Penn and Teller have a rule - they only reveal obvious secrets (that have been around for an age, and you can get in any kid's magic kit) or secrets they have invented themselves. They won't reveal other magician's secrets, because that's their livlihood.
So not a fan of how they treated Oz, an incredible professional, pressing him to reveal his secrets and then trying to decode his trick like this. OBVIOUSLY, it's not real magic. There's no such thing and Oz isn't claiming to be a wizard. I felt this was very rude and unprofessional way to treat a seasoned performer. I'm a magician too, and that's how I expect eight-year-olds to act, not adults, and definitely not on television.

The video isn't important. You notice he never said in the video that there was 325 gumballs in it. He just said that she was off by 2. So if we take your number 5 and he would just write 3 on the paper inside the envelope and the video would still be right.

You can see Oz write the number 327 when he stood behind the host. If you look closely you can see him writing it. So the video would always be right because the only number that mattered was the one that he wrote down...

There's the guy who climbs on the chair to take down the envelope. He switches that envelope with one in which he has a paper in which he wrote the answers as he heard them from the audience. Note that the video does not linger on him taking down the envelope but cuts to where she is taking out the piece of paper.
How one makes the hidden drawing doublication trick? Like Uri Geller did. With a pre drawn picture he definitely couldn't see? Any video related to that on yt? Haven't found an exact reproduction.

It's just shameful how she was questioning about how she thought the tricks were done. She made the interviews all about her and not the fact that Oz has been working his entire life to learn these skills. After a show we magicians want to hear we have entertained the audience. Not have someone try to expose us and embarrass us on TV.

She said that he traced it on the carbon transfer paper while covered right before he revealed the number on stage, although he said that wasn't the exact trick but it was something like that. If she guessed 400, he would've wrote down 402. The prerecorded video would stay the same no matter what.
This would be a great report if they didnt include the part where she reveals how a magic trick is done as if she's like reporting on fraud or something. How unintelligent. And way to ruin the fun.

Back when the "Masked Magician" was showing us a lot of big stage stunts - most of which were pretty guess-able if you thought about them - I kept wishing he'd show things like this! B-(
FYI the masked magician didn’t expose as many secrets as you’d think. He showed some possibilities on how some effects could be done, but nothing performed by major acts. I guarantee if you went to see David Copperfield, none of what he showed would help.

Penn and Teller often show how some classic magic tricks work. The best example is their rendition of the cups and balls trick, which they perform with transparent plastic cups. Their idea behind that is that you sometimes can appreciate the dexterity, perfect sleight of hand and trickery involved more than the actual illusion. But they do that sparingly and they don't want to destroy people's livelihoods.
I am the greatest doubting Thomas ever. But I love to be entertained by magic tricks. And I hate the spoil sports that give the secrets away. It's like killing an actor. Show over.
