Fantastic video, these are 2 monitors that I am torn between and also considering the neo G7! I wanted to ask how did you connect your M1 powered MacBook Pro to these monitors and did any of the monitors charge it at the same time? I use Adobe premiere pro to edit videos and photoshop for photos (my job) but I also have a ps5 I would love to connect to the monitor I use for work. Hey Tech Zilla, thank you so much! means a lot to me especially from someone with a successful channel like yours. I connected the monitors to my M1 Macbook through the Caldigit TS4 Thunderbolt Dock.. though I was able to connect them directly through my macbook as well. For M1 Macbook, you won't be able to use the regular Macbook inbuilt HDMI port to get full refresh rate support at 4k (only the M2 Macbook Pros have the HDMI 2.1 ports). If you're connecting directly to an M1 Macbook, you will instead need a USB-C to HDMI cable that is supportive of 4k 144Hz (usually marketed as 8K capable cables on Amazon) OR in the case of the Sony InZone M9, you can connect using a thunderbolt 4 cable (usb-c to usb-c). So with the Sony InZone you have 3 options to connect to your macbook (HDMI, DIsplay Port, and USB-C), whereas the other two have HDMI and Display Port support only. Not a deciding factor in any case, at least wasn't for me. The only monitor of the 3 that is advertised to support pass through charging is the Sony InZone M9 but it only supplies 15W of power so not enough to charge up your macbook. I solved that as well by getting the Caldigit TS4 thunderbolt 4 dock which has 98W of pass through charging and charges my macbook M2 Pro Max without issue even while I'm using it. I would say the Odyssey Neo G7, as long as you can live with knowing that the colours are not the best for 'colour accuracy'. I suck at colour grading and that's why all my videos have different looks haha still trying to figure it out but when colour grading, none of these monitors will beat your macbook in terms of colour accuracy, so even if you were to get the most colour accurate one (either the GQ950 or the InZone M9) and sacrifice the benefits of the Odyssey Neo G7, then even then, you would still need to reference your macbook to ensure the colours are 'accurate' which is what I do when editing my videos. Hope that makes sense hah, best I could explain it. So Odyssey Neo G7 so long as you can live with a curved monitor and know that you will still need to reference your macbook display when checking for colour accuracy/colour grading.

This is a great and quality video of these 2 monitors John Snow!! So far the LG is better to me, but i must say that i have now the Aourus 43" Gigabyte AORUS FV43U and this is the best monitor i had so far. By the way, it cost me just 450 Euros!! so a great option if you can find it!!

Oh the Sony InZone M9 is super light in comparison to most gaming monitors. It'll work with any monitor arm you get off Amazon most likely since it's just 15lbs. It's weird how this review (including your comments in the comment section) is solely oriented towards criticizing the M9 in each and ever aspect. Even when there's a technical aspect that M9 wins over LG, you'd mention the Neo G7 straight away, which isn't part of the video comparison. You're not wrong Calvin, even I noticed that when watching the video back and added a section at minute 2:47 where I point out the biased direction the video takes on. My intention was to highlight why I chose the LG GQ 950 over the M9 with this video when searching for best ps5 monitor that can also double for work. I then made another video on why I chose the Neo G7 over the GQ 950. Literally just taking people on my journey of making this buying decision. I'm not a professional monitor reviewer nor am I attempting to compete with their objective comparisons which go into way more objective details and technical comparisons than I am capable of. Honestly, I'm glad those channels are out there as they do help for sure but they do tend to proliferate more indecision in me. I even mention a couple of them, Rtings and Monitors Unboxed, at the end of the video for people who want to dive deeper into the tech specs of each of these monitors. My goal with this channel is to cut through all the countless hours of watching different comparison videos (which I do obsessively when buying stuff like this) and let people know the shortlist of what I went with and why. Did you have any connectivity or flickering issues with the M9 on PS5? Honestly most of the reasons you didn't like the M9 are reasons I'm heavily considering it, a white 27 inch 4k high refresh rate monitor is depressingly hard to come by still but some of the quality control issues I've read about the M9 online make me really really hesitate to pull the trigger. How was your experience on that front?
No connectivity or flickering issues in my experience.. the input switching was a tad slow compared to the other monitors.. like 5 seconds or so if i recall correctly. Def one of the better 27inch 4k high refresh rate monitors if you're dead set on that size and resolution. If I was going 27inch I'd prob go with the new LG 27inch oled if i cared more about the gaming experience.. but the lack of 4k and oled burn in risk might be deal breakers I understand.

