Once again, Bowser has kidnapped Peach, but this time Mario isn't trying to rescue her quite as urgently. Fed up with getting no reward for his endeavors beyond cake, Mario takes a leaf out of Wario's book and decides that while rescuing Peach, he might as well make as much money as he can.
In this movie, the aim is to complete the game while collecting as many coins as possible without dying, doing so as fast as possible. In fact, Mario collects 1431 coins in total, which is rather surprising as there are only 1225 distinct coins in the game!
If you enjoyed this TAS, be sure to check out , in which Mario completes the game without pressing the B button.
Watch this run get played back on a real NES! ( • TAS Console Verificati... )
Mario is like a greedy money obsessed Italian Murder Machine in this run. I'm surprised he didn't 999,999 the score for good measure.
avder42 "i'll make you an offer you can't refuse"
isn't that the thing that team rocket grunt says after nugget bridge? xD
I don't think it's possible to max the score without sacrificing lives (to go through the loop in 4-2's warp zone more times). Fortunately, with the loop in 4-2 you'd be earning an extra life about every 120 in-game seconds while in the loop, so it would be possible (if very tedious) to accomplish.
@KillerKnight666x xD
Super WARIO Bros.
As Mario is approaching Peach, he's hauling a giant bag of coins behind him.
@@infinite_sun_rays Mama Mia no kidding
Bag with 1431 coins😂
I haven't seen 2-1 in so long I forgot what it looked like
I haven't seen the WHOLE GAME cuz I'm too busy using warp zones lmao
@@tayway210 When you gotta go you gotta go
i've barely seen anyting since my savestates stopped working :(
Ive played 7-3, 6-3, maybe 5 times in my life
I only speedrun any%
warpless takes like 30-45 minutes
I love these "alternate categories" where we get to see a bunch of other tricks...
Wat
@@dead.social.battery this video's category is get max coins. There are "minimum coins" Or "minimum kills" Video
Yea I wasn’t aware that you could clear the ax like they did in 1-4 after killing Bowser and avoid the bridge falling. That was cool. Curious if that is TAS only or just extremely difficult for a human with multiple simultaneous button/direction presses.
The bridge stays up if you kill Bowser with fireballs, glitching the axe grab like that isn't needed. In Warpless speedruns, runners kill Bowser with fireballs and it saves enough time to make up for grabbing the power-ups. Also you can get that axe grab glitch by just crouch jumping and touching the back of it.
@@MDSF90 You can do it on a normal run, you just have to kill bowser. No hard inputs
So the whole "Maxing out your lives turns the 9s into crowns" thing in recent Mario games is actually a throwback to this one? Huh, the more you know.
Targey you can get it to 256 with hacks and break your game lol
MrSleazymoney Agreed. Just tried a minute ago
MrSleazymoney
hey this comment was 10 months ago I was dumb lol
I got the crown as a kid. There was a trick with jumping on a koopa repeatedly near a stair case. It gave you extra lives, but if you got too greedy you died. So there is a max number of extra lives, going beyond that you get stuck at zero.
@Eric Lee wait the lives counter is signed?
Probably the most entertaining TAS I've ever watched. Several times you had me busting up laughing 😂
TAS can indeed be an art form.
I sped up the video for extra comedy.
In lost leveps, the max is INFINITE coins since you can warp back to level 1 or level 5 repeatedly.
facts
leveps
Nah, it's until the life counter gets so large that it fills up the known universe with the number of digits it has
@miku hatzune bro what
@miku hatzune bot
9:45 285 extra coins (19*15)
13:24 208 extra coins (26*8)
23:22 19 extra coins (1*19)
added together is 512 extra coins in total
so 1431 - 512 = 919 unique coins colected out of 1225 total (according to numbers from the description)
theres also 10 1-ups in the game
21:56 NO NOT THIS AGAIN
Hero of the Beach wat
It's the same coin dungeon from 13:14 that he looped for three minutes straight.
