    I had a unilateral pars defect at L5 , it was repaired using Pedical screw, rod, and hook technique. Putting the fracture under compression with allograft and BMP's. 100% healed and recovered.
    nice video!

      That is a classic repair technique, patients do very well. I am glad you had an excellent outcome. Thank you for reaching out and sharing 👍

      @@SpineSurgeonSpeaks I really think the minimally invasive approach using the bucks technique with fluoroscopy would have been a faster recovery as far as muscle disruption but i will take what i can get. Thank you for the reply!!

    I was apparently born with mine and diagnosed at 25. I have anterolisthesis which has caused lordosis and a lot of spurring.
    I'm 41 and cane bound. I can barely walk and need assistance with long distances (a tenth of a mile is a long distance for me.)
    I also have large patches of "numb spots" on my left thigh. It's weird. I can feel touch on the area, but I stabbed the area with a pin and it didn't hurt.
    Nobody has recommended spine surgery. They did recommend physical therapy but I can't find one in the area that will take my insurance, so I haven't done it. I don't think it'll work tho. I fear ill soon be in a wheelchair. I dont want that.

    will pars fracture heal normaly without operation (spondylolysis)

      A pars fracture will not heal by itself. There are surgical techniques which will repair/bone-graft the L5 pars-fracture, and also fusion procedures which will stabilize the L5 and S1 vertebrae.

      I would recommend an in-person consultation with a spine surgeon. There are many nuances to this condition that need to be considered when it comes to choosing treatment. Good luck!

    Pars fracture can be repaired or not? In grade 1 spondylolisthesis

    • @SpineSurgeonSpeaks
      @SpineSurgeonSpeaks  10 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      Most adults with a pars-fracture (grade-I) end up with a L5-S1 laminectomy-fusion.
      In teenagers/ adolescents/ younger patients there are some in-situ pars-fracture repair techniques which are used sometimes, but for adults the surgical treatment is a laminectomy-fusion.

      Most will need a fusion, but you can ask your surgeon about the options that may be right for you. Good luck Sir 👍
