After working with snakes for so long I’ve learned to relax when one goes missing and just begin searching. If you notice they are missing early, you can usually find them pretty quickly.
honestly most impressive part about this whole thing my brothers snake got lost once, the horror once we knew was plentiful (the turd hid the runaway announcement from us for like 2 weeks as if we dont also live in this house) eventually, i found him curled up in front of my door with my terrified cat cowering behind my pillow i almost screamed and it took over a year for my cat to stop obsessively watching the door. which is, in retrospect, actually kinda hilarious considering in an actual fight my cat would've destroyed my brothers snake but my cat is also a massive baby
When I worked at a reptile store we had some guys working on our A/C unit and a snake came slithering out startling all the workers. I quickly grabbed it and dropped it in a nearby bucket to make sure it wasn't a venomous one, and sure enough it was one of our Children's Pythons. Those little guys are master escape artists.
I went to say hi to my friend who was working at pet smart... she had her back to the snake tanks. As we talked a little snake popped out of her hair from behind her ear. Like right by her eyes... she screamed so loud everyone in the store came running to check. The snake retreated when she screamed and was just running around a shelf... not one person working there would touch this tiny ass snake(the store didn't have venomous or poisonous snakes) but they were all screaming and loosing it because it was fast... he's so tiny that if it bit me I'd hardly feel it... so I just walked up grabbed it's lil neck and said where does this go while everyone was just shocked... I still can't believe anyone was scared of that tiny noodle ...

@@tabithaharp9794 There are no venomous pythons! They're all constrictors. A bite can still hurt though and you can still get an infection if not properly cared for. Their teeth curve backwards to help grip and move, so trying to get out of a bite can be fun if they're a bigger species. BUT they don't really go for humans unless you're *really* trying to provoke them, and there's such a wide variety of species. A lot of them are very chill, especially when bred and cared for properly. They can bond with their human, as well. 🥰
Have had a children’s python called Harvey for almost 4 years now and the bugger has only escaped once. My family and I were away, excluding my brother who chose to stay home and throw a party for his 18th birthday. At one point he left to go to the shops, with his drunk friends left at home here they got Harvey out and when putting him away didn’t lock the enclosure. Our cats were home too and were going to be staying in my room with the snake enclosure and it would be off limits to his guests so that the cats weren’t going to be overwhelmed with the inevitable chaos. Harvey slid the enclosure door open, escaped, and we didn’t see him for another month. With cats in the house, and renovations underway so there were MANY ways he could have gotten outside he eventually found him in a bag full of picture frames. My brother felt awful, but it’s safe to say I bring my keys with me everywhere now. A learning curve for all of us.
Do you know why they hatched so early? I raise chickens, and know nothing about snake incubation (learning you couldn't turn them blew my mind, if you didnt turn chicken eggs, youd have a very poor hatch rate), but with chicks, they usually hatch early if the egg is too small or the temperature too high, and both of those can lead to lots of issues inside and outside of the chick
If you hadn't found that one, would you have seen that they hatched? It went a little too fast for me, and I didn't see the difference between the hatched eggs and the others. They seemed normal to me so I guess to know you have to actually pick them up and check
Yes, you can see the slices in the eggs. If I didn’t open and just looked through the plastic then maybe not. But I usually open it at least once a week to check. Glad I did!!
Absolutely beautiful snakes. Bringing back some memories of summer camp growing up with the green snake clutch we incubated at the ranger station. I know different species but just reminded me of how cool that was
Man when my ball python was a baby she was an escape artist. She vanished for 3 weeks and I was losing all hope when she casually slithered into the living room one day.
I don’t know what it is about the younglings that can figure this stuff out! So my Dad for a long time now has raised beagle dogs! And we never had a problem with any of them trying to escape. But apparently 1 of our females once had a litter of puppies who figured out how to climb the chain linked fence & eventually showed or taught all the other dogs how to, ever since we’ve had to a very significant amount of precautions!!! But like the old saying goes, “where there’s a will, there’s a way.”
So pretty! I would’ve been freaking out about losing them 😅
