If VBAN streams aren't being detected on the stream PC, 99% of the time, Windows Firewall is blocking the streams. Whitelist Voicemeeter in the settings ( you need to be logged into Windows as admin).

I have an issue with my setup right now, Pun. Hoping to get a word with you at some point. Basically, I had to redo the whole thing.. And it works.. But when I click 'errors' in VBAN, they show yellow numbers... that slowly go up.. And eventually go red and the audio distorts. Not sure what's causing it.. I was able to set everything up and it is all working now, but how do I set it to where the alerts can be heard to the viewers? In this current video, you explain that it will be default playback and we can hear it on our game pc but the alerts are not being broadcast with audio to the viewers. How would I do that? Do I need to have a input device selected for Alerts in Voicemeeter or a specific bus enabled? The only bus enabled is A1 which is for ourselves to hear when an alert is activated, but what about to broadcast it in SLOBS to viewers during streaming? @The Frugal Streamer
I had the same issue, he misses that part on the video. I used a digital cable just as he explained in the video but passing Discord through it. My problem is the audio from discord mess up frequently and I don't know how to fix it rather than hitting refresh audio
Do i need to buy the extra virtual audio cables? Bc after following ur guide i had everything working except i couldnt hear discord on my game pc. But it was being picked up on the stream pc just fine

So everything was working perfectly except for the streamlab alerts. When I set everything up as followed in the video, there was no signal in OBS when I tested my alert notifications. Voice meter was able to pick up the signal in the video but OBS couldn’t pick up the audio when I was test streaming it. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
When I get onto my 2nd PC (Streaming PC) after I have typed in my iP and turned on VBAN is shows that there are no incoming streams and I cant right click on the first part :/ Anything I can do?

I use the capture card for recording as you, and send it over to my headset on A1 so i have both checked on, but there are a wierd sound delay. can you tell me what is wrong here? :P
If you're having trouble getting the two pcs to connect in VBAN, your solution might be to access your routers configuration and manually set a static IP for your PC 1 and PC 2. Theres a way to set the static IP through the control panel, but that way did not work for me, only caused headaches, through the Router worked like a charm.
I think I watched 12-15 tutorials about Dual PC Setups regarding audio. You are the first one who actually visualize the process (13:43) - most of the other guys just verbally tell what they are doing (just plug in this cable in Line-In of your game pc and then ...). A well constructed dual pc setup is complicated. And you are doing it right. Thanks for your work.
Hey Frugal, thanks for the nice video. I just cant seem to get the game sound working through my razer ripsaw capture card. Have set it up in nvidia and everything as you say in the video but i cant get sound in on the streaming pc. Everything else seems to work.

WDM is MUCH better than MME, btw. If you have an audio interface, go into settings and set your channels under ASIO, bypassing all software interaction eliminating latency. General rule: ASIO > WDM > MME

For people with USB MIC TRYING TO USE THIS GUIDE. You MUST disconnect your headphones from the mic. instead it should be connected directly to your PC, or your pc speakers auxiliar input.
It's a great tutorial if you have the appropriate video card & can send Game PC audio over HDMI, however if you need an alternative solution for sending game audio to your stream PC, it falls VERY short of explaining what needs to be done. I too have struggled a lot with this sort of setup. I believe I have configured correctly, but my game PC desktop audio only appears to be willing to work when going to VAIO, neither AUX or VAIO3 works even though it "should be" a matter of changing from B1 to B2/B3 in VBAN and toggles. So I think there's a bug...but where is anyone's guess and I'm honestly not interesting in trying to track it down and am researching hardware solutions.
Hey again - sorry still running into issue. Everything is 99% done, but for some reason I get a choppy audio signal on my stream. It is fine on my headphones, just the stream is choppy (vod below). I've set everything (window sounds and OBS) to 48K. I use NDI OBS to send over the sound and game/desktop audio. I use the Voicemeeter to compress my game sound, but also to transfer sounds via VBAN (alerts, comms, mic). I Googled and some recommended to switch from 24 bit to 16 bit, which i tried and still the same issue. Any suggestions? I will try switching everything to 16 bit and 24 bit @ 44.1K, but didn't think that was the issue. www.twitch.tv/videos/404810778
For whatever reason - I am not able to get audio from my capture card. I’ve gone back over the video twice now, & it seems I’ve done everything correctly. I get audio from my stream alerts - and my mic is broadcasting correctly... I’m using a Razer Ripsaw HD, and made sure the digital audio was set to HDMI as well... I’m not sure if it’s a SLOBS issue - or a Capture Card issue. Any ideas??
Great tutorial, I get to understand a lot of things about audio and Voicemeeter Banana. Thanx alot. I question though: If I send the gameplay sound directly from my gaming pc from Voicemeeter VAIO to A2 (elgato) it appears in my streaming pc as Desktopp audio in Voicemeeter VAIO channel (windows sound). But this channel is the same that reproduces alerts. Therefore, when I send alerts channel back from the Streaming pc to the Gaming pc I get my gameplay again together with alerts (hearing my gameplay with eco). How do I separate Alerts sound from the gameplaysound that reproduces in the streaming pc?

