    “our fiber deficiency is causing us to suffer consequences because our gut microbes are not being fed.” [24:56]
    “...the microbiome changes in less than 24 hours, whatever dietary choice you make. So literally, the food that you're eating today will have an effect on your microbiome tomorrow.” [37:04]
    “If you are suffering from trauma, and abuse history, whether it was physical, sexual, emotional, psychological. If you don't directly address that issue, you will not heal your microbiome. The stress that is driven by that underlying trauma history is an open wound that persists, and it festers until it is addressed.” [41:30]

      Tom, I have a question for you.... don't you go nuts after interviewing all those different "ideology" doctors contradicting themselves? Keto, vegan, paleo, plant-based, carnivore, eat 6 meals a day diet, intermittent fasting ... all stating different studies... cherry-picking all their stuff?! Who to believe? At the end of the day, we do what's best for us for our lifestyle and preferences.

The specifics is where you should experiment to discover what you need to feel your best.

      Tom, love the work you do but maybe a little piece of constructive criticism, it’s really hard to buy one of your sponsors-like thryve when it’s even said here that there is no way to know if those test are accurate @ 26 mins in, you may have a little money to throw away on those test that may or may not be accurate but I’m pinching pennies trying to get out of college debt, pay off the mortgage, get a vehicle that won’t break down and maybe I can use to have some fun outdoors on the weekends

      On another note-hopefully less annoying than my last shitty opinion above. I wonder what Dr B would think about epsom salt baths-often called sensory deprivation tank- which have so many other benefits than just sensory deprivation-soaking in magnesium sulfate & allowing the body to take in as much as it needs through the largest organ in the body for digestion, sleep, depression & so many other benefits. I’ve heard medicine can be absorbed through skin. Please tell me if you believe/heard otherwise. Interesting research about the reaction from the skin to the environment triggers some of those epigenetics that are talked about here, the skin organ is so powerful. We have an extremely smart organ controlling internal functions based on the external environment. Just another wonderful thing we don’t give enough credit to in my stupid opinion

      Dorjee- Are you practicing Wim Hoff's protocol now, specifically 'cold exposure' ?
      How is that going, if you don't mind my asking...or are you following only the breathing practices?
      Watching Wim Hoff in an interview, he comes across as a nut job, IMO.
      But I'm hearing/reading more & more that cold exposure, specifically, is very good for our mitochondria & for longevity.
      I re-watched a David Sinclair interview ( I greatly respect SInclair's science-based knowledge on increasing longevity) - I just watched his interview on IT, again - and am more convinced than ever that Cold Exposure is the way to go.
      Problem IS, I completely crumble at the thought of a damn cold shower, though.
      I'm drrawn to the idea bc I feel it is NECESSARY for good health & longevity, but totally REPELLED by the thought of an effen 🥶 cold shower!

    Disappointed that the issue of animal protein - especially increasing quality protein as we age for muscle maintenance- never came up! I am against vegan now, as WAS one for 6 years. Ended up Insidiously over time losing muscle mass but not really noticing until I DID...and oh, sh*t I'm headed for sarcopenia. And I DO exervise...big exercise buff - but still...skinny fat. So, was WOKE - - about increasing my Quality (think animal protein), from a Dr. Gabrielle Lyon interview right here on IT.
    Immediately felt better, still feel great 8 mos. later now. I LOOK better, have more energy, no longer 'skinny fat'. I live veggies, and still do eat alit of veggies, and also fruits.
    So, now with THIS interview, I'm just SO confused, but also very disappointed that the subject of increasing 'quality' protein as we age (40 Y O & up), that part did not come up at all. Btw, I am of tge belief that it's impossible to get the amount of quality 'complete' protein we need, for our muscles, as we age with veggies, fruits and grains, legumes.

    • @gabrieltorres5732
      @gabrieltorres5732 3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      I am confused as well, I just changed to a Carnivore diet but I get some fiber from nuts. I But there are days that I don’t consume any nuts and I don’t have any gut problems, in fact there is evidence showing that meat heals. He does mention Omega 3’s but you really have to eat a lot of nuts to get some while eating a lil bit of sardines is way superior for Brain growth.
      Though I believe in the Microbiome I feel that all plant based diet can only go so far until you realize that you need more protein.
      Like you said when you get older you need more protein and animal meats and their organs hold the nutrients we need. I’m 40 years old and I feel like I’m in my 20’s again when going all animal products for nutrition.

    • @adamj2683
      @adamj2683 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      So because YOU didn't eat enough protein and YOU didn't do enough weight training, you decided that paying people to enslave and slit the throats of sentient beings so you could eat their corpses was the solution?
      If someone is eating a lesser quality vitamin that doesn't absorb as well as other forms, they just need a larger quantity of it. If someone is doing an exercise routine that isn't as efficient at working out their muscles, they just need a larger quantity of it. If someone only has lesser quality shirts and it's pretty cold out, they can put more of them on.
      Just eat more plant protein. If your body needs 100gram of protein eat 120gram plant protein. And do weight training. Problem solved.

      They can be easily spotted bc they generally have a limited capacity to write very well, and they usually use phrasing they've borrowed from other radicalized diet culture war crazies, in a desperate attempt at pseudo-intelligence.
      Yes, I am an animal murderer, who can't seem to get my workout sessions right, or even have the sense to layer my clothing in the cold...(THAT'S a creative accusation...haven't heard THAT one before🤣) ...how about wearing a down jacket in the cold?...but donning layers of shirts to stay warm? HA! And WHO has 'lost the plot' here when it comes to cold protection? 🤣 oh, boy, this one's a doozy!
      Yep...because I happen to disagree with this crazed NUT-JOB's radicalized vegan theory, I am an incompetent, murdering fool🤣
      It never ceases to amaze me the sorry crap these losers come up with in the comment's section, but it's actually pretty entertaining😂
      And, just to LYK,...No, I do not have an 'underlying condition' compelling me to eat omnivore, rather than vegan. My only underlying condition is the intelligence to know what works for me.
      As for Adam J, I believe he does have an underlying condition.... It's called 'stupidity'...but then I digress.
      Thanks for defending me, though Stefan...I'm waiting for the other shoe to drop - I'm sure you will be called a few choice names, and/or sustain who-knows-what weirdo accusations...but I'm sure it will be pretty entertaining if Adam does decide to answer your comment 😀

      Hi. I was a low-carb diet for four years! Three years paleo-based eating then a year on a keto diet. I lost a lot of weight and was convinced low-carb was the answer. However, I study sustainability at school and decided I needed to go plant-based for environmental reasons- but was terrified of the effect it would have on my body. I read Dr. Bs book “fiber fueled” then made the switch. I started eating whole grains, legumes, and added more fruit and holyyyyy. I was surprised that my blood sugar levels were fine. I now I have way more energy, better bowels, and I lost weight! I highly recommend his book if you are thinking ab introducing more food to increase your gut flora :)

      Drs Berry, Saladino, Cywes, Baker, and other Carnivore doctors mean well, but they are misguided. A Carnivore diet is very extreme, and so is Frutarian by the way. They are doomed to fail eventually. Best to stay with a broader nutrient base that feeds your microbiota. Most dietary population studies show that the healthiest cultures are ones with the most diverse gut biota, not people who eat just one food, which is silly and dangerous.
