I took this cruise several years ago on the Amsterdam. It was absolutely fabulous! We took side trips in every port, helicopter ride to the glacier, tandem canoeing with a walk through the forest for salmon chowder, homemade biscuits and thimbleberry jam and many more side trips. I would highly recommend this cruise line and this itinerary. Excellent food and service. I would have loved to retire in Victoria,
The photo of the eagle was majestic. Well done sir, well done.
Thank you for sharing. We are going in July 2024 on the same ship. Your pictures and explanations are wonderful. The Eagle pictures are outstanding!
Many thanks. You will have a blast!
Im also on this cruise around same time! Like the cruise experience 🎉
I will be doing this cruise in a couple weeks. This will be my 3rd Alaska cruise. I am a 4 star Mariner with Holland . Love all their ships and service. Cruising is the perfect way to travel with friends and family. Also being able to hang your clothes and not have to live out of a suitcase, to me, is great. With so many options on excursions it’s hard to decide which one to do.
Cruising is a true vacation for those who do the cooking and cleaning when at home.
Great photos!
Thanks for visiting
Did the same cruise in 2022 on the Eurodam. We love HAL and the Eurodam. The only complaint I have about this route is the length of stay in Victoria. 8 pm to 1130pm. Not enough time to truly enjoy this beautiful city. To make matters worse is the time we arrived. 8 pm is pretty late and excursions were limited. Thanks for sharing
Agreed. We live close to Victoria and can go there any time, so we stayed on the ship.
my husband and I are going June 2024 and it will be our first cruise. Your video was very informative and helpful. Thank you for sharing.
Glad it was helpful - you will have a great time!
How exciting! My husband and I are also going on our first cruise and it is to Alaska on Holland America. It's coming up soon( the beginning of July) and i truly appreciate you sharing your experience and your beautiful pictures. So many decisions to make and I'm getting so excited. We're doing the one way from Whittier to Vancouver on Niew Amsterdam.
Thanks again for your videos.
You will have a great time. Thanks for watching.
You have some excellent camera views...(Im sure they were just a fraction of what you shot) well done!
Thank you, and thanks for watching.
Going on my first Alaska Cruise on Holland America July 22, 2023 on Eurodam
You will have a great time!
Great job, we are doing this trip in June. Anything you would do differently if you were to do it again? More or less specialty dinners, more or different excursions, sail from Vancouver instead of Seattle, etc?
Good question and hard to come up with answers because we had such a great time. I did think of a few though:
1. Definitely book your excursions as early as possible. We almost missed out on our whale-watching trip but were lucky due to a cancellation
2. We purchased the daily spa package, but didn't really make much use of it.
3. All 3 specialty restaurants were excellent, but our favorite was Tamarind. That said, the included dining options are all excellent - really high quality. We never got around to trying the burger joint, but it looked amazing.
4. Would go from Seattle again, but mainly because we live nearby. If (when!) we go again, I would certainly like to see some different ports of call also.
Have fun!
I appreciate you taking the time to reply. Several good tips in there. I wondered what you thought of the specialty restaurants were using our habit all at pinnacle and then plan to book Tamar on one of the other days. I didn’t want to rack up too much knowing the main dining options were great.
What camera did you use? We need to buy an affordable decent camera for our trip in May. Thank you❤
Most of this video was shot on a DJI Pocket 2 and the extreme wide-angle shots were shot on an Insta360 X3. The Pocket 2 is an excellent camera, but has since been succeeded by the DJI Pocket 3, which is amazing. If you check out the channel, you will find in-depth reviews.
Do u recommend being on the right side or left side of the ship for this trip?
Good question! For this type of trip (out and return) I think either side will give you a similar experience, and in Glacier Bay, the captain does a great job of turning the ship to give views from both sides. I would add that in most ports, we docked with the left side facing the shore.
Can somebody tell me if this ship has trivia? I didn’t see anything on my upcoming 7 day cruise listed next week?
I checked the daily programs and can confirm that there is trivia and music trivia every day - typically in the evening.
@@gwebster65 ok thanks!
What were your sailing date?
