- Another Khasi food vlog! Mylliem village in Meghalaya which is 20 km from Shillong is known for its traditional Khasi food restaurants. We wanted to have the dishes called Doh Thad which is smoked meat, and Doh Snam which is blood sausage.

As in an earlier video I did comment on acquiring the taste of fermented soya beans/ dried fish. Once you have gotten into it, you’ll never go eat rice without the dried fish / fermented soya beans chutney. If you had watched the movie “ Axone” it’s the same thing. Nagas call it “Axuni/ Axone “. Pork curry prepared with Axone, bamboo shoot and ghost chilly is a combination made in heaven.
Man you are missing at whole lot. Develop your taste fast. Go to that Naga place in B’lore again and again 🤪
Dried fish is a delicacy in every NE state including Sikkim and the fermented soya beans are also used in Nagaland , Meghalaya, Manipur, Sikkim that I know of. Not sure about the other states.
As for non veg heaven, the entire NE is a non veg heaven. Only the non NE people are pure veg, ORIGINALLY , like those settled from the North Indian states.
Haha, I’m sure if I eat it enough I will acquire the taste! I’m leaving Bangalore soon, but I’ll visit NE soon again and explore all of the food 😀

you can also go to a pizza hut in Pebi if you do not feel like having khasi food and i love shillong and my mother is from shillong so we go there every summer vacation i get from school but due to pandemic we couldn't go to shillong for 2 years:(

There is fish in Tungrymbai 'Tung 'is the short form of 'ktung' which means dry fish and rymbai which means bean so it consists of both
It's the topic of great debate: is there fish in Tungrymbai? Discuss! 😂
No! There's no fish in tung rymbai.Tung here it means pungent smell of the fermented beans.Whereas,tungtap it means fermented fish and yes here it is the short form for ktung 'tung'.
You said you don't like fish so you didn't taste the other chutney but you did eat it in PB the one you called red chutney 😂 the Tungrymbai is a chutney made with fermented beans they are fermented for a year it have a pungy smell that's why maybe you thought it has fish in it
Haha yes now I have understood that even though I don’t like the smell of fish the red dry fish chutney is the one I can eat, and the green fermented soya bean chutney smells too much like fish 😛 so I can’t have it
