- These are my top ten tomatoes of 2023, and I'm saving seeds from all of them to grow again next year. Tell me what you think in the comments. Have you grown them, or will you now? I'd love to know.

You make amazing videos. Love them. Thank you for all your hard work trying to capture the beauty and describe the flavors. Very Professional.
Thank you so much and apologies for the late reply, we lost a member of the family a few weeks back and everything got put on hold.
@@veggieplotsorry for the loss. May God guide you always!
Nobody knows , best over all tomato is the parks whopper period . Baseball size perfectly round and no cracking . Great taste and everyone I tell to try it love it . Best tomato 🍅 for a fabulous BLT is the delicious tomato 🍅 big tomato 🍅 and only few cracks . A slice of it is larger than your bread love it . 😎👍🍅
I just checked it out and it looks like they have an improved version too which looks like a proper red tomato. Decent size indeed.
Hi Mate, could I just ask what indeterminate baby plum tomatoes you would plant if you were a beginner using a greenhouse? Thanks
I don’t grow many plum tomatoes so I’m not sure I’m the person to ask. Although not plum tomatoes, the indigo cherry drops I grew this year have good flavour, are a small round tomato and quite prolific. I grew Brad’s Atomic Grape for a few years and it’s delicious when ripe but takes ages to get there in my climate. I’d check out TomatoRevolution if you’re in the UK for a wide selection of interesting heirlooms. Lance might have some plum tomatoes in his selection this year.
@@veggieplot Thanks so much for your response very kind ;-)
Does anyone sell like a sample pack of these sort of tomatoes
I have never seen one although I did create a pack for folks in the UK who bought my record book. Quite popular but very fiddly to put together.
Try growing honey comb from saved seed just to see what you get
I have thought about it and might if I have enough space this year... we'll see 😉
You are the second youtuber to say that Alice's Dream was the best tasting tomato they grew in 2023. Thank goodness I have already bought seed for next year, think they will be hot property. Fingers crossed that I can grow them as good as you. Jo Devon 🙂
Alice's Dream is well worth a try Jo, and I hope does well for you next year, perhaps I should sell the seeds I've saved 🤣
Same on Alice’s Dream!
I much prefer honeycomb to sungold too. Far superior flavour and it doesn't split when you look at it. I really enjoyed black beauty last year and will grow again. Your mystery tomato looks like black strawberry, which I also grew and liked very much.
Honeycomb is delicious isn’t it, so many flavours and not just sweet. Good to know I’m not the only fan 👍🏻
lol you definitely have a tomato type! I put a couple of yours on my Try list, so thank you for such a thorough review.
That's great to hear Elisabeth, which ones did you choose?
@@veggieplot Michael Pollan and Summer of Love. I have a Word doc wish list and those two are officially on it. Can't wait!
Was really interesting following your tomato videos and actually Jessie at plot 37 also rated Alice’s dream so if I remember I might give them a go👍🙋🏻♀️Thankyou for feedback on them
Ah, was it Jessie? She has such a great channel and I'm pleased she though Alice's Dream was great too as she has good taste.
Thank you so much for all the effort you've put into these tasting videos. I agree about Honeycomb. I will also grow Crimson Crush, a very blight resistant F1 which guarantees me a crop every year. Not an outstanding flavour but better than nothing! Also, perhaps contentious, I feel there is a place in a mixed salad for a tomato that doesn't overwhelm the other ingredients. Alice's Dream really appeals so i will try to track down seeds.
Have you tried Crimson Blush Lin? It's a larger blight resistant tomato but has better flavour that the Crush, although I appreciate taste is subjective. I might try growing them outside next year to see if that can survive our usually dreadful blight conditions! Alice's Dream is well worth trying too, good luck next year 👍
Thanks for the great video! Very helpful information for tomato growers. The mystery #6 tomato might be Indigo Apple, although I've never grown it myself
Thanks for the feedback John and the suggestion. I searched up Indigo Apple and it looks very similar although mine look smaller. I also found Indigo Cherry and I think that's what they are as the size and colouring look very similar 👍
Black prince
May be Daniel.