Thanks for watching Brian! Agreed, ppi is technically better on the inzone but in practice, to my eyes, didn't lead to perceivably clearer text nor better image quality while gaming. If anything the text from my macbook was more blurred on the inzone in comparison to GQ950.. mainly because of the matte screen finish instead of semi gloss that LG used. Also the bigger display allowed better text scaling ontop of that.. so the higher ppi really didn't benefit the inzone in any meaningful way as far as I experienced 🤷
Hey Hamza, probably this weekend, sorry for delay! I'll give you synopsis here: basically, it all depends on if you won't mind the curve and poor viewing angles on the Odyssey Neo G7 or G8. I ended up loving the curve, especially when working on it with my macbook which is where I thought it would be annoying, but nah. For everyday work I love it. The curve adds to the experience if anything.. like it made me enjoy using split screen windows on my mac more often than when i was using the GQ950. You'll definitely either love it or hate it though as there's many people i've seen online who don't like it. I don't mind it even when editing videos though..the display is not all that colour accurate (neither the GQ950 nor the Odyssey Neos) so I just reference my macbook when i'm trying to dial in the colours. I prefer the contrast and colours overall on the Odyssey Neo G7 though vs the GQ950.. they just pop more to my eyes and have more contrast.. especially when you turn on contrast enhancer setting on the Odyssey Neo G7 and G8. I heard from 'monitors unboxed' youtube vid that the Neo G8 has 'scan-line' issues when just using it on pc or something.. that's why i went for Odyssey Neo G7 plus it was considerably cheaper when I bought it here in Canada and I don't need the higher refresh rate the Odyssey Neo G8 offers since i'm just using it with my ps5 and macbook. Also I prefer the black body on Odyssey Neo G7 vs White on Odyssey Neo G8. When gaming, I much preferred the Odyssey Neo G7s HDR for single player games, it looks pretty much as good as my LG CX OLED! The 1196 dimming zones vs just the 32 edge lit dimming zones on the GQ950 make a huge difference. As for the curve, it doesn't 'immerse' me all that much more but it doesn't annoy me neither. Motion handling and smoothness when playing call of duty was awesome too and I didn't feel like I had to turn off HDR to have better experience in call of duty like I did with the GQ950. So if you can go see the Odyssey Neo G7/G8 monitor in action somewhere to get a sense of the curve before buying that's the safest bet. Also you have to look at the display head on vs at an angle as the colours shift when viewing it at any angle vs on the GQ950. Wasn't an issue for me though and I watch TH-cam videos on it from all the way in my kitchen 10m away pretty often. Hope that helps! will do my best to get the video out asap.
I could not get used to the Curve on the Neo G7, So I ended up returning it because of that. I'm using the LG 32GQ850, But I'm considering getting the Acer Predator X32 FP, Only problem is that the monitor costs $1500, So the Neo G7 is a better value in comparison.
Ya I hear ya, I could see how the curve is hate it or love it kind of thing. I'm honestly loving it, so leaning towards keeping the Neo G7 instead of GQ950 now 😬
Hey - I've been using the Neo G7 side by side with the GQ950 for a few days now and definitely preferring the Neo G7 so far. The HDR is wayy better, like borderline on same level as my LG CX OLED TV for how inky the blacks are. I've been playing games on PS5 and I highly recommend it for that. I imagine XBOX series X experience on the Neo G7 is the same or better! As for on my macbook, it's amazing there too! the curve on the Neo G7 has made me love using split screen side by side windows on mac. It's awesome. I was hesitating with using it for work because of the curve, but nahh I don't agree with people who hate it, I love it! If anything, it makes me more productive. One thing to note that I don't care about is the colours do shift if you're not looking at the monitor straight on.. hasn't bothered me though since i always use it right in front of me. Anyway, that's my 2 cents.

