I love when formerly regional exclusive titles are made available on services like NSO. It's basically like getting a new retro game! As for a serious Nintendo should follow-up with a sequel, I'm gonna go with a game that recently showed up on Japan's NSO: Marvelous: Another Treasure Island. With Zelda likely entrenched in the open world style for at least another decade (i.e. two more games), a new Marvelous would be a perfect opportunity to bring back the structure pioneered by Ocarina of Time, but of course with multiple playable characters and a fun light-hearted story
I was really surprised to see Super R-Type make it to the Nintendo Switch Online SNES library. The game really is as brutally difficult as people say: partly because of the infamous slowdown.

That Wrecking Crew Sequel, think I remember checking it out on Emulators, at least the game play looks familiar, and not liking it as much as the original. As for the question, hmmmm, not sure. All the ones I can think of that I could think of are already franchises. Maybe a Wrecking Crew closer to the original game with modern graphics and different stages, that might be fun.
Super R-Type is kinda funny to release when they have the original arcade releases of R-Type 1 and 2 as a bundle on sale on the Switch e-shop... but apparently there's some new additions and stages on this version, so it's not a total bust. And as with the Hebereke games, they might have released these as "advertisement" more than anything. There's actually a new Hebereke game out now so they might've thought it was a good idea to spread some free awareness. Same with IREM- they give the Super game out, maybe advertize their more polished games you can buy for money, everyone wins? Who knows. As for returning Nintendo title, I'll be basic and pick Star Fox. I just love those spaceblasting fuzz-balls too much to let them languish like this.
That makes 70 SNES games on North American and European NSO. 65 titles released originally plus 5 SFC Japanese exclusive games. There were 722 SNES games published in North America. 65 is about 9% of them.
I kind of want to see what Nintendo could do with StarTropics on Switch, but I'm pretty sure Nintendo just looks at the first two games as their weird experiment to try and appeal to Americans.
I would love to archive the Famitsu scores and reviews. The problem I run into is that I also want to be able to read and analyze the reason why they are giving the scores, which is hard when you don't speak the language. It's a flaw with the Nintendo Switch Online Review Crew, I will admit that much. However, I do feel like there's still value in putting those Japanese games in context for American gamers who may have never played or heard of them, even if it doesn't involve review scores.

8 out of 10 is a solid average? Major slowdown. Stunning, fantastic, huge. A sight to see. So the mind f*ck that is trying to guess the true score for a Nintendo game isn't such a recent thing. Without a number I would have guessed it was about a 6 because of all the complimentary words which aren't at all descriptive competing with the only information available, which is that it has slowdown. I watched this game played all the way through like 1 day ago funnily enough. It was like watching paint dry so I went to sleep. I've seen it before. It's not like all these games are freely available to play and then write anything you want online about it. Easily the best shooter on the market? I'm not being bias or anything. It slows down one moment then speeds up the next. It's so slow and plodding. Alot of the graphics are nice. The music is ok. But it's annoying and so far away from being enjoyable without a _good_ bit of leeway. If you played this to death in your youth you will enjoy the familiar infuriation.
It's worth remembering that Electronic Gaming Monthly's scale had 5 as the average, so an 8 out of 10 was definitely a strong score for them in 1991. It's worth mentioning that when we counted down Electronic Gaming Monthly's Top 16-Bit Shoot 'Em Ups, Super R-Type ended up coming in at number 11.

@@DefunctGames Honestly. I played the game about 5 seconds ago. It feels like I'm being insulted. What is this? It's well below par for a mainline release. Everything is bad. Every element. So what if it managed to get some good pixel art over. Because overall it's butt ugly. Sound is weak. The delay is like 15ms! It's playable. But I'm going to hate play it. I just shot every enemy without wasting any bullets and I was hardly paying attention. There's a few choice moments that are bs that could be considered hard. If you die on the boss you have another 10 minutes of the same utterly dull gameplay to contend with again and keep enough lives. Bad difficulty. Bad bad bad. I'm giving this game a 5 because it's so dumb it goes full circle to being ironic. So a 6. "Spectacular".

The slowdown helps a whole lot. If the game runs smoothly, boy juat be prepared to buy more controllers
