Orphan Annie's dog was Sandy. I was thinking that there was a "Zero" in Beetle Bailey, but I just looked it up and it was Private Zero, and the Sergeant had a dog named, Otto. Still not sure what Shep was referring to. 🤷‍♂

I think this is what he was talking about. "For those who don't, Zero was the name of Little Annie Rooney's dog, a comic strip character who sprang to life around the time of the Little Orphan Annie craze"