Hero of the Beach I
CHILL IT HAPPENED ONCE HAHA
@@FrostMonolith That looping thing happens three times during the run, actually. It's technically impressive, but not very entertaining to watch, honestly.
The hurry up Starman music always cracks me up. They sped it up way too much!
xD I wonder if the game designers had a laugh over that ^^
Timestamp: 16:02
22:12 those wall jumps though.
I question my sanity
I agree
BisciutSausag86 wdym i agree thats nothing to agree with. the correct grammar is “i do too”
ok, I’m sorry.
19:57 The fireballs sync with the music hahahah
And then the crouch-jumping hahhah
At 2:09, Mario walks below floor level. It's so freaky. I played so much this game (90's) and never ever seen it...
That is needed in order to do the full flagpole glitch. Still a nice clip.
Gotta love tas glitches, some truly wild stuff
"Ma, I want a 3DS and New Super Mario Bros. 2 for Christmas!"
"No, son, we have no budget this year. Now go to your room and play Super Mario Bros. on your 30-year-old Nintendo."
It's budget but still much better
santa?
he gets all the coins to save up
I'm just shocked to see it is possible to get all 3 coins at the end of coin heaven.
I think I have gotten those a couple times in the gbc smb deluxe game, but it was never easy
Yep. It's more efficient to use the time in the infinite loop than by getting the coins in those two missed blocks.
26:03 really?
ducking underwater makes things look weird
no
Yazan Kioumgi it’s a bug. After all there are only 256 bits, chillax.
It's kinda hard to explain but if you duck while underwater right, Mario's hitbox will become the same as if he were small. So basically the entire top half of his body is invincible.
@@azestical6566 256 bits of what? That's 32 bytes.

At 9:26, in the stage 4-2, you forgot money in the ceiling. There's a hidden block.
But your TAS is still awsome ;)
Is it related with the glich of the loopy section on top of the magic bean?
I assume the amount of time he saved by passing on that multicoin allowed him to do one more round of the world Warp Zone which holds 17 coins as opposed to the max 16 coins that the multicoin would give.
GFauWFDYJFAWOIWANDOAWIDN IALW WAT
oh that makes sense. I commented about that to.
@@ValtteriNieminen The multicoin lol ^^ Nice reflection there.
16:30 don't give me a heart attack man 😂
22:47 xD Just barely dodging those hammers with pinpoint precision while jump-punching the coin block, and then shooting him after he's done xD Hahahahaha
16:06 How'd he teleport like that?
Left+Right at the same time
For that we need to understand the concept of parallel universes
@@sandeeptiwari5189 glad to see people are still watching this abomination of a tas lmao
2:08
Whoa
(it also happens at 5:04, 7:42, and 19:41)
2:37
how did the ax...what???
4:17
That's gotta be the cleanest clip ever (another very clean clip at 18:54)

Did I just see what I thought I saw
6:07
MARIO JUST TELEPORTED (wow it happened again at 16:06) ((and in 8-4 there was a whole bunch of it))
6:46
I love how with TAS they can do stuff like this
9:30
Now that's a cool way to clip
9:37
I cant even begin to understand how this loop happened.
12:20
haha it can't show how many lives they had because they had so many
13:15
That is one cool way to get in and out of that coin stash
13:31
wow they got it to loop again
21:46
Imagine if you were this cracked
I originally was gonna put in one timestamp but I decided to put in all the cool ones
12:20
Actually, that's not a glitch, that's a crown. They brought it back in later games.
A complete clip through the fire bar in 8-4 water part. Ahhhhh so satisfying.
1:08 when the beat drops
I think I once did a TAS without recording and it was a TAS speedrun of Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels (NES) on my Nintendo Wii U. I reached the pole without any troubles. I went up those stairs like you did in 1-1 fast and got a 1-UP reaching the flagpole, and that was amazing. I wish it happened again.
ah, the times when the level goes well
At the 9:38 loop, I noticed the standing/crouch jump pattern is different each loop. The jumps are in batches of eight too, as in 8-bit binary. I can't be bothered to check right now, but putting in a secret message in binary sounds like something a TASer would do.