You, sir, are a man among men! Greatly appreciate your comments on the Black Beauty tom as I am on the garden fence about whether or not to grow it this year. After watching this vid, I will not be adding it in 2024. I agree with all that you said and usually forget about those issues. Garden notes would help me, I know, LOL! Also because you raved about Dr. Wyche's tom in a previous tasting vid, I had to procure some seeds for my own garden this year so thanks for these vids! Can't wait to sink my teeth into some of what the Dr ordered!
Dr Wyches is a lovely tomato so I hope it does as well for you as it did here. As for Black Beauty, I'm glad someone agrees with me, although I do wonder if some different seeds from another supplier might help.
Talking about the Honeycomb tomatoes.
My black beauty started like this…. I found with regular feeding it really made a difference… mine were huge and tasted amazing… easily my favorite tomato.. the only complaint is it splits easily
I must try harder with the BBs next year as everyone raves about them. I do wonder if fresh seeds would help as they have been disappointing 2 years running now.
@@veggieplot 🤷🏽♀️ I’ve had my seeds for 3+ years…I got them from baker’s creek but I will save seeds this year from my own BB
Why don't other people comment ? That is one hell of a tomato list and It was a surprise to me that Amish sherbet didn't get to the No 1 spot but at No 5 that is good, but Alice's Dream must have been good, Might have to try it. Thanks for your Fantastic feedback on these great fruit.
I have no idea why I don't get many comments Graham when other channels get dozens! I appreciate your feed back though and the time it takes. Good luck with your toms next year 👍
How tall is Michael Pollan tomato ? Internetul gives different information.👍🍅🍅🍅
It grew to at least 6ft in the polytunnel last year. I hope this helps 👍
Thank you for the reviews Much appreciated. I’m always looking for new varieties to try
You are so welcome! There are so many varieties to try (10,000 I think) that I rely on what others suggest too.
De costeluto are our fave beef cooking Tom along with Roma and san marzano they all make amazing sauces and salsa. We also love black cherry for salad toms. We grew a black one but too long to ripen won’t grow them again. Tigerella nice bigger slicing salad Tom and we also like sweet minions as they lovely for snacking so sweet
I have yet to try Roma but may be next year. I think Brad's Atomic is out for me next year as they take too long to ripen too. Probably just need a longer season than I can give them. Thanks for the feedback Mandy.
I love these tomatoes!!! I got my seeds at Wal-Mart. About 2 weeks ago. I was on a quest for them. I had ran out of seeds. I give them the Tony Haze green thumbs up!
Me too Tony, they're great aren't they, so many flavours and not just sweet.
thank you for very Professional video, great job
Thank you again
Thank you so much. I have only a small area to plant so expermenting with new tomato varieties is very difficult and this was so helpful
Hi Kate and sorry for the late reply, we lost a member of the family a few weeks back and everything got put on hold. I hope you get to try a few of the varieties in the top 10 as they're all delicious 👍
Only got small greenhouse. Are there any of these you would recommend that have some blight resistance please.
Hi Michael, I don't seem to get any serious blight issues when growing these tomatoes in the greenhouse or polytunnel although outside I think they would struggle. The best blight resistant tomato I have grown is Crimson Blush, which are a big tomato with good flavour for an F1. I might try growing them outside next year as I haven't grown any outside for years.
I have 20+ new varieties to try this year, including Alice’s Dream! Excited!
Alice's Dream is a wonderful tomato, when do you start seed sowing where you are Bob?
Beautiful video ❤❤❤ Allah bless you and your family ameen ❤ lots of love and respect
Thank you again for your positive feedback 👍
that unkmown tomato looks like stripes of NY
Thank you, I'll look that one up. I haven't heard of it before.
Hi
Please
Which tomato variety has highest yield?
Thank you
Oh goodness me, they're all so different and with different qualities that I don't often consider yield. If pushed though, I'd say that the Kaleidoscopic Jewel heirloom tomatoes were very good croppers.
Alice is very good and each year is in my green house. Are also similar very good tomatoes like Anna Rusian, Rumjana, Zapotec, korlow and many others.
