  • Today I change the timing belt and water pump on my 2001 Audi A4 B5 with the 1.8T (AWT) engine. And as a bonus i will also do an engine flush at the end of the video.
This will probably be the last that you will see of this car on this channel. But If you want to follow some other stuff that I have going on (lawnmowers, all the daily cars, motorcycles, boats stuff e.t.c then please follow my other channel here: / @mekochmedia

Did you use a screwdriver for the filter?

@@BackmansGarage I thought i replied to you the same day, but i guess i didnt. Yes i did use a screwdriver for the filter. I've never seen any other filters utilize that before i got my B5 and bought stock filters.

For future reference if you still have the car, the water pumps on those are known for getting destroyed because of the plastic impeller I suggest getting a metal one for future

Never prefill a filter on the clean side. The new oil container has no guarantee of cleanliness and can have debree big enough to hurt main bearings. If you are paranoid about oil pressure during the few seconds of cranking it takes to fill the filter, filter your oil first.

I realise there are divided opinions about this method, so to each their own. I usually don't pre-fill oil filters, but on this one it was easy enough to try it. Cant say the oil pressure built up noticeable quicker than usual tho.

oil pressure issue is only when the engine was rebuilt, if you put or not oil in it dosent matter when engine had run

I have to do this next week and am wondering if I should remove the radiator completely like you did here? Is the crank pulley difficult to remove?

Yes to the first question and No on the second one 🙂
