    I went with the MLM2PRO last year and had zero issues with it and zero regrets. I think it is a great monitor. Before I had children, I got down to a +2 handicap. Now that I have 4 children, I don't have a lot of time to golf but want to make the most out of the time that I have. I work from home so I figured getting a launch monitor and hitting balls on my lunch hour, on my patio, would help my game and it has. Even though I still remember all my distances from when I was in my 20's and 30s, they aren't the same as now. Changing carry distance by 5-10 yards on a course can greatly affect your score. Carry distances on the MLM2PRO are spot on. Practicing 50, 60, 70, 80 yard wedge shots is with the MLM2PRO is better than doing it at a range in my opinion. Many might not like the $200 dollar yearly membership but it is a lot cheaper than the money I would spend on range balls working on the range.

    Looking at the MEVO+ because i really want that face impact data, but also no subscription is nice. I don't need a ton of simulator courses, just handful is sufficient for me

    I've had the Mevo+ since it was available, and then I added the pro. I only use it in the garage, and set up has become very easy, with some tape on the floor. I would also recommend this .. I have had zero issue with it.

      Great info. I want to build a simulator in my garage and there are so many options. But I see that the Mevo + has no subscriptions. I like that. Question for you. Do you have any lefty golfer hit in your garage? Is it accurate for them too? I’m a lefty but most my buddy’s are righties and I want to be able to invite them over and play.

    Seriously...these bait and switch sales tactics with the subscription stuff (bushnell, rhapsodo), etc are just not consumer friendly. If you need $4000 as a company to make your profit, charge 4k. If you need to keep generating revenue after that, put out better products every 2 years that are better than the last iteration and we will buy it and you can make your profit again. super lame and confusing. no one wants to think that hard.

      Originally thought the same… a software lock (on the bushnell) seems greedy but after having the rapsodo and seeing the updates that they work on… I understand the subscription cost. Don’t agree with it but I know that it’s paying for software improvements over time. I would rather buy a launch monitor that gets constantly updated instead of having to buy a new one every 2 years.
      With the bushnell… its options. Lower hardware cost gets you in the door but you have higher subscription fees.
      Want it unlocked? Buy the GC3

    the thought of having to pay a subscription to use a hardware feature on a product i have already paid for is just unacceptable. probably gonna go with an r10 just for this reason, even though i would LOVE to have (and am totally willing to pay ONCE for) the extra features of the MLM2PRO

    Thanks for doing this, really insightful.
    I got my R10 at the tail end of the third bout of COVID, after being on the wait list for 8 months, BUT with a pretty cool discount.
    Anyway, I use it on the range, which gives pretty good data, though (as far as I know), there’s no feature that takes range balls into account.
    However, the best thing is taking it on course, during practice rounds. I’ve used for ball fitting (which ball fits my swing best), how far do I hit my clubs in changing temperatures e.g. it’s now 0• C (32• F)and how far does my 7 iron go with my gaming ball, compared to when it’s 10• C, or , 20• C, (50• F, and 84• F respectively). But, mostly I use it for wedge gapping, full swing GW, SW & LW; grip down GW,SW & LW; and 9 to 3 swing GW, SW and LW. That really gave me 9 different yardages under 100m (110 yards), which really got my handicap down from 21 to 13.2 as it is now. I do the wedge gapping about once a month with changing temperature and it really helps.

      The Rapsodo is going to be better across the board. But it's also nearly double the price and has a $200/year subscription. So if it;s in the budget, I'd absolutely go with that. Sicne you wont be using the RPT balls on the range, you wont get some of the benefit of better spin readings, but even without, I'd trust the spin a bit more on the Rapsodo vs Mevo simply due to a new doppler system and the high speed camera.

  • @MichaelJones-ff9gb
    @MichaelJones-ff9gb 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Great information. Been eyeing a LM for some time, but plan on taking it to my club and range. The FS Mevo + is what I want, but the setup has kept me from purchasing it. I am hopeful FS releases a new unit that is quicker to setup (self leveling).

    • @breakingeighty
      @breakingeighty  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      As far as I know there isn't a major hardware update coming to the Mevo+ in the near future. I could be wrong, but I wouldnt necessarily wait for that if its what is keeping you on the fence. And honestly, I know I talk about the setup issues of the Mevo Plus a lot as a major downside, but its really not that bad. Especially once you know what to do and you have a flat teeing area at the range.

    Great video and very insightful! For my use case - I’m thinking of just outdoor range use and occasionally on the course. • @breakingeighty
      @breakingeighty  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      For those ueses, I think the R10 will be great! I just wouldnt expect to actually use it on the course, as that's not really what it's designed to do. If that was something you really wanted, you might take a look at the Garmin G80. Its a GPS/Launch Monitor hybrid. Certainly wont be as accurate at the R10, but provides decent data for what it is.

    Always great reviews! Question. I’ve owned the Mevo, Mevo+, Garmin, SkyTrak, and now have the SC4…all have their plusses and minuses as you mentioned. As my needs and location have changed, I’ve used different ones (move a lot with the military). One thing I really loved about the Mevo+ (other than it being the best LM of all the ones I’ve owned), is that you could upload more than one club of a single type…e.g., I have 3 sets of irons (Miura KM700s, Titleist T150s, and Mizuno MP223/245). I like to be able to compare across them. Most of the LMs don’t let you input more than one club of a type. So, long way of asking, of the under $1,000 monitors, do any allow you to input multiple versions of the same club? Can’t recall if mevo or the Garmin does; I owned those a long time ago…I don’t want to spend a ton of money as I don’t really want it for simulator, or all the other bells and whistles I had with the Mevo+…basically, ball speed, club speed (a plus), carry, spin, launch angle…and a good way to view the data.

