They're finally putting out the lost Kaladesh Commander precon.
Silverquill Lecturer might be fun with the new Kambal
Interesting to note: Aurora shifter *does stay as the copy* . It doesn't have the "until end of turn clause".
Brudiclad is in the deck because you can copy a a creature with Satya's ability, and then Brudiclad can then make all of your other tokens into a copy of that creature token. It's a bit awkward with Satya being an attack trigger, after Brudiclad has already triggered for the turn, but it gives more value to paying the energy to have the token Satya creates stick around
It's exactly the clunky triggers lining up why I don't like it.
@@tomerabramovici32 Makes sense, yeah. It's definitely an early cut from the deck, especially because it does absolutely nothing with energy
I'm looking to smash this and the fallout deck together - looking at artifacts + energy - if anyone comes up with a sick deck with either of the fallout commanders i'd love to see it!
Just do it.. I ve mixt fallout n horrizon almost only n its powerfull just that! Have fun have infinite combat phase n infinite turn lol :) ... Easy to combot now with energie
Silverquill Lecturer coul be sneakily good because you produce second copies of your energy creatures that get better with more energy. meanwhile gifting an opponent an energy creature will likely not do much for them. For example the very next card Aurora Shifter does nothing if you don't already have produced energy. So you're giving an opponent a vanilla 1/3 blocker while you get a second Aurora Shifter, who is basically a clone for 2 mana instad of 4 that can produce ridiculous amounts of energy, if it connects. Your opponents Aurora Shifter is really just a 1/3 because they have to attack and not get blocked TWICE to gather enough energy to then be able on the THIRD attack to turn their version into something better. That's nearly impossible or just too slow.
Not to mention, you can politic with it by using it on a remuval creature or helping SB catch up to help with fighting arch enemy.
Cayth will really work only if you have Decoction Module and Izzet Generatorium, at which point each creature entering the battlefield gives you at least ee. I wouldn't keep the Lecturer in the deck, especially when I can use Consulate Surveillance, which essentially becomes "cirlce of protection from damage" as long as you can generate a ton of energy, just remember to keep up some protection against enchantment destruction or bounce effects. Don't forget the single best all-star in a Jeskai Energy deck--Whirler Virtuoso. The Conversion Apparatus should always be "t: add urw" because energy is a lot easier to gain than people think. Brudiclad, Combustible Gearhulk, and Myr Battlesphere--no, just take those out and put better options in like Paharmonicon. I plan on reworking this to go all-in on energy.
Just playtested this deck a bit on Moxfield. Tbh. I guess I got some lucky draws, but found out, that its not too hard to get infinite combats with your Commander + Lightning Runner and some other ETB energy creature. Does not necessarly mean that you win, if they have good blocks, but definitely a strong line of play for a precon.
Cayth is my dream artificer tribal commander and I'm so excited to play it.
That said, Cayth is a terrible commander for the precon, but makes perfect sense as the back up for the face commander who, you know, makes tokens which Cayth can populate.
IMO the best way to build Satya will be to ignore Energy entirely. Thing of him more as a "Blink"-commander. Slam in tons of creatures with great ETBs, a token-doubler, and some "can't be blocked" equipment, and just attack your way to value town. If you wanna keep your tokens, that's what Sundial of the Infinite is for.
ProTip no matter how you build him: Silent Arbiter. Makes Satya unblockable (because Menace), and your token lets you cheat the "only one attacker" effect.
I am so pleased that I preordered both of the energy decks for much less money. Since no one wanted them, they decreased heavily in price before they were even released.
Can we stop getting the temples in expensiveprecons
Seriously. This is supposed to be a premium product and they keep putting snarls in it.
I wouldn't care about the temples and snarls as much if they were willing to include some better lands.
I know they won't do this but I think every commander deck should include 1 shock, 1 fetch, 1 battle land, 1 triome (if possible), 1 good mdfc, and 1 good ability land like Coffers, Nykthos, Academy Ruins, etc.
I don't expect a fully optimized land base but they should include elements to help build towards them. Lands are such a barrier to people's creativity in building decks.
And people might think that is wishful thinking but they put shocks in their brawl precons so we know they can. They just don't want to.
