@@kyakaruvlogs2784 the trails in cherrapunjee were no joke - took us HOURS to hike to the double decker bridge and back (and we event stopped at the single decker one... which we liked more haha)
if you go to the eastern and northern part of Meghalaya we use bamboo shoot as well for the base . like bamboo shoot cook with smoke pork , bamboo shot with chicken ,bamboo shoots chutney etc. and we also use a lot of spices like cardamom , cinnamon, bay leafs king chilli , cumin , coriander , black pepper , cloves in Jaintia hills .
wow!!! now that sounds like something we're interested in not sure how the bamboo shoot would taste; would probably be unique seems like there are a lot more spices used in NE Meghalaya because we didn't use any of those super aromatic spices like you've mentioned
Jaintia and Khasi are the same tribe except the garo tribe. Most important ingredient in khasi food is the turmeric, zinger and black sesame seeds. Beef is also another important protein we eat.

@noshivore Try the ribhoi local cuisine of the Northern Part of Meghalaya called "Mei Ram-ew cafe",at Khweng village under Bhoirymbong or even a restaurant 'JA DHI' purely traditional at Nongpoh.

@noshivore yes more are there but majority are khasi and garo ,there are small tribe like hajong,rabha,koch,karbi, etc. I'm local too,what I said is khasi is collection of hill tribe who are in the same umbrella " khasi" ,many sub tribe include maram ,bhoi ,war ,langam,pnar( jaintia),mylliem,khynriam,jirang .

"Khas" doesn't mean hills. No one really knows what Khasi means. What we know is that "Kha" means to be born so maybe Khasi means Children of Si. This is just a personal speculation and not canon😅😅
@@noshivore In simple terms Matriarchal means everything is in the hands of the woman....Matrilineal means the succession and descent in the women's line but the head of the house is still the man and so the Chiefs of villages are also still men.

Yes jaintia are khasi but not all khasi are jaintia ,we are comprises of many small territory mylliem ,bhoi,war,maram,langam,jirang,jaintia
Actually there is only TWO tribes in Meghalaya...Khasi and Garo .. Jaintia is not a tribe...they are subtribe of Khasi...so Jaintia are Khasis