    • @breakingeighty
      @breakingeighty  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      This is a great question Pete, and I'd have to go back and do some testing to see if you're able to. That said, for this type of thing I think the Mevo+ is definitely the way to go. A bit more expensive, but their software can function like a full professional device in ways none of the sub-$1k products can.

    • @petegalindez9961
      @petegalindez9961 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Having owned it it is exceptional. However I no longer have my home set up, so is be hiring range balls with it. Hard to pay 2k for a device that is limited by the crappy range balls. I did some checking and it seems the mevo can do multiple clubs, but won’t provide as much data. While it doesn’t solve the crappy range ball issue, it’ll still give relative data.

    Slytrak+ cons pause and small hitting area, mevo+ space, Uneekor eyemini at $1000 off (recently) plus all club data included, range software is free. Obviously it would be great if their sim software was better but as you said subscription fee for 2nd party is low and given the sizable foreign consumer base (income) and recent corporate relocation to the US (growth) I’d guess they’ll be looking to improve to the gold standard pretty quickly. And you can integrate a weight transfer mat and swing cameras for very reasonable costs at any time. Or fully unlock at the original rate at any time. BLP accuracy and price with no necessary fees and plenty of options with no penalties for the future. If I had the space I’d have gone mevo+ but I feel like some of the Uneekor value us getting overlooked here.

    Seems like spin rate isn’t in most devices, then most don’t have lateral or data is a bit inaccurate.
    Or is there one that does all that that I missed…? 😊
    Thanks for your feedback

    • @breakingeighty
      @breakingeighty  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yeah trying to find all of that under $500 is a challenge. The SC4 gets pretty close, as does the Garmin R10 when on sale. And at that price, it's best to use the numbers from any of those devices as "ish". Most of the metrics will be in the ball park. They'll be close-ish. But wont be dead on. But spin being a specific one that I wouldn't put too much stock into at that price range, close enough, but not dead on.

    • @MaartenAnna
      @MaartenAnna 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I have the R10, for almost 2 years now, and I really like it. It’s really good on distance for me, not so much on shot shape as I would like. You really have to have it at the same height as what you’re hitting from, I.e. grass, or the mat. On course I use a laminated A4 to place it on, so it’s not tilted.
      Take note, spin numbers, especially with wedges and driver are a bit all over the place. Add to that the range balls, and you can’t really trust spin numbers at all. I often find it reads or calculates my drives with 3500-5000 rpm, or it can’t read them and estimates 1000rpm; whereas wen I use it on course it usually reads 2500-3000.

    Sean, I’ve been struggling with my new Mevo+ (no pro pkg) setup for a while. So much so that I’m thinking of returning it. Most notably is the side spin data is wildly exaggerated and long club distances are off as much as 10% indoor vs. outdoor. FlightScope has been very responsive (although a little annoying to connect since they’re in South Africa) but we can’t seem to dial this thing in. I’m beginning to wonder if I should return it and look elsewhere. The MLM2 Pro catches my eye as a similar portable item but is it susceptible to the same issues? Does Mevo’s Pro package improve the accuracy or just unlock the D-plane data?

    Eye mini. Since many of the measurements mandate stickers on the balls, doesn't that realistically make driving range use impractical?

    • @breakingeighty
      @breakingeighty  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      With the Eye Mini the stickers go on your clubs, rather than the balls. So you can still get accurate club data when on the range.

    You need to check your affiliate links on the launch monitor quiz. Some links seem broken, specifically, R10

    Good morning, I have question..I am Looking for a launch monitior for carpet range outdoor use, that dont require special balls or stickers on the clubs. So everybody can bring their own clubs... Thinking Golfzone wave is the cheapest and next one the new apogee.. Startrak say it doesnt need but sticker or special balls.. But I am not sure, can you recomend me one you think it work.

    • @breakingeighty
      @breakingeighty  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Honestly if you want the most accurate club data, then most devices in the "prosumer" range will benefit from using the stickers. But I'd consider the Mevo Plus for this. If you get pro package, you get solid club data without having to have the stickers. Using them on that device primarily helps with more accurate spin numbers.

    Rapsodo has the impact view video which is really cool - do garmin and GC3 have same feature ??

    • @breakingeighty
      @breakingeighty  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      They do not. The only other one I've tested that has it is the Uneekor Eye Mini. It's certainly a cool feature, especially at Rapsodos price point. But the video itself aside from being cool, hasn't provided me much tangible value. Where that high speed camera does help though is with the more accurate spin numbers you get if using RPT balls.

    Can the Mevo plus be used with a net? You say 8 ft behind and 8 ft in front... if i put my net 8 feet in front i may hit over the net lol.

    • @breakingeighty
      @breakingeighty  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It can be used with a net, but to your point, yeah it kind of depends on how big the net is and where you're using it. It will still work with less than 8 feet, but the results won't be as accurate.

    So after watching your video to me it seems for most who are unsure re cost to value to usage is buy the garmin first if you find your using it a lot and want more then sell the garmin or keep it as a backup, and buy the flights open whichever version you prefer.
    The subscription options for a home or individualgolfereven for a couple are just stupid these companies need to realise they are not selling to pros or to businesses amd ditch the subscription maybe change it to a base model as a start package then you can buy the additional features as you need the so for example courses you can buy individually or in bundles. Maybe have these add ons linked to your email so if you play a few rounds maybe the kickback for the course is a small discount on a day's or rounds green fee, this will hopefully give an insensitive for courses to want to be added.

  • @Goodgoodsucks

    No way the mlm can be in the under the $1000 area after you have to pay $199 a year to actually use the features.

    • @breakingeighty
      @breakingeighty  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Eh I disagree. It's $699 and you get your first year of subscription free. Then $199 after that. So for 2 years of use you're still under $1k - I think that qualifies.
