Getting this for 2 player and solo. Me & my husband LOVE lots of open action spaces, and I quite like BYOS for solo. Great review! Enjoyed the Batman clips too!!
I didn't want to play this game, until this review. I'm not a huge Feast for Oden fan, but I enjoy Caverna and Patchwork. I love to hear the complexity is in the decisions, not the rules.

Cottage Garden is delightful! When I'm in the mood for something light, that's the one. I do love his heavier games too. Just depends on my mood. Maybe if you enjoy Atiwa, you could get into his other stuff!
Interesting how different tastes are. That box cover is what drew my attention. I love the colour pallet and find the bat super cute. Consider me one of the couple of heads turned by the cover.

Considering to buy this game but doubting so much because of all those reviews complaining about the replayability... Only you and Board Game Sanctuary seem to be remarkably enthusiastic about the game, especially about the solo mode! Please help me to decide: is the solo mode interesting enough to play again and again without getting bored? Would it be a good idea to buy Atiwa only for the solo mode? The theme is wonderful and unique, so I hope you say yes 😅
Only for the solo mode? Prob not. It's solid but I like it multiplayer as there is good turn angst. Variety is limited but it's super smooth and I still enjoy playing it multiple times. I think others were being a bit harsh and I bet I can call out many of their favourites as being limited on variety.
I am not the biggest fan of Rosenberg to begin with, but this one was a positive experience. I think I still prefer Nusfjord, which I believe is of the same weight class, but I prefer both of them to most of his other designs...
Looks good, however farming games are not my cup of tea. If I would pick one of your Essen find until now Splendor Duel would be my pick. Still waiting for Starship Captains review 🙂
I play games with my wife so loads of open space and low confrontation at 2 player is a plus for us. Can see how it would be an issue if you like to screw over mates though.
In the German System, "Advanced" = Kenner Spiel level = A step above family games. "Expert" = complex enough to get one Kenner recommendation a year but it will never win (see Ark Nova, Terraforming Mars)

A well done, informative Atiwa review. A Feast for Odin is a masterpiece for solo. Your own meeples blocking you from round to round is very clever.
I mean, it’s just an elegant way to prevent the player from using the same spot in consecutive turns. It works well but a masterpiece or very clever?
I wouldn't call it especially clever, but it's a good system that should feature more in solo modes.

Nusfjord is one of my favorite of his.

Yeah the two are comparable weight wise.

I'll try not to keep you waiting - it's had its multiplayer runs, just need to run through the solo mode.

Shame as I'd love for Ark to have a Kennerspiel, but it's way too much for it.

For me, A Feast for Odin (with the Norwegians expansion) is by far the best Rosenberg game. Nusfjord is his best mid-weight.
AFFO badly needs Norwegians. I just never got into Nusfjord.
