For the record, I have this exact tent and on Sunday, July 23nd CST, my son, daughter and I slept in this model tent through a severe rain and thunderstorm in Texas. The storm came from a Northern direction traveling South over Lake Cooper in Cooper Texas and included torrential rains and 65mph winds. (see my Instagram post @CharlesPero). We survived the storm with zero leaks. This was our first usage of the tent and we never weather sealed the tent from the factory. We staked both the tent and rainfly per the directions and it worked like a charm. Great product....!!!Charles Pero Lavon, TX
I was looking at this tent at Wal-mart today. I was on the fence about it till your video. Thank you for helping me make my decision. I do believe it will be the best $179.00 I will spend.
I've had this tent for a couple of years now. I will say you won't be disappointed. My husband and I went camping quite a few times in the rain with this tent and no water got in the tent at all. Also it holds up nicely when it's windy. I love this tent. Very spacious too.
Ya I was wondering about that. Yeah when I set up my tent I will do as you say here. I just started camping most of it is in the Florida because I live here & of course it rains a lot.
BigCountryChannel: I just came across your review. Looks like a nice tent. Have a general suggestion for you as far as your ground cover goes. Try making it smaller than your tent floor. Two reasons: 1. Puddles that collect on your ground cover outside your tent can attract mosquitos. 2. Water that collects on your ground cover can make its way under your tent. Usually it's not a problem but if you have a hole in your floor you don't know about the water will come in through the floor.
Thank you so much for your review video. I was unsure if the above tent was a good buy for my family, your video was able to clarify all of my doubts abut the tent, I will purchase the Ozark tent for my family. Thanks again.
My eight man ozark did a great job in the rain and nice and roomy for two. I also used water seal which I highly recommend to all who purcahse any kind of tent.
Thanks going to get one today. it either this one or the 10 man family. But it's cost 99$ and I would rather spend the extra $$ for the waterproof factory and not trying to spend 30min to set up. it looks really nice thanks for the info.
My favorite lake I just bought the newest version of this tent can't wait to try it out I like popular point campground c or e if you can get a spot on the lake lol
It might help to put slits in your tarp so as to not allow the rain water to puddle between tent floor and tarp. By doing this water won't seep into your tent.
Big country, I have a question. When u bought the tent at Walmart does it come the way the pic shows it? Cause I saw reviews with pics and it looked different, also in the official video, please answer
wow big country, me and my family are from east Texas. and myself, my cousin, and a couple of friends are planing to headed to Conroe, Beaumont, and Galveston, Katy, and surrounding areas.. for Harvey clean up jobs.. and we have to be mobile at all costs. we've heard about fema relocation camps but we've decided we can work in the city and then camp out at camp ground near those areas.. also crystal beach in Galveston is about 45 MIN DRIVE to Houston and other cities affected.. do you have a video of East set up, for the tent we just want to be able to pack up asap if needed . looks really nice oh and what is the price and where can I buy one.?
Any of the instant tents are worth their price. Easy to set up and take down by one person. Putting a tarp underneath is a bad idea though as it collects rain water and will push the water under your tent. Bare ground is best for this tent. I would recommend spraying the tent when you set it up, with rain repellent so it keeps the outside nice and water tight. Overall, I love mine and it's worth the money.
Hi I was wondering if the tent was staked down through the tarp? it seems tarp is bigger than the bottom of the tent and i was wondering how it was staked down. Thank you.
Can it be used in winter snow and cold weather and heavy winds ? can it be possible to use a wood burner inside if i cut a hole for the smoke pipe someplace ?
BigCountryChannel Thanks for replying to my question. I'm going to try setting up in my backyard with my grandsons this weekend. I'll reply with the results and suggestions if any.
Not a good idea to put a tarp under your tent, it will trap water under your tent, you need something that will allow water to pass through it e.g shade cloth.
Yeah but you can't say it doesn't leak when you added something to it to make sure it doesn't leak. It like putting an antivirus suite on your Mac and saying your mac can't get a virus. Or saying you don't get sick but consistently obtaining immune system booster shots. Its just not an accurate statement. thankful for the review but just not an accurate statement. You want to know if something leaks naturally or not.

Dude fold your ground sheet tarp up under your tent, so when it rains the water doesn’t hit the tarp travel and pool under your tent.

Exactly !! The way its right now would be the best way to get an indoor pool !

A camping hack I use is putting the extra tarp between ceiling and the rain fly. Works well. Good video!

Nice review. I have a Coleman 6 person instant tent that I take to Jordan Lake but getting a larger tent is always in the back of mind.
My favorite lake I just bought the newest version of this tent can't wait to try it out I like popular point campground c or e if you can get a spot on the lake lol
Great time to be out camping by the lake for sure! I hope the tent works as good for you as it has for me through out the years.
Nice review, I'm shopping for a tent and this helps me. Thanks!
Thanks for the review. What size tarp did you use to lay under your tent?

i have a question...think we will be able to squeeze an actual queen mattress in this tent? not an air mattress and actual one?

Thanks! Have you been overall happy with your tent still? We just purchased the smaller model of this!
would love to know the names and possibly where to purchase these tents

Tuck the excess tarp under the floor of the tent or buy a tarp that is slightly smaller than the floor size of the tent.
So did you use a seam sealer or a waterproofing spray ?
Can I ask why you put another tarp on top? Was the rainfly not enough?
Hi I was wondering if the tent was staked down through the tarp? it seems tarp is bigger than the bottom of the tent and i was wondering how it was staked down. Thank you.
***** awesome. Thanks for the explanation. I plan on using similar setup for the tent and your video has been very helpful
Does it keep cold air in with your portable ac
Can it be used in winter snow and cold weather and heavy winds ? can it be possible to use a wood burner inside if i cut a hole for the smoke pipe someplace ?

That seems to be the answer to these tents. They just need to be sprayed.
These ozark tents are prty nice specially for the price
Tarp underneath should be smaller than the tent.
I just bought this tent and it's pretty nice. But there is no way it's 10 feet wide.
Did you use a measuring tape to confirm?

+Crazy prayingmantis Actually, you want to use a tarp, just one that has smaller size than your tent body.
if you sprayed then you can't say it wont leak....