He wants to add voice changing to his streams (like VoiceMod) but he wants to use it in-game and on stream with one hotkey, how would he go about this? Everything else I would like to keep open on my streaming PC, Mic, OBS, Discord, and Spotify. How would I set that up? if that's too many inputs for streaming PC I'll use the Voicemeter Potatoe. Best guide for this on the Internet currently. Liked and subbed. Only issue that remains is I cannot get Streamlabs OBS on my streaming PC to pick up my Discord audio, so my viewers cannot hear anyone I'm talking to on Discord. I'm not sure if something is missing, but when I set up my alerts now EVERYTHING from my stream PC comes through that channel. I was setting up music and when I decided to hit play to make windows see it in the sound mixer it immediately came through to my gaming PC with nothing set. No matter what I did I cannot get music to separately come into my gaming PC from the stream PC which means I can't independently control the volume of each. I've tried this with Banana, Potato, I don't know what's going on anymore. I don't think you're intentionally leaving things out, but I think there's a good amount not said in both of your videos that is very much needed. I think the only way to do this properly is to stream it live setting up everything from scratch. Then we can see every single second of what you're doing without edits. Again I know it's not intentional, but I bet there's some things edited out that would be quite useful for those of us who can't just put it all together as we go.....like me. I need every single minute detail or it just won't click. God didn't grace me with a good understanding of most things. Other than that I loved both videos. Until I can get a few things figured out I won't be able to stream, but I've been trying to figure all this out for months as it is so another month won't kill me.

Okay I cant even get past the first step on VBANing my mic from gaming PC to streaming PC. MY streaming PC's VBAN does not detect my gaming PC at all. Yes I typed in case sensitive names and my IP is correct. It does show that from my Gaming PC to Streaming PC show that little green light so im confused. help please.
My setup, using your step by step instructions, is still going strong. Ido have a question. How would I limit incoming discord volume, to my headphones, but record normally, if another discord user has to raise his/her voice? That way everyone else won't lose their eardrums.
why a channel for discord and music, how do you get all desktop sound to go? edit: I see, discord is just what you're calling windows sounds in general. Your videos are really in depth and love how you label what screen you're viewing because its easy to misspeak gaming/streaming PC which is infinitely confusing on our end.
hello, i did all what you did and its work but i feel that something missing (cannt control everythings from pc stream) i dual Pc Stream and 3 monitors 2 for gaming pc and one for the stream pc I have elgato hd60pro pci installed in the stream pc and hyperx solocast mic linked with Gaming pc im using voicemeeter banana and Light Host the issue is that the second monitor for the gaming pc is vertical and voicemeeter potato will not fit well Im using streamlabs and discord and TeamSpeak and Spotify What i want is control all sounds from the pc stream using voicemeeter potato

The music some how is being sent across to my gaming PC through the alerts, which is fine I guess cause it works. Just curious why cable B doesnt come up for output options but does for input. Any ideas?

do you use the banana setup with NDI tools as well? I'm having issues with all the audio going just fine to my stream PC...they can hear everything they need on the stream. However, I can't hear the game myself. If I plug my headset into my game PC to listen to the game...the stream viewers no longer hear anything. Do I really need OBS on the game PC with SLOBS on the stream PC? I was really hoping to not have to have that on my gaming pc....

