Moved here about a year ago. I take the negatives I hear about it with a grain of salt. I grew up in a very poor part of California called the Central Valley. Trust me, I appreciate Pueblo! There is plenty here to do (and for cheap!) And similarly to where I grew up, if your looking for trouble, it's easy to fine. But if you are NOT looking for trouble, its fairly easy to avoid. Pueblo has its nice areas and not so nice areas. I live out on the Southside near City Park and it's VERY peaceful. Within a a year, I developed a very long list of things to do: dozen or more museums, Riverwalk, City Park/Zoo. Lake Pueblo State Park, Union Avenue District/Union Depot, some other absolutely gorgeous parks (my son actually visited and proposed to his fiancee on the bridge at Mineral Palace)......and I became addicted to fishing out here!
That’s because it’s a Rust Belt city and doesn’t fit the typical “Colorado” image of mountains, ski resorts, luxury cabins and pretentiousness. It would fit in well with Ohio, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Indiana or Illinois. I really like Pueblo, btw. Looking at buying a house there.
A lot of other Midwestern, post-industrial cities have the same problem. The collapse of manufacturing jobs and lack of outdoor amenities means people leave seeking greener pastures and very few new folks move in.

So is Denver but at least housing in Pueblo is affordable.
