Well done Lloyd on kicking the booze for a year..its much harder than people realise due to the fact society revolves around booze..I gave up after 10yrs hard drinking and I couldnt believe the amount of social pressure to drink again..and boredom being a big enemy too..It takes a lot of strength

Phew... this kind of mentalism and method is not my cup of tea, 'cause even if an effect like this flies like a bird with the audience, I never would be confident enough in the method, but that's my problem. BUT... this method/effect is a great lesson in how to make a tool that you don't like in the first place, the pad in this case, work for your own style. Great inspiration for me!
There's no guarantee this would work. You even made a big deal about her knowing the starsign, she had to google it. It's hard to believe she wouldnt have connected the starsign you had her google with you asking her to think of a starsign not 5 miutes later. If it were me, I'd purposely think of a different one. So you may have peeked at her date but she also wanted you to succeed cos she's your wife. She went along with it.

I haven’t watched to the explanation but it’s pretty obvious that he pre-showed her. And of course she’s going to play along, they’re married after all. She’s a stooge plain and simple. There’s no way you could do this as clean as this without either a stooge, or pre show. He said she didn’t write it down, but that only says he didn’t get a peek. So he forced it somehow mechanically before the camera was rolling. Asking her if he forced it is a throw away because any decent force isn’t going to feel like one. So either this is pre show (and a lame use of PS) or more likely she’s a stooge. Gotta be suspicious when it’s not a performance for a stranger but your partner. Foolish to believe she’s not in on it for those likes. So dumb
You say the trick is obvious but then guess three different methods; a stooge, a peak and a force. I wouldn't class this as pre-show, but as using editing to make the trick look cleaner. The tutorial is about how to make the method more difficult for the spectator to backtrack.

But my guess is that he pre showed her with either a force or a peek. Method for that is irrelevant. A giveaway is that any time someone makes a big deal of “we didn’t set anything up before” they did in fact and have magicians guilt about the bad pre ahow

I mean that specifically the method for info gathering in the pre show stage is irrelevant because whether you are using a device such as a Riggs pad, or Millard longmans method you’re still acquiring information unknown to the participant and either should be done well enough that the participant doesn’t believe you could have any method of knowing the info. So at that stage it’s just a point of preference. I consider PS to be the “method” here and you could substitute any info gathering tool or device to accomplish it, so irrelevant in that way. Hope that makes sense
