It was lovely to meet and work with you! Your dedication to learning and humble approach showed because the books you made are beautiful and skillfully done. Thank you for the shout out!
Hats off to you for never being satisfied with your skills, no matter how great they are! I just traveled to Osaka Japan for a two day class with my new hero and a great mentor Eiko Nakao, where I learned leatherwork and made my best book to date! Before this, I was 100% self-taught (largely from your videos). It’s a great feeling to take the next step and formalize my bookbinding learning, and I respect that you are still learning!
I’ve been doing some of the courses in the UK from Shepherds. It is amazing the difference a tutor/instructor makes. Only done level 1 courses so far, and looking forward to getting into leather coverings soon. Eager to see what else you come up with as a result of the course. A real inspiration.
Chanel, wow what an incredible accomplishment! I am so happy for you. Your continual pursuit to grow and learn is inspiring, and the books you made are so beautiful. Thanks for sharing this special experience!🤎📚✨💫
I was unaware of trimming only the top edge of a text block. 🤔 I've wanted to find a course for a while, but it's all about the time and cash. Thank you for sharing your experience!
Thankyou for sharing your learning and thoughts during the course. I've recently bought a plough and love ploughing; it's very meditative. Seeing the finished books at the end was nice ...you have lovely headbands and well-made grooves in the books. :)
Yeah, courses and equipment are not cheap but as with most things buying quality as opposed to cheap is worth it. I'm slowly but surely saving up with the plan of doing some courses in the future so it was nice to see some feedback on your experience and I agree that having face to face instruction is always going to give you so much more than other methods.
You did a great job .. !! I myself am a bookworm and love to bind books, that's so satisfying and time consuming . Looking forward to learning from you , Thank you very much ❤️ .
Thank you so much for letting us see how your classes are set up and how you have proceeded with various tasks! Looking forward to more videos on class projects. Hope the amazing Lucy kept busy in your absence! Thanks.
This is awesome. I admire the dedication, and attention to detail. I am not a ”book nerd" but a traditional craftsman. I do blacksmithing, do I see how many of the tools you have used were made. I have recently gotten into dip pens, and journaling, so this is very interesting to me. Thank you for the video. 👍👍
I love getting to watch you learn and grow at a skill and love that you already had such talent in, both natural and hard work-created. I hope to be that committed to an art I love one day, but for now I'm happy dabbling...
Hi, Chanel! Long time no see :-) Hope you're doing fine. It must be awesome to attend in-person classes of such high level! Congratulations for making it! This video prompted me to look for similar classes here in Brazil, and I found a place that offers workshops every year relatively close to my home town. Hopefully I'll be able to attend next year! Have a good one! ❤
I use airbrush to color edges of my notebooks. it works perfectly, applying a thin layer and not sipping through. The whole airbrush kit on Amazon was $80 with compressor. It would be a nice touch to have that option added to your beautiful books.
Hello 🤗 Chanel 🌹 Thank you for sharing this video I really enjoyed watching it and I Appreciate that you shared it Your 2 books and Amazing Congrats 🎉🎉 ☺️🌹💌🖌️🎨📚🦄🤗❣️❣️
It's so cool to see your binding practice begin to overlap a bit with what Phil does on Four Keys Book Arts! Such different aesthetics but such equal levels of dedication and artistry, it's so much fun to see ❤
I'm so happy you made it to the AAB! You truly belong in this school. I wish I could have been there learning with you, but I know we'll study together at some point in the near future :)
You're such a talented maker your books were so pretty!!! One day I hope to be able to go from converting my softcover books to hardbacks and be able to make something as pretty as you have!
Great Video! Hello can you please make a video showing us how you can make notebooks similar to that of the Campus Notebooks typically used in anime! Thank you
My favorite video you made, I can't seem to find again. "Step by step book binding" Also have you ever used a sewing frame? if you did, did you make a video?
I”ve also heard that wheat paste has its own risks : it is more vulnerable to insects, which may find the wheat to be a nummy meal. Did they cover this risk in your course?
It was lovely to meet and work with you! Your dedication to learning and humble approach showed because the books you made are beautiful and skillfully done. Thank you for the shout out!
aww thanks Holly, you are a great TA. I'm glad to see your works in progress too!

Hello! I would love to know about this class in Osaka. What should I google for it to appear? I’m Japanese so I can search in Japanese just fine.
Congratulations! Beautiful work
what a lovely location to work in 🥰
wow, beautiful binding, and really interesting vid, thanks

That's exciting! Learning in-person with others is such a worthwhile experience.
They’re beautiful! The green one reminded me of a watermelon, but the blue one is my favorite one.
Very valuable video. Thanks for sharing your experience.❤
Thank you for this peek into the bookbinding course. I'm so tickled for you, Chanel!
Really awesome! We’ve been wanting to attend this class as well to work on our craft more, great video.

Hello 🤗 Chanel 🌹 Thank you for sharing this video I really enjoyed watching it and I Appreciate that you shared it Your 2 books and Amazing Congrats 🎉🎉 ☺️🌹💌🖌️🎨📚🦄🤗❣️❣️
Thank you for all you do
I just took the bookbinding 1 class there. I will take the second class next year. It really is a great school!
I'm excited for you!
It's so cool to see your binding practice begin to overlap a bit with what Phil does on Four Keys Book Arts! Such different aesthetics but such equal levels of dedication and artistry, it's so much fun to see ❤
Lovely video, your decision is inspiring, the work looks beautiful and, best of all, subtitles in Portuguese! (written with Google translator🙂)
Thank you for the inspiration!
I'm so happy you made it to the AAB! You truly belong in this school. I wish I could have been there learning with you, but I know we'll study together at some point in the near future :)
I can't wait to go back for more courses so I'm sure we will cross paths!
OMG you were able to go!!!!! I want to go to AAB so badly! Luckily I hopefully will be able to within the year!!!
You're such a talented maker your books were so pretty!!! One day I hope to be able to go from converting my softcover books to hardbacks and be able to make something as pretty as you have!
I was literally researching the AAB last night! I'll take this as a sign from the universe that I should try to take one of the courses in 2025. 🤗
It's a special place, hope you make it there next year :)
I hope you plan to share your new information with us!
I think Chanal said she will make some videos on her classes - looking forward to these vids!
Great Video! Hello can you please make a video showing us how you can make notebooks similar to that of the Campus Notebooks typically used in anime! Thank you
Can you DM me some examples of these anime notebooks on Instagram?
My favorite video you made, I can't seem to find again. "Step by step book binding" Also have you ever used a sewing frame? if you did, did you make a video?
Seems like you’re looking for this one:

I have not used a sewing frame, a few of my classmates did.
@@bittermelonbindery Thank you
This is so inspiring! I’m so happy for you that you’re diving into this opportunity to perfect your craft. Wishing you the best!
I”ve also heard that wheat paste has its own risks : it is more vulnerable to insects, which may find the wheat to be a nummy meal. Did they cover this risk in your course?
They did not actually... Conservators use paste all the time. I would imagine getting paste powder from bookbinding suppliers would be the way to go.
Thread has a grain?! Mind blown 🤯
Beautiful ❤
I've looked high and low for a square like the Grosso brand you bought. I'm struggling to find any in the US. Is there a source?
I don't know but this is their IG, you can contact them about where to find one: instagram.com/herramientasgrosso
If you are interested here is a site I found with a lot of pdf files on historical book binding you might find interesting.
What kind of glow do u use or recommend?
there are academies for bookbinding? I'm living in the wrong place :'(
Use EVA not PVA
☺👏🙂
