Naxos Greece Golden Hour Walk | July 2024

Filmed on Monday 1 July 2024. While most give credit to Oia sunset in Santorini the most epic sunset in the Cyclades is the one in the small islet called Palatia which is connect to Naxos town port for over a century. This island sacred to Dionysus which is the one where Theseus left Ariadne, is famous also for the ruins of the temple of Apollo, an archaic temple wanted from Naxos tyrant Lygdamis to rival the temple of Olympian Zeus in Athens as the largest temple in the Greek world. The surviving doorway of the sanctuary also known as Portara which looks towards Delos makes the perfect scenery for an epic sunset, during summer there's a pilgrimage by visitors and locals to experience the epic Naxian Sunset.
