Spot on simple and step by step for someone who has never done this. Did the tasks as I watched and my system is backing up right now. I feel so much better. Thanks heaps. Can't believe I hadn't eve done this. Instructions were so easy to follow.

Thank you! Thank You! Thank You! I so appreciate you thoroughness in this video. I was stressing about buying a new computer and moving transferring all my files over. You made it so easy. Partitioning my drive was a breeze and helping me to understand WHAT was happening was helpful too. My Time Machine is backing up as we speak.

If only I found this video sooner, it would have saved me hours of googling.. Very clear explanation and helped me solve my problem of getting a back up and drag and drop option. Thank you!
Question: Would you recommend excluding anything from your back up in Time Machine? I don't want to waste space on unnecessary data.

I only exclude usb drives and or other external hard drives.

Excellent , clear explanation ! My only question is : does Time Machine make a duplicate of my mac hard drive ? So I can transfer every single aspect of my existing computer. ?

Do files made after the backup automatically save ?

Great video. I followed your instructions and everything seemed to be fine-except-I have 960 gb storage my Mac shows used and after 24 hours it shows only about 300gb backed up and the time remaining isn’t calculating time remaining. Seems to be paused. I am using a Sandisk 2tb SSD drive. Thanks.

Is apple time machine back up something that is always set up to an external drive?
What external drives would you recommend?
    SSD or HDD ?
18TB drive is massive what brand did you go with ?

    • @TechandDesign
      @TechandDesign  ปีที่แล้ว

ssd would be best since its way way faster than an hdd. I personally like WD since they seems to be better than seagate and are cheap

My WD drive dropped and broke I have very important information. I bought a new one but unsure how to back up old files to new drive. Do I hit REPLACE instead of both? Your videos are so easy and great but I think I am just stressed of the thought of losing all the files. Please help 🙏 TIA

Are you able to help me with my MacBook Pro. I installed my WD My Passport and can't backup because the backup disk is not available. I don't know where to find it. I do enjoy your videos.

@@TechandDesign I did but I didn't see where you discussed what to do if the disk is not found.

okay since you unplugged your external without ejecting it first. you could have corrupted it hopefully and not broke it.
      just erase again

Hi when I am doing a backup using my hard drive from seagate a message keeps popping up that says I have 2 drives in my macbook that has the same name which I presume is Macintosh HD and Macintosh HD - Data. How do I solve this issue?

@@TechandDesign not entirely as I already formatted my drive to work with max by following the instructions given when I connected it to my Mac.
