atkinson 8 reds in 67 games. Pul Tierney 3 reds in 21 games. Of the 8 red cards Oliver has given against Arsenal this one and a second yellow for Maitland-Niles back in 2019 appear to be the only questionable decisions. So once again I will say to Arsenal fans pipe down there is no agenda

    • @LogicWins-vl8wy
      @LogicWins-vl8wy 22 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา +3

      If match domination is the explanation for the amount of red cards, then why has Michael Oliver awarded Arsenal red cards at almost twice the rate per game as West Ham and 50% higher than Everton? Arsenal have always played a high possession game, so even if they didn't do it as well as City, the amount of red cards would be low in comparison to other teams, certainly the ones outside of the top 6. Michael Oliver's other red cards against Arsenal includes Martinelli receiving 2 yellow cards against Wolves for a single phase of play and Trossard kicking the ball away against Man City this season. No other team has picked up a 2nd yellow this season for kicking the ball away, but there's a chance to do so pretty much every game. Even in this Wolves game Gomes could have picked up a 2nd yellow earlier than he did, when he kicked the ball away. At the very least, Oliver likes to find innovative reasons for sending off Arsenal players.
      Your point about there being no agenda against Arsenal is then completely undermined when you point out the high numbers of red cards other referees also give Arsenal. There is nothing remarkable about Arsenal's style of play, fouling or tackling that could account for this, suggesting there is indeed a refereeing agenda against them.

    He should have given a Yellow and then consulted VAR to see if it deserved more. And the public should be privy to what VAR are seeing and communicating. There should be transparency. What if a referee gives improper red cards all to one team and VAR does nothing to correct it. Is the fact that we do now have VAR the argument for it being the corrective mechanism that it is supposed to be. We have it, therefore trust it, at all times? When a clearly improper call is made, one that everyone agrees to be improper, and VAR does nothing to correct, then it becomes part of the problem. It's almost like needing surgery to reattach a leg. The surgery is done but the leg is backwards. Be happy you've had the surgery and now have a leg. Congratulations.

    Can’t imagine the owners of Ipswich and Southampton were all that thrilled to see Oliver handed their game this weekend, given the financial implications of relegation. Simon as a previous owner of Palace who were constantly flirting with relegation, there is no way he’d want Oliver refereeing a relegation game like this, but here he is defending Oliver and suggesting he shouldn’t be stepped down for a few weeks.

    I would like to see them try a new VAR. "Video Assistant Referee" should be replaced by "Video Assisted Referee".
    VAR should be a 100% independant referee that can be called upon to make the final judgement. It shouldn't be a case of only "asking the ref to take a look at a monitor to possibly rethink a decision" ... it should be an independant ref(s) that look at a situation and makes the call, as they see it, regardless of the refs original decision ... in the case of undecided (50/50 calls) then it stays with the original on-field decision.

    Clearly Oliver got the decision wrong but in my opinion the bigger problem (with this particular incident) and the person who should take most criticism is the VAR who I believe was Darren England. In real time it is always possible that a ref will make a misjudgement. He only sees an incident once from one angle and at full speed. He might think he has seen something that actually was something else, as in this case. The linesmen might be unsighted or be too far away to offer any help. VAR on the other hand has the benefit of seeing an incident from multiple angles, multiple times at slow speed and therefore should be able to see clearly what has actually happened and alert the referee to a potential mistake and suggest he reviews the decision. Despite all of his advantages the VAR actually endorsed the decision when just about everyone else could see that a mistake had been made. It isn't the first time England as VAR has made big wrong calls and demonstrated apparent incompetence so why is he still doing the job? Oliver also has a history of making poor decisions, though perhaps not all as clear cut as this one, and it is surely time for the PGMOL to take a look at his history, particularly with Arsenal, to determine what is really going on.

    At the same time he calls the MLS decision a red card despite anyone with half a brain cell, including Tottenham former pros, calling it an awful decision which has since been rightfully been overturned.