Everything is working perfectly. The only thing is that When I am trying to listen to desktop audio, there is a echo in my headset. And when I disabled or mute anything in voicemeeter it will stop the alerts on the stream... Could you possibly help? The entire video is amazing btw!
I'm having problems with the vban. I set everything up the same way you did, I followed it step by step. Both my voicemeeters say that they have streams incoming detected, but they don't actually get any audio. Does anybody know why this is happening and how I can fix it?
My issue is trying to get each piece of audio into SLOBS. Do I have to do them all on a single input or can I separate them? I have one VAC for so music it's separated but Discord and my Mic are both on Aux Output . Also the Elgato Audio only added stays gray as though there is no audio passing.
Getting double sound on everything on gaming pc as far as game goes . Alerts sound normal . But game play is double loop unless I turn off a2 then it doesn’t pick up on stream . If I use a2 then my audio is off if I mute a1 in my game for gun shots and everything . So basically just trying to see what I can do to get the game from double playing everything in my headset or speakers

I dont know where I went wrong, followed every step verbatim and now not only does it not work I have zero sound coming to my headphones and I have no idea how to fix it. This has been the most painful process for my entire set up!
So it all worked clean and all, but all in a sudden my voicemeeter is not connecting anymore via VBAN my mic does not work anymore plus all the audio of my stream pc is lost. can anyone help me ?
you did not explain how you connect any of these things to the voice banana . you explain as if they were already connected and you're explaining how they work and what they are running through.
Great tutorial, didn't need to get the VB-cable A+B though, this setup can be done by installing the same free version of the cable on both PCs. Just to clarify in case anybody is reading, But if you can, absolutely go drop them five euros because it's a great piece of software and they deserve the money.

I have solved the mystery. Step 1 - Stream PC: Turn on B1 (In addition to whatever you have turned on, mine is A3 & B1.) Step 2 - In OBS: Add Input Capture >> Device: VoiceMeeter Output (VB-Audio VoiceMeeter VAIO)

I am having a problem where sometimes half way through my streams my game sound will go out and I didn't touch anything. I also was using sound capture with voice meeter. So I tried not using sound capture and just use voice meeter but now I am not getting any game sound to go to my streams and recordings

@@tw0fac3tv26 You have to buy and download those cables. Your game audio is getting looped back through to the A1 somehow.

If you don't see the green indicator light, you have to allow the app through your firewall. I ran into this trying to send the OBS Alerts.

Check to make sure your bitrates match and that they are at least 44.1Khz

When you add the source in OBS, as long as it is set to output in advanced audio properties, they will.

So everything was working perfectly except for the streamlab alerts. When I set everything up as followed in the video, there was no signal in OBS when I tested my alert notifications. Voice meter was able to pick up the signal in the video but OBS couldn’t pick up the audio when I was test streaming it. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
Where you able to fix this? nvm I was able to fix this by changing the default playback device

When I get onto my 2nd PC (Streaming PC) after I have typed in my iP and turned on VBAN is shows that there are no incoming streams and I cant right click on the first part :/ Anything I can do?

I use the capture card for recording as you, and send it over to my headset on A1 so i have both checked on, but there are a wierd sound delay. can you tell me what is wrong here? :P
If you're having trouble getting the two pcs to connect in VBAN, your solution might be to access your routers configuration and manually set a static IP for your PC 1 and PC 2. Theres a way to set the static IP through the control panel, but that way did not work for me, only caused headaches, through the Router worked like a charm.

I think I watched 12-15 tutorials about Dual PC Setups regarding audio. You are the first one who actually visualize the process (13:43) - most of the other guys just verbally tell what they are doing (just plug in this cable in Line-In of your game pc and then ...).