Nice to find another fan of Alice's Dream. I haven't heard of the tomatoes you name but I'll check them out.
Do you have tomato Aurija? If not you will be surprised.
Love the line up! Hasn’t been the best year for me but am thankful for what I got! 🙌🏼 including Alice’s and I concur! But one of my pet peevs is “anthro” or “anthrocyanin” 🥴 it’s Antho or Anthocyanin 🫶🏼
Thank you and thankfully we can all have another go next year, especially Alice's Dream, as it was so good. You're right about Anthocyanin, I hope I've been getting it right. Apologies if not 👍
OMG I never heard all this varities of tomatoes can you please tell me what kind of tomato that is disease and pest resistant, thanks
Gosh, the only varieties I’ve grown that are blight resistant are Crimson Blush and Crush, although they’re not all that exciting compared to these.
@@veggieplotquestion is what’s the best remedy for blight? I use baking soda and water and it seems to help. I’ve heard hydrogen peroxide and water work as well.
where do you get the seeds? Very interestng discussion.
Hi Frances, my seed suppliers can be found on my website VeggiePlot.uk under the heading Diary and then at the bottom of the Tomato Seeds for 2024 article. Thank you for your feedback and I hope you find some seeds to try 👍
I think your mystery tomato is Queen of the night! Thank you
Thank you for the suggestion, I'll check it out 👍
Unknown Instagram tomato looks like indigo rose
Yes, it certainly does, thank you.
Would you show how to make pizza hut style pizza with the best tomato 🍅 sauce of these?
I could try Xavier although I'm no pizza chef. I'll add it to the list and thank you for the suggestion.
@@veggieplot hehe rarely seen in gardens, from the wheat 🌾 to the tomatoes 🍅 so i thought of saying it. Thanks for the content it really makes selecting these so much interesting since i organize in a document the seed names to shop. Like pizza hut ?
Ideas for number 6: indigo apple, indigo rose, or mll firorers…but my vote is indigo apple
Forgot to say I’ve been growing honeycomb for 3 years now since it released in 2021 and I also love it. Agree that it tastes the sweetest when it ripens to bright orange
Oh another fan, I love them and back on the list again for this year, although I'm trying a new open pollinated tomato which might rival it... in tonights video.
Yes I think it is one of the Indigo varieties too.
We love honeycomb we will always grow them.
We should start a fan club as they're the best aren't they? Really lovely little tomato.
TY this was very helpful.
Glad it was helpful Robin and thank you for the feedback 👍
#6 Possibly. Pink Siberian Tiger
9:49 looks like indigo apple.
It certainly could be... it looks very similar, thank you.
Another great list!!!
Thank you Bob.
Another fan of the 'Honeycomb' but will look out for the seeds of Alice Dream , thanks for uploading your results
Thank you Barrie and nice to know there are more people out there who love Honeycomb as much as we do. If you can get Alice's Dream, they're well worth a try, really delicious.
Great list!
Thank you Rachel
as soon as you held up those tomatoes, and said you'd grow them every year, if you got the seeds....the seeds were inside them - I'm out.
I think you're referring to the Honeycomb F1 at the beginning of the video which although they, as you quite rightly point out, do have seeds in them, being F1 tomatoes, the seeds will not grow true to their parents and I would not end up with the same sweet and delicious tomatoes as the fruits I am showing you in the video. Because Honeycomb tomatoes grow from F1 seeds, I need to buy fresh seeds from the seed supplier every year, providing I can find them on the shelves. Honeycomb are quite different to all the other tomatoes in the video, which are heirloom and open pollinated tomatoes from which you can grow the same tomatoes year after year. I hope that clears up any confusion.
@@veggieplot It does, thanks....start breeding those tomatoes, so you can nail those traits down for the rest of us to enjoy lol. An F1 is only the beginning of an heirloom.
Really inspiring and motivating. I've the urge to shop for seeds after watching this.... 🫣
🤣 that is the trouble isn't it and come springtime it'll be even worse, I'm terrible at refraining from buying seeds!