I don't get how deck whose commander creates tokens and generates energy getting a backup commander that copies tokens and proliferates energy is in any way confusing or disappointing. Backup commanders in these decks are usually designed to work with the commander but also be a starting off point for a different type of deck, aren't they?
Yea, seems to play into the commander just fine, not sure the disconnect.
Yes and no. Backup commanders are also there to swap out to play as another commander for the deck itself. And most usually function well in this way nowadays. This is sooo much more subpar than the face commander that you can't really ever run it instead of the main one.
Some people want energy to be the energy payoff not tie back into standard mtg mechanics. Energy into tokens…but I can already build a token deck etc.etc. It was the same with dungeons…ppl wanted the dungeons themselves to be the wincons not tie back to regular mtg mechanics like reanimate with sefris.
@imanujakku that's me I want an energy deck that's unlike the other I have
I think he kind of missed the populate synergy, proliferate is a pretty weak way to generate energy for sure though.
Flickering almost any energy creature is way more efficient
there is an infinite combo out of the box😂 glad i pre ordered this one
6:15 I get that you are upset he is not an energy commander but apart from that he is a really good and versatile commander. You can go blink since fabricate is an etb ability, Tokens, counters or artifact creature or creature copies since you have blue and red. Not to mention he is jeskai which traditionally only gets non-creature matters decks so he is a new territory for the colour trio.
Print the battlebond lands already.
Silverquill Lecturer in play, cast Phage the Untouchable with demonstrate from hand. Opponent must resolve their copy first and their copy, while cast, was not cast from hand. One problem is that you will lose right after they do when your copy resolves if another opponent is alive. So more limited than other Phage combos. But only two colors and doesn't need the graveyard.
im excited as i have been very carfully working on the Madison Li deck so more tech will be cool
I also would have liked to see an automated assembly line even thought we probably wont get fallout reprints on magic cards for a while if ever
I’m beyond excited for this deck!
I'm happy I pre-ordered this one!
Good boy! Consume product, be excited for next product, don't ask questions.
Overclocked Electromancer is gonna go really well in Neyith - an 8/4 for 3 mana? Bring it on!
Anyone else notice Tomer had a simic creature as an example of a creature to add in this Jeskai deck? I know you have to get creative when building budget commander decks but breaking the rules seems extreme. But hey if you want to add Empyreal Voyager hopefully Seth Richard and Crim wont notice.
I still wish this was temur energy...BUUUT, nothing stopping me from making 4 color energy!
Can you make a kinda budget group hug deck using Kynaios and Tiro of Meletis
Is this looking like a better energy deck than the Fallout precon? I feel like that one may have leaned a bit more fully into energy, but I don't quite remember (and without playing them it's difficult for me to tell for sure).
The good old Suncleanser card is going to be highly sought to counter the soon-to-be ubiquity of Energy. Surprised it didn't change with Rads/Energy after Fallout tbh
Demonstrate makes some sense for all the Energy generating ETBs. Boost yourself and give an opponent a creature that is mid if they're not also playing Energy. Definitely not a power card in the deck, and I wouldn't be surprised if it ends up in the cut pile, but I can see *why* it's there.
I'm still deciding if I want to buy this deck and then mix n match with the fallout precon
Yo anyone else ignoring the energy part of sataya and just building the face guy like jeskai jaxis?
That's what I have been thinking about. You don't even need energy for Satya's ability to be pretty fun. Copying and sacrificing different creatures can be really powerful.
If the game is going to give you the colors and mechanics to make an exponentially expanding army of Dovehawks... Why not
Yeah, if I wanna keep your tokens I'll pay energy OCCASIONALLY, but mainly just activate Sundial of the Infinite on my end step with the sac triggers on the stack.
I've been racking my brain for a good commander to get green and red energy going together. I guess that's the downside of a minimally supported mechanic. Can't really find anything thematic that would fit outside of like fancy mana dorks or generic 'value' commanders
making token copies of burnished hart then sacrificing the token for the ramp seems... fairly solid
I'm guessing that's the idea with legion loyalty too, get all those etb energy bumps
I guess the whole bruticlad sidequest is just paying the energy to keep a really good satya token then using bruticlad and the fabricate stuff to mass produce copies? Considering the commander ability bruticlad is probably good enough but i'd probably drop the fabricate guys for some thopter stuff
I plan to use Cayth mixed with ETB energy creators and blinking to create a wide board and lots of energy and then use energy payoffs like lightning runner or scurry of gremlins to try and win. Probably not very good but that's the plan. I do hate the look of both commanders. I like Cayth but I do get wanting another energy commander.
