If you change the oil filter, you have to start the car so that the new oil filter is primed. Otherwise, you're going to be about a half quart low. So yes, the fact that the car is on ramps skews the dip stick reading a little, but the biggest reason is the new oil filter not being primed by starting the car after the oil change.
I always fill the oil filter with oil. Takes about 3 pours to the top as it absorbs into the filter. Put the filter in no issues with priming. Trick I learned years ago.
Made matters worse by not removing that pan. You should also fill the oil filter half way before putting it on. The manual tells you how many quarts. You can go just below that . Start the car and roll it off. Shut it down, wait a minute or two then check it again. Car must be level to get an accurate reading.
Doing a oil change right is making sure the right oil is used and filled to the correct level with no leaks. The specific process doesn't matter plus you learn more from failing so your welcome now you don't have to make the same mistake. But welcome to working on cars.
Thank you for the information, just changed my wife's oil,👍👍
Thanks for the positive comment Fredrick!
Why not remove the shield before draining?
I didn't know the filter was under it or else I would of. If I can save some work I will.

Yes sir driving the car off the ramps gets us a accurate reading of oil level. For both reasons the car being level and filling the filter.

Doesn’t the oil have have to be manufactured by honda? Or does it not matter?
Ohh no.. quality brand like castrol, mobile one are equal or better quality.
Bro it doesn't matter 😂😂 just have to be the right viscosity, Accord takes 5w-30
@@Interstellar987this car takes OW 20
Thank you sr
Thank for the comment Thelma!
you put in 5 QTs for the 2.0 L engine?
I always start with 4 quarts then check level.. if good then start it and recheck and fill as needed.
I use Red Line engine oil. The best!
Can I use mobile synthetic oil
Yes! Moble 1 is a good brand. The brand of oil is not important but the weight is.
@@mimiarreola188 OK Can I use 5w30 because the weather in my country 100-120°F in the sumer?
@@dwdhb9905 no. These new engines have very close tolerances.
Mobil 1 is the best for this car. Mine has 342,956 miles so far
Make sure you use 0w 20
Pull up emergency brake, put scoth under back tire, change out crush washer
