Spamming national parks is one of the most satisfying things ever. Now try this: Build the Eiffel tower, put Reyna with forestry management in a city full of floodplains and spam national parks OVER the floodplains.
There is a Mario character mod that Ursa once played that has Daisy. She can place single-hex national parks as special improvement, so you can have 100% coverage. It is super fun.
About Feed the world vs Work ethic: I still can't see how these +6 food from shrine and temple are more valuable than a boost from extra +8/16 production in the early stage of the game. With that in mind, that would be a fun experimental multiplayer game to play: Peter VS Peter, where one goes Work Ethic and other - Feed the world. P.S. Ursa, your videos are really-really great! Thank you for the way you play and for your optimistic and fun commentaries! And of course a special thanks to your wife for the marvelous editing :)
I'd think that going with preserves also makes feed the world a bit redundant. If you were mostly going for a great work/rockband culture victory with a secondary win condition in mind (science/military), it might make sense but for a ntl park culture victory I just don't see why you'd double up on food and have no production.
Feed the world allows you to expand into non tundra regions better & focus on other districts than preserves such as TS, campus or CH - it's less specialised and more generalised imo
While on paper Feed the World might look equal or better in some occasions it very rarely is. Lavra is always cheap unique district, you mostly drop it with at least +6 bonus which extremely fast turn into 12 with the card. That's 12 production that can translate into anything after with the least possible investment. Tundra is usually easy to find, there are few civilizations with bias to it and the AI does not usually settle it. It gives you speed and flexibility. Feed the world requires you to actually have the shrines and temples to work which either means production or gold. I'd only consider it stronger after I do my first couple of scouts and see no viable tundra spots or someone steals Dance of the Aurora. I've tested 2 different map setups taking both and the speed work ethic gives you immediately and, more importantly since you are almost bound to go wide, for every new settlement could not be matched in any of the games I tested.
Whenever I play Russia, I always like to settle on the edge of the tundra, so you can still get a few farms and plantations in each city while getting the benefit from the tundra.
Seeing this play through makes me think you were definitely the Joker of the Civ Give. In the words of Alfred Pennyworth. Some men just like to watch the world burn
You should try work ethic with Brazil, they do it even better. Brazil work ethic genuinely might be the strongest civ in the game..! (as long as the map isnt terrible for them) Stack Sacred Path with the Brazilian built in adjacency bonus for rainforest and you can get +12 holy sites base, which gets doubled to +24 faith and production with the +100% holy site adjacency card, which is just stupid. And you can do it quite easily in many ciites! Pedro is incredibly underrated.
When I play Peter like this and I have barb problems I make an apostle or two and hope to roll Heathen Conversion. No more barbs, bunch of units for me.
Feed the World Russia is better IMO. You need pop to work all the tiles that Russia has because of its ability and high culture. Working more tiles means you'll have the production and you'll not struggle with food in the tundra. But also, Canada on cold Lakes is just as broken. You don't need FtW with them with farms on tundra. Plus the amazing mounties.
The Russia fairh-engine in Civ 6 has always been broken. Even before secret societies, even without preserves, he lavra synergy has always been ridiculous - I used this basic strategy years ago to fund a colonial war machine. You xan ramp so fast that with a halfway decent start on a tsl map you can use monumentality to buy at least one settler per turn EVERY turn for two eras.
@@UrsaRyan absolutely. I built a stupidly massive empire that took up the top third of the map or more, didn't build a single military unit or buy any with gold, just prayed them all in. it was the first time I'd built a religious empire to do something other than go for a religion win, so I just used faith as the currency for a domination lightning war.
The greatest troll ever would have been to hype this up a bunch at the start as your doing the Russia 'meta', only to go Feed the World and act as if you sincerely think that that is the Russia meta. Comments would have been wild
The reason that Pantanal doesn't count as a rainforest/jungle, is because the Pantanal isn't a forest, it's a swamp.
It should count as marsh for Etemanaki and lady if the reeds and marshes IMO.
@@parkerdoole7029 Agreed.
Absolutely fair!
@@parkerdoole7029 That synergy would be utterly insane. Imagine those yields.
Tundra with woods just looks so pleasant
Makes living in Alberta a little nicer
Harvesting deer to plant a forest - that's some interesting environmentalism happening here. XD
It's aggressive conservation
i did this golden gate bridge combo once in a city with 5 national parks all pulling in about 150 tourism each! It's VERY fun
I really want to give this more of a try!!!
Bull moose teddy with a film studio goes absolutely crazy

Add the Biosphere and those parks will be awesome.

Whenever I play Russia, I always like to settle on the edge of the tundra, so you can still get a few farms and plantations in each city while getting the benefit from the tundra.
We do need the trans-Siberian-railway for the railway victory
Hmm, maybe if you played with the tall mod and had one massive city, you could squeeze in a load of national parks. This was certainly fun! Huzzah!
Huzzah!! Yeah that sounds fun
Huzzzah. Can’t wait for the National Park game!
Huzzah!!
Chorus is just showing how broken Russia would be if Peter had an actual ability
Menelik noises intensify
I had a nzinga game this week with reliquaries and mont saint michel, I had about 2000 tourism :)

Satisfying that the empire actually resembles real-world Russia on the map
Seeing this play through makes me think you were definitely the Joker of the Civ Give. In the words of Alfred Pennyworth. Some men just like to watch the world burn
Haha - wait till you watch the recap vid xD
*great game, ursa. cheers* 💪👍
Dam I was hoping you would complete the loop around the north pole, but peter is just too strong

Only issue is you can't build the rainforest like you can forest
Now Norway on the other hand...!
Huzzah for chilly preserves and national parks!
Huzzah!!
Hey ursa! Do you remember that fire starter build? 2:51
Oh no I remember that one
behold our snow, it is the greatest snow in the world
Today on Civ 6: Russia Best Peaceful Civ
Ursa 29:00 was that a Terminator 2 reference I heard?
haha maybe
Oh that’s one spice hot take!!!! Feed the world > work ethic!!! I will not abide this!!!
At this point you could start feeding barbs with settlers and builders so that they could convert into city states faster
Huzzah! Early Bear Legion ⚔️
Huzzah!!
Would this have afforded the biggest Vampire Castles ever? Small price to pay to improve a tile near a grove...
Tempting!
Let's gooooo

Thank you Ursa!
Thank you!
Maybe Harmonist Daisy with golden gate +Reyna + Eifel

When I play Peter like this and I have barb problems I make an apostle or two and hope to roll Heathen Conversion. No more barbs, bunch of units for me.
Always a smart play!
So many preserves it should be called the Marmalade Empire

only way to prove feed the world is better is to go back in the save file to religion being founded and play with feed the world and see how ya do
Very tempting!
