One of the reasons I prefer Fibber McGee and Molly to the Jack Benny show is that FMM episodes usually have a through-line plot in which you follow the characters as they seek to accomplish a concrete goal. While Jack and his gang are great comic actors, the plot usually plays second fiddle to a series of gags and insults..
