Aaron reviews the Apple iPhone 4S, the evolutionary upgrade from the iPhone 4 that debuted sixteen months ago. While the design is virtually identical to its predecessor, there are quite a few improvements in the 4S like a dual-core Apple A5 (800 MHz) processor, 8-megapixel camera with 1080p HD video recording, global roaming capabilities thanks to a SIM card slot in all models, and Apple's iOS 5 out of the box. It retains the same 3.5-inch Retina display and metal/glass aesthetic. It's available at AT&T, Sprint, and Verizon starting at $199.99 with contract.
It's a nice revision and packs some awesome features, but the mobile market has shifted dramatically over the past sixteen months, and Android is closing the gap. Is the 4S enough to lure new customers and keep existing iOS users on the platform? We'll find out. Part 1 of 2.

No matter how many devices HTC, LG, Samsung, or any of those companies come out with, they will never be able to stay even with the single iPhone.
I bought this phone. Upgrading from a Droid X. Looking forward to a consistent experience. Just tired of having to tweek and figure out what is wrong with my phone. More power to ppl who love doing that though.

Getting this on Thursday (possibly). I ordered it off of Amazon but the shipper still hasn't brought it to the post office! I was supposed to get it today. Sigh, at least I'm getting it. Hope it's worth it.
@PreApproved1 I used to think the same, so I got rid of my iPhone to have an Android phone. However, at the end of the day, it all goes back to the core features, usability and stability. You can do some fancy stuffs with an Android phone but how many people will spend most of their time looking for new ROMs, installing new cool things.... The majority of user still need a reliable phone with various good functions, and to be honest no Android phone can do it better than the iPhone.
i use the reminders app on my ipod touch a whole lot. I hook it up to my speaker dock and it kinda acts as an alarm clock now. And it just helps me get all my little things done whereas normally, i would forget or end up doing them too late.
Mine's supposed to come tomorrow or Friday. So excited!
@MrOGsonic well said!!...most android users tend to dismiss iOS just bcuz, without ever giving the iphone a try..i used to be one of those fandroids..gave the 4S a go...and never switching back to android
How's battery life compared between the 2 because my iPhone battery is terrible and that's one reason I might go to the galaxy

Much as I have trash talked the iPhone, I find myself now getting one to replace my Xperia TL, which was a poor choice, and with a year and a half left on a 2 year contract, I find myself in the position to get a brand new 4S for under 50 dollars, and I'm taking it. Sure, smaller screen and no 4G LTE connectivity, but it's a small price to pay for a phone that won't lag like crazy and has 4 times the battery life of the Xperia I have. Time to give Apple its due and actually try the iPhone
cant wait for this, ordered it yesterday after returning my g nexus. After using android, i can now say that iphones are much better.
@Spart4n02 No. You fail. Read the specs again. The higher megapixel is just a bonus, it's the sensor size that matters besides different other things, just look at the pictures taken with it and you'll see exactly what i mean.

Speed would make the most sense because of the a5 1ghz processor vs the iphones 4's a4 1ghz processor, but it could also stand for siri because it is the only major hardware change on the phone.
Hopefully getting this for Christmas

@BrigadaCerdito get the galaxy s II epic touch you wont regret it man trust me the phone is a beast and as for me i wouldnt wanna upgrade to the nexus thats coming to sprint due to lower specs..Ics is hype imo to and its laggy compared to just touch wiz or even the ios5..

I have the 4s over the 5 as well have had many friends get the 5 and returned it many issues with it.

You're absolutely right about Android inconsistent experience, that pisses me off very much actually, especially true with the older models (which in android world is like a year) when put Android 2.3.3 on them it will be lagging everywhere, painful experience.

PLEASE RESPOND: i heard on the news that the ios 5 is eating the battery but they got some software to stop the battery from going down fast. whats the software called?
They don't necessarily need a redesign but the screen has got to be somewhere between 3.7 - 4.0 inch screen.
It could if you want it to but people have come to a decision that the "s" is for speed because of the new processor.
Im thinking about this phone because im moving back to sprint and this is probably the best phone on there...other than maybe the new htc evo but i have the inspire. Needless to say battery life sucks and i dont want that to happen again so i think im going with the sure shot.
I missed Noah, but I was like what the heck he's on techno buffalo. Now I enjoy watching Aaron's reviews and I don't watch Noah's videos anymore, lol.

@BrigadaCerdito Hate to tell you this but you should probably wait for the Iphone 5 or the Galaxy S3. They will both be coming out around summer and the performance will most likely be better, but if your set on getting a phone i would get the Iphone,
Such silly discussion. iPhone 4S and SG2 are both great phone. It is impossible to say which is better because all come down to personal preference. I have both and certainly there is few things indisputable such as the size of screen and GPS for SG2 and polished UI and voice commands to the iPhone. However, most of what has been disputed and its indistinguishable differences such as speed, camera, functionality, etc... I don't get the desire to say my phone is better just buy what you like.
even though this is about 2 years old i still prefer it to the iphone 5, can't wait for mine to turn up :D

@phonedog: Agreed, smoothness is one of the thing that iOS has done way better than Android, that's also why I always wanted an iPhone even though I have a high end Android device (Mytouch 4G)

i just ordered my white iphone 4s 32g to replace my droid3 that melted, yes i did said melted. the sad part is Verizon wont let me get a replacement droid3 phone because this little plastic peace fell off of the back cover of my old droid 3 because it got to hot and the glue came undone, they told me it voided the warranty that i pay for each month.

I would say normal S4 over the iPhone 4s but since you are talking about the mini s4 then you should probably go for the iphone

@december120994 according to leaked specs, it's equal to the GS2. The phone to look out for now is possibly the Droid Razor.

So, it did take ideas from Android, including that text msg in the notifications bar thing. I always hated how msgs would pop up on friends phones
I was gonna get a 4s a couple years ago but since its obsolete I made smart choice and got a 5s

but yes its a very minor upgrade from the iPhone 4. i would get the iPhone 4 from Verizon cause they still offer a 16gb and 32gb model and Verizon is the best
same with sprint.Verizon is actually pretty cheap for what you get. AT&T charges $40/mo to have unlimited text/talk with other AT&T devices, but you only get 450 min for other devices, lol wut? But Verizon is $40/mo for unlimited talk/text to any mobile any service provider. Im glad verizon lowered their rates...