So what I'm hearing is 'Murica Deck?
I would have preferred a Temur deck. Would have made it more distinct from the fallout deck and allows the use of some of the classic cards form the Standard Energy deck like Longtusk Cub and Bristling Hydra
I’m going to to be I like doctor lii as the commander more but I think getting both deck and smashing them together will be a great start for an engine deck
This deck seems pretty nice
But i agree some cards while good in the deck could be more energy focused because the energy cards we have are still quite limited
Just for more diversity
I think i will build breya energy 😄
Ehhh, did they worded Satya wrong? It says: The mana value of the token. But tokens have 0 mana value! So you have to pay 0Mana, for the token to stick around!? Am I getting something wrong?
Token copies of other creatures have the same mana value. So if you copy a 5 cost creature, the token has 5 mana value.
Creatures and spells that just makes tokens like a 4/4 angel or something, those are still mana value zero.
Basically if you make a token copy of a card on the battle field that has a mana value, the token also has that mana value
@@taylorjohnson3777 Oh, I didn't know that! Thank you for the indepth explanation!
No problem. I was in the same boat as you until someone pointed this out to me sometime last year I think
Localozed Destruction is really good in Bess..sure, she'll probably die, but your 1/1s will all be safe! And yes, you need to build Bess herself up again, but if the choice is "lose all your creatures (with a normal wipe) vs lose only Bess", the latter is preferable every time!
3:31 Empyreal Voyager in Jeskai how?
It was the background on the preview as well. Seems like a big mistake to make
What's with the green cards?
Over clock electro guy plus that one that gives+x x=energy means you have X+4x2 for ark assuming you only have 2 energy that Is still now a 8/8 if it works the way I think it does o.o
Cayth probably has to be the coolest KCI commander ever
Very confused on the assessment of the mana rock? It says 3 mana to make 3 energy, but Tomer kept saying 4. Was it just a misread?
He’s including the tap cost of the rock. When talking about mana rocks (or lands) with an alternate tap ability that doesn’t make mana, using that ability prevents you from tapping it for mana. So 3 mana to activate +1 for being unable to tap your rock.
But if you weren't planning to tap it for mana, how is that equation necessary? Not critiquing, just confused
well if you've already cast it, not using the ability means having an extra mana at all times. ergo if you use the ability that means having one mana less available. the consideration is basically: what if I had a different mana rock in its place
I suppose that could be answered by saying that if you had a different mana rock, you wouldn't have the energy ability. It seems like a sillybilly equation.
@@Jidayun exactly, you wouldn't have the energy ability but you'd have one more mana instead. the mana that is taken up by the ability is the three mana you have to pay as well as the one mana you would have available otherwise. so if you weren't using that ability you could cast something for four mana instead.
tho tbh I agree that presenting it that way with mana rocks is a bit silly. it makes way more sense with lands considering the limit on them.
For me this was the least exciting of the bunch. Looking forward to the jund one!
"you don't have to run artifacts" but robots 😭😭
I want Silverquill Lecturer as my commander lol
In Cayth's defense Satya really isn't an energy Commander either. Satya feels like a: clone creatures for value until you take infinite combat steps commander. I think running energy producers and payoffs makes Satya weaker than running some kind of Jeskai aggro deck. Dr. Madison Li is the only one that actually feels like an Energy commander.
Man, was expecting some spicier new cards
They should have made the sphinx legendary and made her the secondary or tertiary commander
I mean, Dr Madison li is the only energy commander that makes sense with the a real energy deck. She has strong payoffs, and easy energy generation. Idk why she’s hated on
This guy is very cute
@@LittleMushroomGuy very observant of you. (tomer is actually gay by the way)
Caithy infect sounds good
14:39 If Aurora Shifter is on the field with Salvation Colossus and it shifts into the Colossus, it’ll generate 11 energy instead of 9. Don’t forget the +2/+2 and indestructible trigger on attack.