I just cant seem to get the game sound working through my razer ripsaw capture card. Have set it up in nvidia and everything as you say in the video but i cant get sound in on the streaming pc. Everything else seems to work.
I see your videos occasionally passing by on TH-cam. Quite frankly, I was not even subscribed. Changed that today! Can I just point out how much respect I have for you taking the -insane- amount of effort to deliver a professional presentation as clearly as you do for people? WDM is MUCH better than MME, btw. If you have an audio interface, go into settings and set your channels under ASIO, bypassing all software interaction eliminating latency. General rule: ASIO > WDM > MME

For people with USB MIC TRYING TO USE THIS GUIDE. You MUST disconnect your headphones from the mic. instead it should be connected directly to your PC, or your pc speakers auxiliar input.
It's a great tutorial if you have the appropriate video card & can send Game PC audio over HDMI, however if you need an alternative solution for sending game audio to your stream PC, it falls VERY short of explaining what needs to be done.
I too have struggled a lot with this sort of setup.
I believe I have configured correctly, but my game PC desktop audio only appears to be willing to work when going to VAIO, neither AUX or VAIO3 works even though it "should be" a matter of changing from B1 to B2/B3 in VBAN and toggles.
So I think there's a bug...but where is anyone's guess and I'm honestly not interesting in trying to track it down and am researching hardware solutions.
Hey again - sorry still running into issue. Everything is 99% done, but for some reason I get a choppy audio signal on my stream. It is fine on my headphones, just the stream is choppy (vod below). I've set everything (window sounds and OBS) to 48K. I use NDI OBS to send over the sound and game/desktop audio. I use the Voicemeeter to compress my game sound, but also to transfer sounds via VBAN (alerts, comms, mic).
I Googled and some recommended to switch from 24 bit to 16 bit, which i tried and still the same issue.
Any suggestions?
I will try switching everything to 16 bit and 24 bit @ 44.1K, but didn't think that was the issue.

For whatever reason - I am not able to get audio from my capture card. I’ve gone back over the video twice now, & it seems I’ve done everything correctly. I get audio from my stream alerts - and my mic is broadcasting correctly... I’m using a Razer Ripsaw HD, and made sure the digital audio was set to HDMI as well... I’m not sure if it’s a SLOBS issue - or a Capture Card issue. Any ideas??
Great tutorial, I get to understand a lot of things about audio and Voicemeeter Banana. Thanx alot. I question though: If I send the gameplay sound directly from my gaming pc from Voicemeeter VAIO to A2 (elgato) it appears in my streaming pc as Desktopp audio in Voicemeeter VAIO channel (windows sound). But this channel is the same that reproduces alerts. Therefore, when I send alerts channel back from the Streaming pc to the Gaming pc I get my gameplay again together with alerts (hearing my gameplay with eco). How do I separate Alerts sound from the gameplaysound that reproduces in the streaming pc?

So my friend has a NDI setup on streamlabs, with his XLR/Mixer mic to his streaming PC and a DSLR cam on streaming pc. He wants to add voice changing to his streams (like VoiceMod) but he wants to use it in-game and on stream with one hotkey, how would he go about this? We tried voicemeeter (Vban from gaming pc to streaming pc) but it became a nightmare on stream with cutting out, distorted, and delayed issues

I would appreciate it if you could help me out here with my setup I have a headset going in to my gaming PC. Everything else I would like to keep open on my streaming PC, Mic, OBS, Discord, and Spotify. How would I set that up? if that's too many inputs for streaming PC I'll use the Voicemeter Potatoe. I just want to do it correctly, and also set it up in OBS so it will work nicely. Is that even possible to have it this way?

Only issue that remains is I cannot get Streamlabs OBS on my streaming PC to pick up my Discord audio, so my viewers cannot hear anyone I'm talking to on Discord. It has to be something so simple, but I cannot figure it out for the life of me :(
I'm not sure if something is missing, but when I set up my alerts now EVERYTHING from my stream PC comes through that channel. I was setting up music and when I decided to hit play to make windows see it in the sound mixer it immediately came through to my gaming PC with nothing set. No matter what I did I cannot get music to separately come into my gaming PC from the stream PC which means I can't independently control the volume of each. I've tried this with Banana, Potato, I don't know what's going on anymore. I don't think you're intentionally leaving things out, but I think there's a good amount not said in both of your videos that is very much needed. I think the only way to do this properly is to stream it live setting up everything from scratch. Then we can see every single second of what you're doing without edits. Again I know it's not intentional, but I bet there's some things edited out that would be quite useful for those of us who can't just put it all together as we go.....like me. I need every single minute detail or it just won't click. God didn't grace me with a good understanding of most things. Other than that I loved both videos. Until I can get a few things figured out I won't be able to stream, but I've been trying to figure all this out for months as it is so another month won't kill me.

