One of the best songs!
Man, the verse, bridge and chorus has said it for a while. I lost my son over 5 years ago and this song and “Carry Me Down” really hit home. I have always believed in God but have not been a believer. After my son passed I collapsed on my kitchen floor and accepted Jesus as my Lord and Savior. This song sticks in my mind.

Thank you, I completely agree. I am not a Christian, but this is one of my favorite bands. I don't care at all about their religious standpoint, to dislike a band for something so trivial is just idiotic if you ask me. People should be passionate about something, and we have no right to choose what others choose to pursue. We are all human when it comes down to it, simple little differences shouldn't create such huge gaps.
In my opinion, being a Christian, their are so many Christians that annoy the crap out of me. They think because it is rock or metal, it could not possibly be a Christian band. They seem to think that only Classical or hymnal music is appropriate. Screw that. When I listen to non-Christian bands, I do not let it control or dictate that which I choose in my life. Same with this music. It does not control my actions or choices. It tells a story. The singer tells the story, and the listeners listen. That is all. And obviously, since everything happens for a reason, they all learned their instruments for a reason. Who are we to judge the gifts God gave them?

Love this song. Basically says what we wonder: can I be saved for my sins? Later in the song, it explains that we cry and cry unto God and God says that if you want salvation, repent against your sins before the devil will use them against you, salvation is entirely possible. All it takes is faith to God and forgive those who hurt you.

Definitely one of my favorite Metal bands! It's awesome to see a band that doesn't care nor bows down to the belief that Christian music should only be contemporary or worship. These guys are appealing to those of us who hate and i mean HATE contemporary/worship music. I'm sorry, im a believer but i cannot rock out to worship music. It's physically impossible. Before any of you die hard believers go judging me (which might i point out, is a sin), try to see it from my point of view. If this was a worship song and I came on here telling you that the type of music you listened to sucks because it isn't hard enough for me, would you like it? No, you wouldn't and i'm not going to let anyone bash on this music. I will defend my fellow believers and yes, even the non-believers (because they are fellow metalheads) from prejudiced and opinionated fools who have nothing better to do than to bash on certain genre's of music. Go ahead, say metal is Satanic. I can assure you that EVERYONE on here will shut you down faster than you can blink. I listen to all metal. Be it Devil Driver, Demon Hunter or what have you. Us believers and Non-believers may not agree about religion, but there is one thing we do agree on and that is simply awesome, teeth grinding, ear-splitting Heavy Metal.

I hate to say it but the fact that so many people who are Christians not only fight against unbelievers but also fight against their own brethren. It's sickening but we are human we are not holy like the living God. We will sin no matter what we do were attached to it and we cannot shake it off, but Jesus can remove our sin when we give our lives to him we are wiped clean. We have no place to judge others, there is only one true judge and that is Jesus Christ.
Samuel Walker John 7:24 "judge not on external with external judgment, but judge on the internal with righteous judgement" Matthew 7 does not tell us not to judge at all it tells us how to judge. when you are judging you are to judge out of love. and Jesus isnt our judge God is Jesus is our intercessor. for we are also our brothers keeper and if we do not judge each other by our fruits how will we ever be able to be our brothers keeper. you are mixing judgement with condemnation.

Same! I just started listening to the band because of their new upcoming album Outlive, and it made me realize for a long time now, it doesn't matter what the music is about. Music is art and that's what's important. It differs from imaginary to reality. Slayer, for example, as they're known to be a so-called satanic band, I've read that the lead singer and bassist does believe in Christianity. He just sings and/or writes about evilness and similar stuff because that's just music. People need to appreciate music instead of bashing about a band or a song's subject.

@@jackson2308 well at the beginning, the guitar and drums creates a vibe I get in a lot of anime openings I've heard. And the song starts off slow then builds up, and eventually into screaming vocals and that gives me the feeling of like a anime protagonist rising up from the shadows idk.

k...I've been DH fan since 2003, and this whole, " I'm an atheist and I love DH, I didn't know they were Christian." Makes me really believe that it doesn't fucking matter what your belief is and also that no one cares... They made their lyrics to honestly ride the fence. They keep their distortion on high and kill it with each song. As much as they are openly christian, they're doing something right.
That is, they don't shove dogma down anyone's throat in their songs through gospel or dogma. It's achievable nowadays for a religious band to be well known if they don't spread their gospels. So honestly. No one cares if you've been a christian, or not, or that you're an atheist, that doesn't want to be victimized by their preferences in music because they want their two cents. Well my two cents is:
1. New band? fucking google it
2. Didn't know they were Christian? fucking google it
3. Atheist but love DH? fucking google their lyrics
Most of you don't even know what religious or faith you fall in if you already lost your faiths...
So you're an Atheist? A Jew? A Christian? A Muslim? A Hindu? A Sikh? Doesn't matter.
