My favorite part of this movie is that if you watch it again you can notice that every time Mother Gothel says “I love you” or kisses Rapunzel she is always directing it to her hair and touching her hair, but with Eugene he is constantly moving her hair away from her face so as to see her better! It’s such a subtle detail but so impactful and well thought out!
Apart from the cgi, this feels like it's straight from the Disney Renaissance. In other words, amazing. Rapunzel and Eugine form such a strong romantic connection, maybe the strongest in any Disney film. You can feel so much true love between them. Both Pascal and Maximus are hilarious, (but especially Maximus,) and even though the king and queen never speak a word, the anators telegraph their dialogue perfectly. You know exactly what their saying and how they feel.
My best friend and I were in high school when this came out. We were watching a movie (Invictus) at his house when his mom said he had to go with her and his sister to go watch this new Disney princess movie. He desperately asked me if I wanted to come too and, being the great friend that I am, agreed to come suffer through it with him. Holy cow were we surprised at how much we as teenage boys enjoyed this movie. It was so unexpected and I'm so glad I went to see it with him and his family. 😂
This is my favorite disney movie! (I like this better than frozen lol) I like that flynn is not the pure charming male lead, he is someone who ended up in the wrong path due to poor environments but his heart remains in the right place The scene where he cuts rapunzel’s hair is still one of the best unexpected scenes in a disney movie! Loved your reaction! Andrew is becoming my favourite reactor
@@Michelle-DiPalo I never really understood the Frozen hype that movie was mediocre at best imo like it's passable and does what it should but the story didn't really feel compelling it was an okay story but Frozen is just mid imo
@PizzaMadeMeFat I agree 100%. I thought it wad cute and enjoyed it the 1st time I saw it, but the hype made me get so sick of the movie, especially when a superior one (IMO) was released not too shortly prior. I also got sick of all the accolades it was getting about breaking the records previously held by The Lion King. Like, of course it broke those records, movie tickets cost way more now. Unless they are going by number of tickets sold, which I know they weren't.
I don't know why y'all are hating on frozen here , it really IS a good movie with a good story and characters , powers and all , the way it was not about romantic love but sisters love is so heartwarming as well , and season 2 was even better with all the history and past mysteries and the characters development, the story was so interesting and good , and the spngs of both frozen 1&2 are awesome classics , i think it's deserve the hype and it's not overated it's really good , it's one of my fav Disney movies if all time tbh , since i was little i loved it so much and used to see elsa and anna as me and my twin sister , so nostalgic
17:48 This was, in my opinion, the saddest part of the movie. That couple, as powerful as they were, have been clinging to this desperate hope that their daughter is alive for 18 long years. Every year, they had to confront the idea of their daughter being gone forever.
What I love most about this movie, besides the movie itself (my favorite Disney film). Is that so many scenes everyone, especially Rapunzel , the animators were very generous with "Micro expressions ". In the boat scene with the lanterns when first viewed by her she must go through 20 changes in about 10 seconds. From the direction of her eyes, head tilt, corners of her mouth, the small chest exhale. All imperceptibly change making her more real. As for the music? "I see the light" beats Aladdin's " A whole new world" as the best romantic song !
as a child i would come downstairs in the morning to the kitchen where my little tv and couch was, i’d get the dvd player out and i’d watch tangled over and over until it was bed time 🤣 before my grandad passed he gave me a book ‘tangled’ and i’ve kept it ever since ❤ it will forever be my favourite movie
I'm a huge Disney fan and this is definitely one of their best. One thing I love is that the tear that heals him at the end brings it back to the beginning because he says the flower grew from a single drop of sun and she healed him with a single drop/tear from herself.
im glad that you clocked in on how raounzel was able to heal flynn with her tears. most people dont realize that it was because her mom drank the golden flower when she was pregnant with her
This is tied at first place for me with Encanto, this movie is a gem! The voice acting, the singing, the music, animation, and everything you said about the struggles and overcoming them! Plus Maximus is the ABSOLUTE best!
I love anything Lin Manuel Miranda does too, so of course Moana and Encanto are two of the best! Alan Menken is a gift to Disney, and I LOVE what he did with this movie!
Loved your reaction and I love this movie. In many ways, it's the last "traditional" Disney movie. The most annoying thing is that Gothel is such a great villain and yet this is the last Disney animation to have a proper villain, rather than a misunderstood antagonist or something like that.
@@ArturoGonzalez-di6rd While I don't quite consider Wreck-It Ralph to be part of the traditional Disney fairytale range (it's not a musical), I admit I forgot that came out AFTER Tangled - so I'll allow it!