Funny that i compared exactly the same monitors for exactly the same setup. I’m glad that you and i agree on the LG but I have yet to receive the monitor to try 😃. Main consideration is the screen size for work and probably better for the single player games I play on my ps5. I figured that since I don’t play in a dark room Sony’s HDR advantage probably is minimal while in SDR LG seems to have the advantage as well.

Yes, I agree with your analysis.. though I ended up going for the Samsung Odyssey Neo G7 after comparing it side by side to the LG GQ950 here: th-cam.com/video/oQsKJAwQkb8/w-d-xo.html&t The HDR was just much better on the Neo G7 because of the 1,196 local dimming zones compared to the 96 on the Sony InZone M9 and the 32 on the GQ950. However the curve and poor VA panel viewing angles on the Neo G7 might make you want to stick with the LG GQ950.

No issues so far with my Neo G7 though, daily use for 4 months now 🤞. Also side note, I've been having flickering and oddly enough burn in/image retention on my LG Dual Up monitor which isn't even OLED lol. Purchased just this past December too. gotta send it back to em for repair for second time tomorrow 😬.. no issues with my LG CX OLED TV though coming on 3 years now.
I have a 28" 4k Lenovo monitor that was around $300, but has no HDR, and my 55" bravia destroys it. If the inzone price drops to around 750 then I might get it to alternate with my 55". Thanks Jon Snow.

Hey onion master lol, what do you mean by that? It can work without a PS5, yes. Like you can plug in your macbook or pc and use it as a regular monitor no issues. The InZone doesn't come with any display cables though, so you will need that. Compared to the LG GQ950 which comes with both an HDMI 2.1 and DisplayPort cable.

Lg 32 gq950 does not support allm and the black equalizer, and man other functions on the ps5. I Prüfer the Sony inzone m9 because you can use all funktions (allm vrr). 32 edge lit dimming are sometimes annoying. Lg 32gq950: + 1000 hdr +32 inch + AMD freesync Premuim pro 3.5 mm audio put with dts headphone X (4 pole) Sony Inzone M9: +auto tune mapping + supports allm +usb - c You can use more functions like black equalizer. +Direct Led (96 LDZ) It supports every function for the ps5. It has only hdr 600 and amd freesync premium.

My main issue with this cheaper monitor for gaming was that it had a bit of black smearing in god of war cut scenes which means I saw some black streak across the screen when there was fast movement. The ppi on 27 is better and the ultra sharp is better on the inzone, bigger screen larger ppi means wide pixels

You'll definitely either love it or hate it though as there's many people i've seen online who don't like it. I don't mind it even when editing videos though..the display is not all that colour accurate (neither the GQ950 nor the Odyssey Neos) so I just reference my macbook when i'm trying to dial in the colours. I prefer the contrast and colours overall on the Odyssey Neo G7 though vs the GQ950.. they just pop more to my eyes and have more contrast.. especially when you turn on contrast enhancer setting on the Odyssey Neo G7 and G8.
I heard from 'monitors unboxed' youtube vid that the Neo G8 has 'scan-line' issues when just using it on pc or something.. that's why i went for Odyssey Neo G7 plus it was considerably cheaper when I bought it here in Canada and I don't need the higher refresh rate the Odyssey Neo G8 offers since i'm just using it with my ps5 and macbook. Also I prefer the black body on Odyssey Neo G7 vs White on Odyssey Neo G8.
When gaming, I much preferred the Odyssey Neo G7s HDR for single player games, it looks pretty much as good as my LG CX OLED! The 1196 dimming zones vs just the 32 edge lit dimming zones on the GQ950 make a huge difference. As for the curve, it doesn't 'immerse' me all that much more but it doesn't annoy me neither. Motion handling and smoothness when playing call of duty was awesome too and I didn't feel like I had to turn off HDR to have better experience in call of duty like I did with the GQ950.
So if you can go see the Odyssey Neo G7/G8 monitor in action somewhere to get a sense of the curve before buying that's the safest bet. Also you have to look at the display head on vs at an angle as the colours shift when viewing it at any angle vs on the GQ950. Wasn't an issue for me though and I watch TH-cam videos on it from all the way in my kitchen 10m away pretty often. Hope that helps! will do my best to get the video out asap.

