  • So this video may be a surprise to some of you who are close followers of mine.... A surprise in the sense that this is the first time I have ever posted a full tour of this truck on the channel, so you may not have even known I purchased it. Another surprise due to the fact that this is a farewell video as well! Yes, you heard it correctly... So long Tacoma, and hello........ to its replacement which will be revealed on the channel within the next week or so. My wife and I absolutely love this truck as it holds many precious memories, like taking it on our honeymoon and also it has never let us down.
    11,000 Miles and ZERO issues at all!
    One hint I will give you about the vehicle we are trading this in for -
    it has 4 doors.

    I'm buying a 2023. 2.7 4x4. The reason is reliability and durability. Could care less about zero to 60. I want zero to hundreds of thousands of miles. And years. I'm not interested in seconds.

      To bad people today think they have to have every bell and whistle there is in their vehicles, all that does is drive up the cost and is more things to break. The price of vehicles today is just stupid. So many take out 7 year to 9 year loans so they can get that top of the line model and end up underwater all much the last few months of the loan term. I just purchased a 2023 Tacoma SR access cab 4x4 2.7.

    I have the same truck in white. Mine is a 2019 model. I love it!!!! I am retired so I don't drive high mileage. I've owned the truck for four years now and have only 8,800 miles on it. This will most likely be my last vehicle as I am 61 years old as we speak. I would highly recommend this truck!!!

      Too funny. I’m also 61, and we are trading in my 2008 FJ for a 2023 Taco SR access cab 4 x 4 with 2.7L I-4. I am hoping to have this truck from here on out. I love my FJ, but having to flip the rear seats down every time I loaded up to go to the beach (we live in Kill Devil Hills, NC…the outer banks here) was a pain. I understand why the FJ has such a cult following, but I never go off roading other than going through beach sand. I’m looking forward to the Taco, not needing the V6, alloy wheels, or even the double cab. All we have for that back seat are 2 Frenchies, so the access cab works perfect for us. We DO have 2019 Tundra 5.7L double cab go toe our Airstream, so this Toyota will be mainly for around town and any trips made without towing involved.

    • @rockbay79
      @rockbay79 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@RichAnthony77 I really think you will love the Tacoma, I sure do. I wish you were closer to Arkansas because I would buy your FJ. Do you mind if I ask the mileage and year of your FJ? I'm currently looking for one and attempting to gather used car pricing. Again, I really think you will enjoy your Tacoma. Currently I have 10, 600 miles on mine with absolutely no issues or problems. Funny thing, every time I take my Tacoma to the dealership for an oil change, they approach me wanting to know if I want to sell it. I politely tell them no I'm fine. Take care.

      @@rockbay79 it’s a 2008 with 125000 miles on it. I’m selling it ti the dealer for $8500, then buying the Taco. We wanted to pay off our 2019 Tundra with the $8500 so we only have one car payment.

    I have the 2022 model with the 2.7. I’ve had it through Lake Tahoe in the snow, unplowed roads, no it’s not fast but it gets the job done. Mine doesn’t have keyless entry either though, and the only thing I wish would have been done differently was a lock on the passenger door instead of having to walk around to the drivers side. As for auto high beams, I don’t use it, I’ve had it flash in front of other vehicles and I don’t want people thinking I’m flashing high beams at them.

    I would have been fine with the access cab, but I had to have the 6’ bed and the V6.
    I looked for almost a year before finding the one I bought.
    I’m very pleased that it’s Not Silver, Grey or Charcoal Grey. Those colors are everywhere and 99% of them have the worthless (to us) 5’ bed.
    I was looking for a White, Barcelona Red or a Lunar Green. I’m glad that mine is White.
    I only drive 5-6K miles per year so I’m quite sure that my Tacoma will outlive me.

    That's exactly like my 2022 Tacoma except mine is white. I added the hood deflector and bed cover, and running boards since my main gripe is that it's 2-wheel drive but the same height as 4-wheel. My wife and I are retired so not as spry as we once were. Mine has plenty of power but the programmed throttle response is very sluggish, so I added a Sprint Booster for $300 and now it's perfect for me. You said you might get another in the future but now Toyota has gone to a 2.4L turbo only which I wouldn't touch. I see you traded for a Santa Cruz, so hopefully you have good luck with it, but I think you will regret getting rid to the Tacoma in the future.

    Had a '16 in white while I was in San Diego. Put the TRD Pro grill on and color matched rear bumper. SR5 wheels and Nitro 4.88 gearing. Truck was sharp, rode plush, parked easy, good mpg. Towed well in 4th gear, motor was revving but these are indestructible. Moved on to F150....after 2 years Im getting the same truck but with the 3.5 and 4wd as Im in snow country now.

    My previous Tacoma was a 2018 SR 4x4 2.7 with the utility package in the exact same color as yours. I couldn't stand the stock steelies and installed a 2" leveling kit, 33s and 17" beadlock wheels. It was underpowered and kind of cramped, but it was a fun truck. Traded it in with 30k miles in late 2020 for a '21 Tacoma TRD OR DC 4x4 in Voodoo Blue because I really wanted the v6 and the bigger back seat.

    I find driving in S5 is best for getting decent MPG and ability to climb inclines. D/6th gets me worse mpg vs S5 given all the downshifts.

    • @clover7359
      @clover7359 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      From my experience driving a 2020 Tacoma SR and monitoring fuel consumption on a scangauge 2, it's situational. If you're consistently going against a headwind or gaining elevation, S5 is basically equally as efficient as S6. If you're consistently going downhill/tailwind, S6 reduces fuel consumption by 5-6% which is only about 1 MPG gained. Also, S4 vs S5 is about 15-18% if 5th gear is accessible.

    Santa Cruz
    I may or may not have used my detective skills there. I like the simplicity of the Tacoma SR. I hope you like the new truck! If my skills prove correct, it’s a beautiful color.

    After owning my 2004 Tundra Double Cab LTD, 4.7L V8, TRD Off-road with All Weather Package with almost 300,000 miles on the odometer, the frame rot is forcing me to let it go. I'm waiting patiently for the last 4 weeks for the Taco SR, 2.7L base level with 4 wheel drive to leave the parking lot at Vera Cruz, Mexico, even though it has been assembled tor that long already. Nobody seems to know why it won't ship yet, but there's speculation that it's waiting for PC chips to arrive for the ECM, or maybe get it's upgrade in the stereo head. At 73, I'm over the "bells & whistles" phase. Now I want just basic transportation with slightly better mpg. You have my interest in your next vehicle.