Totally agreed. Now Disney has gone for anti villain era. Thing about Mother Gothel is that she’s the last villain who actually falls in proper villain category while at the same time giving sense of doubt to viewers of a ‘what if’ scenario with her character when we know she’ll still make the same choice. That’s how good Gothel was. Sadly the era of true villain dies with her.
This is my most watched Disney princess movie, mostly for Flynn 😍 Fun fact : There was a round table meeting held for all the female staff and were asked to describe what they like in a male. Most of them came up celebrity pics. A culmination of all their suggestions lead to Flynn's character( which th3y did a really good job at I say) 😁 The creators said that animating Rapunzel's hair took the longest and also was the most expensive part.
One cool detail I don't see many people pointing out, rapunzel couldn't have known to paint the royal symbol except from memory so when she finally saw a royal sigil as what it was, it clicked for her why she was unconsciously drawing it
I was 16 years old when I saw the movie for the first time....now I'm 19 and I've seen the movie for 1000 times I think and I just loveeedddd your reaction guys ❤❤❤ Thanks a lot for reacting on it ☺️❤.... Lots of love from India ❤
What makes Gothel interesting is that she's just as evil as any other Disney movie villain but she doesn't revel in it the way most of them do. Gothel doesn't care about Rapunzel in a genuine selfless way but she also doesn't necessarily enjoy her suffering either. Stockholm syndrome goes both ways and while Gothel definitely didn't love Rapunzel like a daughter, I wouldn't be surprised if she saw her as almost a pet or something like that. Compare that to a character like Hans from Frozen who went out of his way to explain his evil plan when he could've just let Anna die. That's the kind of cartoonish evil that we're used to in Disney villains. That doesn't make Gothel less evil. It just makes her a more grounded and realistic kind of evil.
I have watched this movie more than any other disney movie. I suggest y'all watch Tangled the Series as well. Best disney movie ever and an exceptionally strong movie when compared with other animations and even live action movies. Deserved even more public love. And the series is just as well structured and entertaining.
Definitely one of the better semi recent Disney movies. Zachary Levi, Mandy Moore, the animators (especially with the facial expressions), and the soundtrack all killed it! It’s one of the Disney movies I don’t mind watching over when I babysit my nieces along with Moana out of the newer movies that is.
In case u don't know, every fairy tale actually created as brutal, dark, gory, etc. probably to incite fear and make sure readers take those lessons seriously that were conveyed in those stories. Later, they were mellowed down while getting translated to suit the pallate of children. Disney (old one, not the new age crazy one) had a huge part in it too. If u ever read original fairy tales from original languages, u will be shocked how dark they actually were 🙏
Indonesian fairy tales have plenty stories regarding disobedience to parents. There's this one fairy tale about a mother swearing her child to become a stone because her child doesnt recognize/forgets her💀 So many wild things
I wished you spoke more on Eugene death it was very impactful and mentally hurt rapunzel physically and spiritually after losing her powers it was all she had but Eugene would rather die and let rapunzel be happy with her family but rapunzel need Eugene as in a need not a desire her last hope before breaking her heart in too, was singing and the last remaing powers came through her tears when she sees Eugene alive again the dark mentally left rapunzel eyes replaced with hope and happiness the first thing she has ever felt. It was dark for a disney movie of the mid to late 2010. It should be talked about more
This beat out the original beauty and the beast for me as the best animated movie Disney ever made. And it’s the last great movie they did make. It’s a perfect film.

Great reaction. It made you a little emotional. Donna Murphy was in the movie Center Stage. I highly recommend checking it out. The main male dance star in that, was a pupil of Mikhail Baryshnikov. Zoe Saldana is in it too.
Tangled, Princess and the Frog, Brave (I think it’s not Disney) and Eldorado (can’t remember if that’s Disney 🤔) they all have a special place in my heart ♥️
I knew you guys are gonna love Maximus ! I just love these animated movies. You guys can watch Bolt or Up next , if you haven't watched any of these yet.
Just wanted to add there's a fan theory about Maximus, that he's a high-ranking officer who got transformed into a horse somehow but refuses to step down from his guard duties, and nobody else really has the authority to tell him to do so, so the kingdom just kinda quietly ignores that he's a horse because he's the best guard they've got. If you have the chance, I highly recommend the Tangled: Before Ever After movie and animated series (Tangled: the Series or Rapunzel's Tangled Adventure, title seems to vary). Great characters and some amazing songs.
