    The annoying noise turned out to be the hard top. I unbolted it, shifted it 1/8" on the tub, torque it back to spec at all the bolts, and the noise is gone.

      I'm hoping that they will put the hellcat engine in the Gladiator soon thus torque will no longer be a issue. The bad thing is it will then be a 80k vehicle.

    Lots of problems with the Eco diesel on the Ram pickups and Grand Cherokees. You don't want that engine. The driver side mirror and poor seats are deal-breakers. The piss poor seats in the Tacoma are one of the reasons I didn't buy one. I test drove the Ford Ranger and it was ok but nothing special, not for the money they want for one of those. When they update the Ranger I'll check it out again. A big NO to anything from GM but I do like the look of the Colorado.

  • @ALurkingCamper

    I was a huge gladiator fan before I even seen one. I followed all the pages and ads from several social media apps. When our local dealer got them in I was looking day one. I was so excited I overlooked some things. I drove it for a half hour and noticed what a cheap POS it was. I didn’t want to believe it. I came back the next day still ready to buy one. I was deciding between colors and started to really look how they was built. I was mad. I waited so long for them to finally show up and they turned out to be less than a wrangler in quality . I thought they was just like any other new wrangler with a truck bed. They are but the differences are so poorly done. It reminds me of Daewoo engineering and materials. WTF? I apologize for writing this but WTF Jeep?

    Great video with some excellent call outs. I have to say though, I chuckled a bit that one of your complaints was not being able to see whats happening in the lane next to you about 5 minutes after saying that the black jeep had “all the safety things you dont need” which would include blind spot haha. My Jeep only has 124K miles and it's a complete nightmare. Bad light switches, valve lifters, engine bearings, bad trans input shaft bearing. Good luck finding those kinds of problems on a Toyota with 125k miles.

    99.9% of the Gladiator owners would have been happier with a CJ and a Toyota Tacoma. When Jeep aggregated this albatross they made too many compromises and missed the whole point. You really can't use a Gladiator for hard core off-roading and it makes for a ridiculous truck. I appreciate your comments on this vehicle because it highlights the many issues that comes with anything that is NOT purpose built...

    FCA has an alert out for the noise. It is the seat belt bracket they are just tightening it up and greasing it. Take it back to the dealer and they will fix it. But it may be your steps you installed if the bolts became a little loose. Happened on my jk. Supply issues with the trailer brake controller is holding those up. I do wish they made the Easter eggs Jeep trucks instead of Willy’s but I suspect they will in the future, just trying to save a little production time and cost with the recycled jl parts. I had a chance to speak with the production line boss for JT in Toledo, and he said most of the jl overhang is to save on production time. It takes 45mins to assemble a wrangler and 2 hrs to assemble a gladiator. So most is a time saver because they wanted to keep production at the Toledo plant and have to work around some plant issues to do it. Also the dealers can’t order there own packages right now only costumers can. All they can say to FCA is we want a JT. And then they get what they get.

      Currently if you offer to pay invoice on a Gladiator you will probably be told to leave. Demand is too high at the moment. I went to two different Jeep dealerships near me a couple weeks ago and each only had 1 truck in stock. One of them had dealer installed accessories (lift, bigger tires, ect) and was marked up $20K. Apparently most of them are sold before they even hit the lot. At least near me in the NW Phoenix-metro area.
      I'm thinking I wont be seriously looking for one of these until next year. Hopefully by then the novelty of a new model wears off. And maybe by then we'll actually see more info about the diesel going in it.

My Gladiator works well for me, because I replaced a JK Unlimited and a Sierra extended cab with one vehicle. I didn't want to wait and am glad to drive it daily, even with a few issues.

Only reason they acknowledged it is because tins of new jeeps have the same issue sad thing is they blame it on poor service and lift kits and aftermarket parts .aftermarket parts better made than stock actually helped me fix those issues. They just sidestepped fixing that issue unless your jeep is bone stock

    The Gladiator was never designed as a truck from the ground up tbh. I compared one to my 06 Dakota and while the Gladiator does have new features and better fuel economy and such, it doesn’t measure up to what the Dakota can do as a pickup, but again, the Gladiator is more a Wrangler with a short bed on the back.

    • @commonsense3963
      @commonsense3963 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      It was designed from the ground up as a truck. There are certain things that can swap out, (doors, ect) however the grill is larger for air flow while towing, lots of differences. They just didn't take a standard jeep and bolt a bed frame to it.

    • @vr4787
      @vr4787 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@commonsense3963 it’s been a while but to clarify I wasn’t taking about the frame design or any of the mechanical aspects. The features that are on the truck are geared more towards an off roader rather than a towing/hauling rig. It’s not a bad truck, just there are better choices if you need something to haul/tow.

    Jeep probably didn’t want to design larger mirrors for the Gladiator knowing that people would just complain that mirrors stick out too much, like the tail lights. People would just complain that off road the mirrors stick out too far. If people are gonna complain they probably figured, “Fuck it,” and saved the money on designing new mirrors to use for something else that, not surprising, people would complain about.

    I own a TJL with 124K miles and a Tundra. Take that thing back and get a Tacoma. My Jeep is going up for sale. Here's why; headlight control stalk went and drained the battery in the process, ignition switch actuator, a valve lifter sticks, crankshaft bearings shit the bed but the rod bearings had normal wear, bad trans input shaft bearing. And that's just been the past 25k miles. Good luck finding those kinds of problems on an Import
    with 125k miles. In the past 30K on the Tundra I've changed the brakes and oil. It has 98K on the clock.

    All gladiators have a hook up for the trailer brake controller under the dash directly under the steering wheel. It is the same as in the ram trucks. I ordered a redarc controller and ram hook ups and it installed easily and didn’t even have to flash the computer. I feel like I should do a TH-cam video but I am camera shy😂 face for radio! But works and looks great! I think Jeep always planned on offering the brake controller but their supplier couldn’t meet the dead line or specs. And I do wish they had a cool tow mirror something like the ram where they fold out. But they are probably coming just have to be patient. And I wish all colors where available when they released it for ordering. Had to get silver may third choice because I couldn’t wait! I think Jeep did rush this a little just to get it out there before the midsize truck market cools off. But it is a good start and I am sure they will only get better. After all the Jeep Wrangler is fca’s bread and butter along with the ram.

    New to the whole Jeep thing myself. Never owned one, doing my research, have come across this video a couple of times.
    And others of course. You're not along on the "up to go down" issue. I see it as a matter of perception. When I am going through a menu, I think of it like it's written it on paper or displayed on a larger screen. #1 is at the top, #2 below that, #3 below that... Down in direction is up in number. Frankly, it's how I myself expect it to be. It's obvious this is a menu, why would it be arranged in any other way, you know?
    But forward to downshift... I'll give you that one. I think of a stickshift, where first is forward, second is rearward, but then third is forward from second... and this being an automatic that you have, really that doesn't make sense. Even on the 20 year old two door "sports" car I drive daily, first gear is all the way rearward.
    Glad you figured out the noise... I'd be annoyed by that too, and now I know what to look for (a soft-top LOL).
    I wonder if the JK/JL fender well inserts could translate to the JT. Are they so different they won't fit?
    Real men love cats. In fact I'm wearing that shirt right now.
    But what do I know? I want a stick-shift :D

The current gen 2019+ Ram had issues with the outside molding mixing chrome upscale and black WT window trims.