I could not get used to the Curve on the Neo G7, So I ended up returning it because of that. I'm using the LG 32GQ850, But I'm considering getting the Acer Predator X32 FP, Only problem is that the monitor costs $1500, So the Neo G7 is a better value in comparison.

Hey - I've been using the Neo G7 side by side with the GQ950 for a few days now and definitely preferring the Neo G7 so far. The HDR is wayy better, like borderline on same level as my LG CX OLED TV for how inky the blacks are. I've been playing games on PS5 and I highly recommend it for that. I imagine XBOX series X experience on the Neo G7 is the same or better!
As for on my macbook, it's amazing there too! the curve on the Neo G7 has made me love using split screen side by side windows on mac. It's awesome. I was hesitating with using it for work because of the curve, but nahh I don't agree with people who hate it, I love it! If anything, it makes me more productive. One thing to note that I don't care about is the colours do shift if you're not looking at the monitor straight on.. hasn't bothered me though since i always use it right in front of me. Anyway, that's my 2 cents.
Also, ya peak highlights are great on Neo G7. Gets real bright, brighter than my LG CX oled at least 🤷

Funny that i compared exactly the same monitors for exactly the same setup. I’m glad that you and i agree on the LG but I have yet to receive the monitor to try 😃. Main consideration is the screen size for work and probably better for the single player games I play on my ps5. I figured that since I don’t play in a dark room Sony’s HDR advantage probably is minimal while in SDR LG seems to have the advantage as well.

The HDR was just much better on the Neo G7 because of the 1,196 local dimming zones compared to the 96 on the Sony InZone M9 and the 32 on the GQ950. However the curve and poor VA panel viewing angles on the Neo G7 might make you want to stick with the LG GQ950.

@@ceramicmagic4169 I hear ya! my friend returned his Neo G9 twice and third one was defective too and I heard the is G8 riddled with QA issues. No issues so far with my Neo G7 though, daily use for 4 months now 🤞.
Also side note, I've been having flickering and oddly enough burn in/image retention on my LG Dual Up monitor which isn't even OLED lol. Purchased just this past December too. gotta send it back to em for repair for second time tomorrow 😬.. no issues with my LG CX OLED TV though coming on 3 years now.
I have a 28" 4k Lenovo monitor that was around $300, but has no HDR, and my 55" bravia destroys it. If the inzone price drops to around 750 then I might get it to alternate with my 55". Thanks Jon Snow.

Can the inzone work on its own?
Hey onion master lol, what do you mean by that? It can work without a PS5, yes. Like you can plug in your macbook or pc and use it as a regular monitor no issues. The InZone doesn't come with any display cables though, so you will need that. Compared to the LG GQ950 which comes with both an HDMI 2.1 and DisplayPort cable.

@@AlexanderShelestov Based on the reviews I've watched, it's supposed to be a lot better for HDR especially.. 576 local dimming zones on its miniLED panel vs Sony's InZone M9 only has 96 local dimming zones. I have not tried it personally though.

Lg 32 gq950 does not support allm and the black equalizer, and man other functions on the ps5. I Prüfer the Sony inzone m9 because you can use all funktions (allm vrr). 32 edge lit dimming are sometimes annoying.

Hey man, thanks for watching! The best/only gaming monitor I tried under $300 is the one below which I made a video about comparing it to the more expensive GQ950. My main issue with this cheaper monitor for gaming was that it had a bit of black smearing in god of war cut scenes which means I saw some black streak across the screen when there was fast movement.