Oh shit I need to check this
also in 4-2 he -jumps up the stairs differently each time and- kills different piranha plants each time
and in 6-2
and i have a sense the fireball shooting is different also
13:36 why do the fireballs spit so much faster?
this was actually fun and stressful at the same time.
16:45 What the _fuck_ did that fireball bounce off of!?
Possibly missing it allows him to do the warp zone loop a couple extra times to pick up more coins?
26:03 WTF?
This has got to be a classic one
Wow. Never thought I'd see someone run 2/3 of a Mario backwards
Or run into literally everything and not lose fire power once
The one firework gets me every time
Also im pretty sure Toad is thanking mario for not ending him...
What do you think Tas Mario does to Toad before leaving the castle?
censored things
23:04 - Dope Fireball remix, bro.
love how in 2-2 you play the theme woth fireballs
You missed one.
@Eric Lee thats the joke
This is not wario land
Youre right, it's New Super Mario Bros. 2
How about Super Mario Bros. "maximum kills"?
that would be pretty boring
that would be impossible since they keep going on in 8-4 for infinity
You have time though.
Edgar Auzarays Enemies respawn. If you go to a newer SMB and go backwards you would see they respawn. You can get maximum kills in one frame though. (Basically 256 enemies in one area it will break though)
the preemptive cheep cheep fire flower shots pleased me
Best TAS, would recommend, 1431/1225
You must be new here.
This is no cheating since you can do all this things in the original game, no external code injection or hardware manipulation. Glitches are part of the game and completely accepted in the speedrun community. Using them doesn't make the run less valid, and, as a matter of fact it usually does the game more difficult to run, but (almost) everything is allowed for the sake of going as fast as possible.
Was this meant as a reply to a comment?
Yeah it’s meant as a reply
22:14 THAT WAS THE BEST GLITCH I HAVE EVER SEEN THAT WAS SOOO SATISFYING! (like you wall jumping and stuff i know about bullet bill glitch)
Those endings after no time though.
If Mario did this 12 more times he'd have paid off half of his student debt!
after 171,994 views im sure he's a millionaire
9:30 At this point, Mario has reached Wario's level of greed
6:37 I wanna watch this one more time
There were only three before this new one. If you wanna complain about there being too many categories, do it in the comments on some Super Metroid TAS instead.
9:26
ここの上のブロック群に10連コインありませんでしたっけ
16:01 The music is 4 Times as fast?
I've seen some hack where the timer is tricked to never end and the sound is going faster over and over every time it reaches the 99s
Haahhahahahahaha
@@mauriciopravia6525 i once saw a Super Mario World glitch showcase that involved Yoshi eating those apple things(?) That cuases the time to go up by ten seconds i think, but they'd only do that every time the timer was below 100 but above 90 and the music just kept speeding up to ridiculous speeds.
you missed a multi-coin block at the start of 4-2
above the three gumbas at start
Maximun coins! I dint knew this category! I love it!
You did this, so we won't have to!
Now we need a DK "All Bananas" speedrun, as opposed to "All Collectables".
You know, its kinda wierd how I cant reply to anyone in this comment section.
+- TheRActivator -
I can't too
But i can reply to you
Actually, you can! I'm doing it, so you can as well!
Weird*
I remember the old times, when you can't do this :')
So 1431 coins total.
Actually, I went to TASVideos and read the video notes, doing the warp zone loop a couple extra times is exactly what happened.
I know for a fact that you missed a multi coin block hidden in the bricks in 4-2 before the vine as well as the hidden coin block under the vine block.
That would waste a cycle in the warpzone
Getting that block would result in less coins, because the TAS bot needs to keep a certain framerule so it can use the pipe to warp instead of the vine
@@dissonantharmonic TAS isn't a bot, it's a speedrun that is created rather than performed
@@charlieharrison I understand how its created, but I refer to it as a bot because you can download it and replay the same run over and over
hopefully mario reports his earnings here to IRS with honesty unlike that criminal yoshi
awesome run
2-2 is a masterpiece!