Cayth is good for the planeswalkers
The member photos in this chat are spicy 🔥.
As usual the deck i am interested in is gonna be spoiled last 😅
Am I the only one who notices you can't run empyral voyager in this deck😂
Just sad they did two energy decks back to back in the exact same colours. Black and green has some fun energy cards to….
I like they are working on making energy a thing, but this is just another pile of cards that have/do things with energy and looks to win with combat. I mean if thats what your wanting to do, just play gruul. Its another miss, I really hope they design another energy deck with some funky theme at last.
Good reprint value
i am just zero interested in the energy theme
Uh, dude. I think you need to get some more sleep. Cayth os actually good. She helps you make token, proliferating not only the +1/+1 countwrs from fabricate, but all proliferating all those energy counters.
She is not disappointing, she actually works well in tandem with the face commander or as the head of the deck.
So much card that don't synergize at all😢
They need some very good cards to keep the price and make it fair compare to the others.
Energy cards, except some of them that are good in many decks (the new Drake, for example), are underwhelming outside energy decks.
Goldspan Dragon and Facebreaker are there cause money and for being good cards.
The Simic deck has Uro, Yavimaya, Vesuva and the freaking Devastator. How can you keep up with that with just energy cards?
I knew about devastator but not the rest. That ain't half bad for reprints.@@Controlqueen31
@@Controlqueen31 putting generally good reprint and focusing the new card only around the energy theme
Premium product, has 20 basic lands, okay, that makes a lot of sense. Specially considering that the Precons for the Doctor Who set had better mana bases and where quite a bit cheaper.
Really dunno what Wizards is thinking. I mean, there are some solid reprints, but why is the mana base always so bad? :/
I think that was mainly because of Gavin Verhey. Dude is a massive Dr Who fan and pushed for the decks to have better mana bases.
Very unlike you Tomer, it seems you did not take enough time to analyze why certain cards are in the deck. Besides often just saying „this card creates energy“ - although its main draw is the energy payoff (like extra combats), you did not hit the mark as good as other times with your evaluation.
For example: Maybe some people are tired of seeing Myr Battlesphere, but it’s obviously quite good with the commander.
Also Legions Landing? What does it have to do with tokens? It’s in the deck because of the ETB and combat damage triggers, almost all of our creatures have. ;)
Myr Battlesphere is quite bad with our commander because the clone enters tapped and attacking, so you don't get the attack trigger. You need to wait an entire turn to attack again.
@@tomerabramovici32 but you get the 4 Myrs which you get to keep even if you don’t pay the energy. Maybe not the best, but not as bad I think.
If this was the magnun opus for the Fallout energy deck then they missed the mark, wait they missed the whole target, where is the synergy?, where is the payoff of get this deck and the next one will make it good? nothing here makes the fallout energy deck better, what a waste.
Izzet genita…….
42 seconds
Tomer says its pay 4 mana for 3 energy and then says its only 3 energy to make 3 mana. My guy do you count the artifact taping for mana as a cost of 1 mana or not. Because a mana and 3 energy to make 3 mana is also meh.
And i dislike the argument that any card that has a mana ability and any other ability at the same time means that the true cost is increased.
what's with all the overweight old women characters?
The back up commander is so fkn ugly
Wow another shitty manabase in a premium precon
U woukd be suprised how broken a 2 mana sink populate is lmao
Making guant copy token's is ez same with justbgiantbidiot tokens i general
I don't know why you don't do this with the group. I want to hear everyone's opinions on all the cards. I hate the way you guys do your favorite cards from sets now. I miss when you did each player picks a bunch of cars from each color. It was better because now only talking about like five cards in an hour and a half sucks as a group
Silverquill Lecturer is actually underrated for Energy decks. A lot of cheap creatures have ETB gain 1 or 2 Energy. If all of a sudden you're doubling up those ETB triggers and getting 4 Energy and 2 bodies, you don't really care that you're giving an opponent one. I don't necessarily think it'll be an All-Star in the deck, but I think it'll be a card you'll hesitate to cut after you see it in action a few times.
It's a good alternative if you can't keep Satya on the field and keep the populate subtheme
