probably not too difficult to improvise within the confines of a defined formula, if/when you know the rules of the formula inside out. imo, of course.
WOW! What an amazing set!! I live in UK so it's such a treat to see this performance from you. Over the last couple of years I've discovered the joy of hardware music making, and your channel has been an inspiration. Thank you for all the knowledge and music you share 🤘
@user-wj5zp2il1f the thought of having everything set scares the shit out of me. One thing goes wrong and it’s a cluster. At least improvising I know what I’m getting into 😂
@@SURCOlive and that's exactly why your channel is so refreshing and inspiring. If I keep practicing for next 20 years, I think I'll be ready to play an improvised set...but i will be nearly 80! 🤣
@@user-wj5zp2il1fI'm 59 and did my first solo live jam in June. I was shitting myself as it was the first time I'd been on stage since the very early 90s. Ive only been experimenting with modular since the beginning of this year, but it was a blast. In truth I think it was an awful performance, but I'm too old to worry about that. You should just go with it and enjoy yourself! Look up EMOMs (Electronic Music Open Mic) in your area and jump in. I'm re-jigging my case and getting ready to do another one. Maybe I'll do a better job this time, but I'm just going to have fun! Cheers ✌️

The EOWAVE Quadrantid Swarm is overpowering the mix, especially in sections where the kick should be more dominant. In techno, the kick usually drives the track, but here the Swarm is louder, making it hard for the kick to cut through. I'd suggest lowering the Swarm’s volume or pushing it back in the mix to let the kick take center stage."
Thanks for the feedback. No Swarm in this setup though. Also this was recorded from the mix desk of the house so you are not hearing the low end frequency response from the massively overpowered subs. Always tricky to record live performances in a way that represents the actual sound in a venue. Thanks for watching.
yeah I left my Swarm out of this setup. Shorter sequences are likely either the Erica Synths Baseline or the Basil Pizza, but they could be one shot samples in the Assimil8or as well. I don't really recall.
Simply awesome. I wish there was more content on Improvised techno available online. Your channel has been a goldmine. Thanks for sharing!
Thank for tuning in! Glad it’s been helpful
I’m enrolling now for my course that begins July 11. Check it out at www.SURCOLive.com/courses
Thanks
Any time!!
Crazy this is improvised!

Discovered you through your guesting on EZBOT’s TH-cam channel. I loved that and this live set is fantastic!
Thanks for checking it out!
This is rad!
Thanks man! Dig your stuff too
Some tasty techno for the day!!!
Love it, will have to pick your brain about the OXI next time I bump into you in Denver.
Killer set Eric. Techno-awesomeness and no mistake
Hahaha. I wish there were no mistakes but thank you so much for the kind words.
I'm losing my touch - didn't spot any mistakes Eric
@@sonicindustries227I’m better at covering for mistakes than I am at not making them. 😂
The man, the myth the legend. so good!
Wow what an incredible set! Love the visuals and for bringing the fire all the way to the end 🔥🔥🔥
Really nice Surco 👍
Great Brother! :) Cool how you mix the synth and perc elements! 🔥🔥🔥
Thanks! Glad you are digging it!
there is something so beautiful, so hypnotic and so energetic yet so primal to these type of setups and sound design, love it
Great set.

Such a sick set! 🌩Can't wait to hear more. Also was wondering, do you have any trouble with the Syntakt over-heating live?
It gets warm like any analogue gear, but no problem overheating that I've experienced. Thanks for watching!
@@SURCOlive thanks for the info, that really takes a load off my mind!:)
What do you use for visuals playback, and how to do you sync them to the music?

Which venue in Seattle was this?
Substation

I cant hear high frequencies am I deaf?