Extremely talented
Michał Użytkownik I’m sorry, I don’t know.
Apparently this is actually footage from badabuns channel. One of their guys did it while eating 2 pizzas and drinking 4 bottles of coke
Yea I know
This isn't a Mario TAS.
This is Wario cosplaying as Mario.
4:20 WTF is that hitbox?
Pretty sure crouching under water breaks the game
I never knew you could jump past the ax in 1-4 after killing Bowser and not make the bridge fall. I thought it was an automatic hit when you jumped above it. Might be a TAS only trick unless it’s a frame perfect jump that is just difficult for a human to perform or having to press multiple buttons/directions at the same time. Cool to see that though.
If you kill Bowser with a fireball the bridge doesn't fall I think
I just did the axe thing on a casual play... I got surprised and here I'm.
You have to have Fire Flower Mario, and hold B (and maybe Jump also) when you exit a Pipe. He will slide for a little bit while you hold the B button down
This was really cool. Aren't there some coins hidden above you at 9:26 though? Maybe I'm remembering wrong...
Nobody is talking about how the TAS fireballs to the beat in 7-1. Not to mention the Bullet bill launch and jump.
Total coins collected: 1431
Send this video to the man who says "I don't like to play it fast! I just like to collect all the coins." ........

Fun fact: he collected 1431 coins.
Remember when this was like a guide for playing *Super Mario 35* ? Good times…
In the level 4-2 on the "hallway" or what's that called. In the 5th of the last block, there's actually a secret coin block there. I discovered it long time ago when I was still a kid. (Sorry for bad English)
It's too slow, I believe. Pretty sure if you hit that block, it wouldn't allow for the extra Warpzone loop because of the timer. Giving you less coins as a result.
Your English is better than most bilingual people I know
i like the part where mario collects a coin
Can't you get the coins again if you die?
this is maximum coins without dying. deaths aren't allowed because then you could just get infinite coins.
I've got a question, maybe someone can help. levels with cheep cheeps are rng when it comes to their pawning right? So how do you do a TAS of those levels? Must be some kind of manip right?
Courses "how to earn a fortune in 30 minutes" be like:
This is a really cool idea and some parts were really funny lol.
I'm wondering why the two blocks at 9:26 were skipped?
So he could save time to do the warp glitch continually. He beat the level with 000 seconds remaining.
@@BrandyBrandalia I think you're saying that by flying straight to the pipe, he can maximize the number of times he can run through the warp section?
And it really takes off towards the end xD The music plays so fast, the timer goes down and Mario goes into overdrive xD So fuckin funny this.
Pretty sure this guy playing is our mighty Badabun

two words of Unreal Tournament: UNSTOPPABLE and MONSTERKILL
Wait The lives counter is only on intermission loading screen? Why?
Why does bowser turn into a blooper at (17:25)?
All bowsers on levels 1-7 are fake ones and transform into different foes when killed
Is it sure any bug was found
12:21 I didn’t even think you could get crowns in your life count in this game.
how did you do the sliding on 1 foot thing
It's not necessarily a trick or glitch. It doesn't do anything different, regarding Mario's normal actions. I've seen it happen in human runs too. I think it should just be considered a minor temporary animation bug that eventually corrects itself, and does not affect game play.
I don't suppose maximum bricks is viable
Why not run infinitely through 8-4? Why do you have to keep taking the pipe?
Because it keeps looping and you never go anywhere. The only way to progress in that level is to take the pipes in a specific order
Right, but in the context of farming coins: couldn't they keep running and hitting the hidden block again and again? Why go through the pipe every three loops?
When the rimer runs out, Mario dies
Right. That explains why the loop has to end _eventually,_ but not why they alternate between running forwards and taking the wrongwarp.
Guys, should I upgrade to GTX1080ti to play this game? And what graphics settings do you recommend for a smooth experience?
I think you'll need something higher to get a decent framerate