Okay I cant even get past the first step on VBANing my mic from gaming PC to streaming PC. MY streaming PC's VBAN does not detect my gaming PC at all. Yes I typed in case sensitive names and my IP is correct. It does show that from my Gaming PC to Streaming PC show that little green light so im confused. help please.
My setup, using your step by step instructions, is still going strong. Ido have a question. How would I limit incoming discord volume, to my headphones, but record normally, if another discord user has to raise his/her voice? That way everyone else won't lose their eardrums.
why a channel for discord and music, how do you get all desktop sound to go?
edit: I see, discord is just what you're calling windows sounds in general. Your videos are really in depth and love how you label what screen you're viewing because its easy to misspeak gaming/streaming PC which is infinitely confusing on our end.

i dual Pc Stream and 3 monitors 2 for gaming pc and one for the stream pc I have elgato hd60pro pci installed in the stream pc and hyperx solocast mic linked with Gaming pc
im using voicemeeter banana and Light Host
the issue is that the second monitor for the gaming pc is vertical and voicemeeter potato will not fit well

The music some how is being sent across to my gaming PC through the alerts, which is fine I guess cause it works. Just curious why cable B doesnt come up for output options but does for input. Any ideas?
I've followed everything and still can't get it working. For whatever reason, something is causing my mic and sound to be captured in #3 when I only want my alerts captured. Any help is welcome

do you use the banana setup with NDI tools as well? I'm having issues with all the audio going just fine to my stream PC...they can hear everything they need on the stream. However, I can't hear the game myself. If I plug my headset into my game PC to listen to the game...the stream viewers no longer hear anything. Do I really need OBS on the game PC with SLOBS on the stream PC? I was really hoping to not have to have that on my gaming pc....
Thanks for taking the time to create this type of video. Everything is working perfect but discord is not going into Streamlabs OBS. VBAN is working as expected and I can see the discord audio coming as well on the streaming pc.

Any update on this? I have yet to get my Discord working for the obs output. I scanned the video several times, but he doesn't show that portion.
Everything is working perfectly. The only thing is that When I am trying to listen to desktop audio, there is a echo in my headset. And when I disabled or mute anything in voicemeeter it will stop the alerts on the stream... Could you possibly help? The entire video is amazing btw!

I'm having problems with the vban. I set everything up the same way you did, I followed it step by step. Both my voicemeeters say that they have streams incoming detected, but they don't actually get any audio. Does anybody know why this is happening and how I can fix it?
My issue is trying to get each piece of audio into SLOBS. Do I have to do them all on a single input or can I separate them? I have one VAC for so music it's separated but Discord and my Mic are both on Aux Output . Also the Elgato Audio only added stays gray as though there is no audio passing.

Getting double sound on everything on gaming pc as far as game goes . Alerts sound normal . But game play is double loop unless I turn off a2 then it doesn’t pick up on stream . If I use a2 then my audio is off if I mute a1 in my game for gun shots and everything . So basically just trying to see what I can do to get the game from double playing everything in my headset or speakers

You saved me hours of searching and its by far the best and most comprehensive guide out there.Well done. My only question is that if i want to use my game pc for gaming without streaming at the same time do i have to change the input and output channels back to normal (my soundblaster card and usb mic ) from audio properties? Or i only have to run the voicemeter application?

Great tutorial, didn't need to get the VB-cable A+B though, this setup can be done by installing the same free version of the cable on both PCs. Just to clarify in case anybody is reading, But if you can, absolutely go drop them five euros because it's a great piece of software and they deserve the money.

I have solved the mystery.
Step 1 - Stream PC: Turn on B1 (In addition to whatever you have turned on, mine is A3 & B1.)
Step 2 - In OBS: Add Input Capture >> Device: VoiceMeeter Output (VB-Audio VoiceMeeter VAIO)

I am having a problem where sometimes half way through my streams my game sound will go out and I didn't touch anything. I also was using sound capture with voice meeter. So I tried not using sound capture and just use voice meeter but now I am not getting any game sound to go to my streams and recordings
