Flying (trimming) a real airplane is so much easier than the sim. I wish the sim developers could get that part figured out.

On the bright side, you do get "check your instruments" really ingrained.

I have the same problem, I’ve never flown a 172 with 4000 FPM variances, I’ve given up and use the autopilots. Thus gives me an opportunity to go through the approach.

In a sim, you have to watch your speed. Otherwise, it'll speed up, causing you to have to keep adjusting trim.

Thanks for posting but I wish there was info on how to program and activate the approach/ frequencies. The fancy nav panel doesn’t get any attention

Glenn thanks for sharing your flight. I'm looking to spend some time in Xplane to get myself back into flying but after seeing the way this things flies??? I'm hoping with a yoke and pedals it might be better. I think I might of put it in the trash can:) No seriously it reminded me of a IFR lesson I had in a 152 and we had a cross wind and chop and i was all over the place. At least in the real plane the trim and flaps seem to help a lot in stabilizing the plane.

Yeah, it is a bit crazy. I have mine finally flying pretty good with the new yoke and adjustments. I am probably going to order me new rudder pedals at some point as well but for the moment these are working ok.

Is there such a thing as a yoke and peddles that can read the airspeed on the sim and create resistance on the yoke to make things more realistic?

What I would like to know is how when I am filing an IFR flight plan on XPlane 11, I can't seem to file a plan i.e V176, Bovie, Direct KPWK
(just an example). It always says it doesn't recognize my route. I am a instrument rated pilot, but it doesn't allow me to put in a plan for routing. What am I doing wrong.

Yeah i was thinking about doing a video in the beech 18 doing a few things and the try to do exact same thing in the sim. Maybe they can figure it out.

Is there a software adjustment for "NULL ZONE" for the aileron and elevator controls for the joystick? I think part of the problem is the cheap joysticks do not consistently "return to zero input." I have no experience with X-Plane but many years ago played with MS Flight Sim. I bought a fancy yoke, but resorted to making control inputs using keyboard NUMPAD. Thanks for sharing your flying experiences.

There is but I think the greatest problem with the simulator is the complete lack of momentum in their calculations. For example: If you are flying 150knots straight and level and you pull the stick back, momentum wants to keep you level and your change from level to a climb takes a few seconds to complete. Same for rolling and yawing. In X-plane these forces take hold instantly and cause the airplane to do things that are just quite literally impossible to do in a real plane.

Hey man same problems with me with the controls and it’s very annoying. Any fix?

No, gave up again :-(. I really wish I could get it where I could hand fly it but just get irritated everytime I try.

Glenn Hancock well I’m gonna buy a yoke with thrusts lever, rudder and trim to practice more. I’m going to flight school this August!!
