Gypsy being the one who helps Joel escape is an interesting nod to reality: Gypsy's voice actor, Jim Mallon, was having many arguments with Joel behind the camera, which prompted Joel to voluntarily leave the show.
@@Cheese_steak_ Jim Mallon was the executive producer of the show. He also directed a bunch of the episodes. His voicework as Gypsy was actually the least of his contributions to the show.
All three eras are great, but the Joel years were the best in my opinion. I just love his dry delivery for some reason as well as his paternal relationship with the bots.
Anyone else like how cute Joel, Crow, and Servo are for their outward bound experience as well as their Action Jackson number? I also like how Crow is in military camo and with a combat knife in his hand. XD Bryon
In the new episodes coming soon, (we hope) I suggest Gypsy should turn into an imitation of the HAL 9000 computer. We'll name her ... GYP 3000 and, just like HAL, she'll be running the spaceship and her yellow eye is in every room.
Haha...you read WAY too much into that. Daktari (Swahili for doctor) was a tv show in the 60's about a wildlife veterinary clinic in Africa. The crack about the zebra-skin stool is a reference to the show's zebra-striped land rovers.
you know, I just realized something about Gypsy. If you look closely, she has a wire attached to her lower "jaw" that makes her mouth move. Just now saw it.
@0:32 -- I STILL say that Frank is that half-brother Kal-El never really likes to talk about! He looks so much like their father, Jor-El "Vito" Corleone! Frank arguably pulls off the spitcurl better than Kal-El even if Frank does look like Big Boy!
Joel finally leaving the show was the best thing to ever happen to MST3K. He was holding them back, as evident by the sudden rise in writing quality once they finally got rid of him.
People are entitled to their own opinions obviously, but I personally have the exact opposite view, I never really enjoyed it after Joel left. For me he was the core of the show and everything they have done without him is lacking the secret sauce.

That kind of sucks that Jole had to leave the show because of someone he had hired

@@Cheese_steak_ Jim hired Joel, not the other way around.

Too bad I read this and ruined my fun escape.

This episode is probably the most exposure Gypsy's had the whole series.
You can hear Kevin cry "Ow!" when the stool falls on him.
Gypsy screaming in panic is one of the funniest things to me 😂
Same here.

2:45 Always makes me laugh
I love how Gypsy came to the conclusion that the Mads were targeting Joel 😂
Poor Gypsy's about to have a nervous breakdown
Daktari Stool, Daktari is a zebra pattern, and it's on a doctor's stool. Also, dark, tarry stool is a sign of intestinal issues
A 2001: Space Odyssey reference?
Genius!
EDIT: I can't believe I I was so out of it and typed out "oddity."
And Dr. Strangelove.
@@kdrapertruckerTwo Kubrick references. I guess they couldn’t make up their minds.
Crow's camo paint job is so awesome!
2:46 AAARRRRRGGGHHHH
Gypsy is like Hal 9000 because she can read lips.
They actually spoofed Stanly Kubrick's 2001: a space oddyseyy in this scene.
Joel and Trace’s exits were both based off 2001.

GENIUS!
I'm alone with my heavy burden! ONWEE!
James Faraci What does that even mean?
@@pgj1997 It's actually "ennui".
Gypsy can't let them do that, Dave, er- Forrester.

“I’m alone with my heavy burden… ENNUIIIIIIII!!!”
They can change her name all they want, she’ll always be Gypsy to me.
I Love this show
@enterdoucingwho He was being sarcastic. It's funny because Frank hates Mike, so he's trying to piss Frank off by calling him "his little friend".
Commando Crow was an underused character.
Calling it "A Space Oddity" WOULD be more appropriate.... *lol*
Hey..the evil happy meal invention! Look closely in the box they are rummaging through on 1:32 through 1:43
i will make a double butt graft it is my DESTANY!!

The question is always “but how”
About telling us the story of ow Mike and the Robots go back to Earth?
I could of swore I seen MST3K do Dr Strangelove aka How I Learned to Love the Bomb...

That movie is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too good though
Where the hell is Major Kong?
Two Stanley Kubrick jokes? I guess they couldn’t make up their minds.
We need a gypsy replica!
