    YES Danni!!! Loving the umbrella hat and shout out 🙌 we just laughed so much that Dan is a trend setter!!! 😃😉😍 We condition our Strawberry beds by just pouring woodchips over the whole bed and plants. Weak plants die back and breakdown and the young runners and strong plants just grow through. They seems to love routing straight into woodchip we find. 💚✌🌿

      Haha the umbrella hat is so handy thanks for the tip off!
      Yes that’s such a good way to do it, i started chipping my beds by accident 6 years ago when I just had too much woodchip to know what to do with, happy accident 🤣 I was just incredibly slack a couple years ago and didn’t hand pull the seeded ranunculus over summer and still suffering the price - no amount of woodchip will strangle those bad boys without killing my strawbs off too so it is time to just stop complaining and crack on 🤣🤣

    Hi I’ve just started following you! Would love to know how you got the aerial view of your allotment. I’ve used Google Earth for an aerial view of my plot but it’s a very old shot. Yours looks recent. 🤗

    It's hard to telll from the video but that might have been asbestos cement flue/chimney. Best to get it checked out before you work on replacing it. Won't cost much to get the rest of it removed safely.

    • @danniinthewild
      @danniinthewild  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I’m glad someone noticed and mentioned because it looked like asbestos to me (my allotment was full of it when I took it over) but the whole thing has come off now so I’m just left with a much safer brick chimney that I will buy a flue pipe for. It’s not the end of the world it’s asbestos because I think that means that now the council have to come and clear it away 😁

    Danni love don't worry about the squirrels if they want in they will be in... unless you are willing to trap them .

    • @danniinthewild
      @danniinthewild  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I deter wherever possible because if not it would be a free for all here as it has been in past years 🤣 I’m not against trapping but it’s illegal to release them back in the wild so would have to kill them. if I was living solely off this land I would trap and eat them but that seems a bit unfair when it’s their garden too and I have food in the fridge 😆 saying that, I would love to learn more about setting snares and traps in prep for the impending apocalypse so perhaps allotment squirrels could be the place to start 😂

    Hi Danni, cover your beds with leaves and take a look at Garden Like a Viking on TH-cam his past year or so, he's brilliant, he lived with tribes for years and knows the best organic ways to grow stuff, JMS is a must for your soil.

    • @danniinthewild
      @danniinthewild  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey Graeme! Welcome! 🙏 yesss great tips! Not sure how long you’ve been watching for but yes my entire growing space is topped with organic mulch (leaves, trimmings, woodchip spent compost, mushroom substrate etc) in early spring and late autumn each year and i definitely notice the difference it makes from my control bed that I hand pull. I’ve read quite a few books on Korean natural farming and incorporate some methods (for example the soil preparations are easier to gather in JMS/KNF than the biodynamic preparations so I do tend to make up those.) I have found through experimentation that my personal gardening methods are a blend of permaculture, biodynamics and Korean natural farming, I’m not the best at following rules so learn what I need and make my own 😁

      @@danniinthewild Use JMS on your house plants and watch them explode, I've got some plants that are crawling up my walls, much better than the plastic ones from the bargain shops lol, make LAB and use it too, you also get a lovely creamy cheese as well, just rice wash water and milk at 10 to 1, it's also very good for you.

      I just wanted to document a full year in my plot and now I have!! The tour videos take a full day to film and edit so I’m going to use that time to make videos I’m more passionate about but I will continue to do updates from the plot and perhaps seasonal tours instead! 🥰
