Love your videos :)
Could you do more vintage stuff - like promoting clothing in a vintage style?
The Netflix one is definitely my favourite, that one actually seems like a logo they’d have at the start of a show set in the 80s
LIKE STRANGER THINGSSSSSS
@@BadDoodles when he finished it my first thought was “I swear I’ve seen that in a stranger things episode”
@@SidneyJupiter literally
I am 56, so I remember the 80s still very well. You nailed the Netflix logo 100%, closely followed by the Ai logo.
Thanks!
Something to note for 1970's logos is that most of them were very geometric. Sometimes the wavy font was the logo. But most logos of that time were very symmetrical and flat because they'd be most viewed in newspapers or books, and sometimes on TV. Julian Bevon is a great inspiration for the 1970's abstract-yet-rigid-and-geometric look you may be going for.
I love this! I learned a lot about the 80s from this video. Please do the 70s and 90s style redesign too! 🙏🏻
Will do!!
You just turned 30? Congrats! Hey fun fact in one year and nine months you will have lived 1,000,000,000 seconds
@@MrNobodyX3 FINALLY a fun fact that's ACTUALLY fun!
why’d you cite nike as a “modern” logo? it’s looked the same since like the 80’s. mcdonald’s less so since there was the 90’s-2000’s style which was quite angular
You ain’t old, you are an improved version of yourself
Yeah, a minimal and modern version
I really liker the IKEA one! But the one in the thumbnail 😅
hahaha I know right.
You could've mocked the AI logo onto an old software box and a large floppy disk - one with the hole in the center.
damn, i wish I did now ha
The Netflix text not matching the grid is really irking me 💀
This was a fun episode! Love the 80s and its aesthetics! And you're not old. I grew up in the actual 80s, so...
IKEA BRUTALISM nice!
Your IKEA logo is astonishing. Thank you sharing your preciuous ideas
The issue I have with the Ai logo is that it fails on the fundamental reason it exists - to clearly show the letters A and I. 80s design was many things but in nearly every case it was clear. This was partly due to the tools available at the time, and that 99% of these would have been created by hand and for print, so would have been much more frugal with colour and gradient as they would have been more complex or more expensive to mass produce. The Fila logo being a great example - clear, simple, good use of colour.
Really like the Netflix one. It has Stranger Things vibes.
The irony of someone designing things for the 80s, wondering if 'tubular' is a real word. 😆 You're not old, those who understand that irony are old (like me!).
Love your videos, Will! I'm learning a lot about design (I'm a video editor, but never trained in any kind of design principles). The Netflix logo was my favorite...that grid pattern reads so 80s to me, and I can hear the synthy chord that would strike as that grid shoots in from the bottom of the screen.
hahah thank you. This comment made my day :)
Great vid! Redesign your first ever logos
The ai (base Version) is awesome😀
What! Gradient is so in trend. I feel like the mass minimization of logos was very late 2010s. Things are getting a lot more organic and in summer 2024 so many brands are using colourful gradients and energetic typefaces.
Illustrator really could benefit from looking at old software box artwork. Software icons were really a thing in the 80s because graphical interfaces were barely a thing, I envision an 80s logo for illustrator being a colorful explosion of art supplies and creative fragments.
Love the Netflix logo! The Illustrator logo looks sweet as well. The only suggestion I have is to add a little more space between the top of the lowercase 'A' and its middle part that looks like a 'C'.
Great video! One thing I would say is IKEA’s modern day logo was designed in 1983. Not that it truly matters I get the point, but I would have liked to see a more contemporary company’s instead. That being said you have great artistic vision. Subscribed!
Thank you!
This might be my favourite video you've done (outside of the Fivver challenges).
My favourite design is the Netflix one.
x2
Glad you enjoyed it!
I feel like there's a misuse of symbolism on these logos, the grid for Netflix makes it look like a software company or game company and then the globe for Adobe illustrator doesn't make much sense because it's not a communications or transport company which would use those symbols.
Definitely loved the Illustrator one
The Illustrator one look more like an "Ej" to me
Happy 30th Birthday.
50 year olds are scoffing at the notion that you are old. 'Scoff,' they say, 'Come back when you are 50. We'll be 70.'
Will, l must say....l love the level of creativity you showed in these, nice work
Thank you very much!
I love it
4:19 what was that 5th to the right on top?
0:25 For Burger King, this is not a new logo in the minimalist style, in this case it is a return to the roots (about 40 years ago they had a logo like this)
The ikea seems like a late 80s logo on an appliance which sort of fits with ikea
hahah it does! :)
4:22 oh that's not-
I'm more than twice your age and love watching your videos and have learned alot from you. I would love to see you do 70s and 90s (Especially 70s)
Deal!
Nice work, but I have a comment regarding the IKEA logo. IKEA is an acronym (founder’s initials plus two geographic references), hence a mixed case text is a no-no.
The Netflix logo really brings 80s to 2024.. 😂😂
I think they’re all pretty cool, I think the Netflix and the Adobe Illustrator ones were best. The Ikea one to me looks as if it should be a logo for something else. I do like the highlights though. The thing about 80s design is that it took a lot of inspiration from Graffiti, artists like Seen will say advertisers copied their style, so you can always look at graffiti for inspiration when it comes to the things they did to make letters stand out.
That Illustrator logo on the CRT at 6:12 is so sick!!
Thanks :D
I love the netflix logo you made (especially when it was still minimalistic, could be so dope :), also here is a question about prints: how can i make it so that when i print sthg on demand like on printful or whatever why do the colors turn out so different from what i send them, is this a normal issue, or me choosing the wrong colors, i think a video about this would help a lot of us here
The Ai logo looks good...✌️
Your logo is more like: "Wilson Sporting Goods"
Liked the netflix one but the Ikea one seemed to have that horizontal ellipse off-kilter, to my eyes.
I like modern style
The illustrator could use a little bit of serif to make it more 80’s.
Woah im early, love the vid!
Loved the ai logo 👌
I really like the AI logo!
90s style, please
Illustrator Logo Best :)
Ai 👌🏼

The first and second are good, but your version of 80s ikea logo is looks terrible because the ikea text have almost no contrast with blask outlines and black shadows so the it is too hard to read the logo
Also the ikea logo on thumbnail is much better than video because you changed the colors a bit
What is the name of the of the font designer you mention? I can’t quite make out what you say. Great vid!
