I just filmed my first video about this exact topic yesterday. Timing is insane. Reminds me of something Rick Ruben said about some ideas needing to get out, no matter the vessel. Video will be up Monday on my channel if anyone is interested :)
Hey, Zosia, how’s it going? Have you read this poem called The Guest House by Rumi? About hardship, challenges, whatever you name it: “A joy, a depression, a meanness, some momentary awareness comes as an unexpected visitor. Welcome and entertain them all! Even if they are a crown of sorrows who violently sweep your house empty of its furniture, still, treat each guest honorably. He may be clearing you out for some new delight.” Anyway, really what I wanted to say was thanks for this, I really enjoyed all the things you said in this video, particularly what you said about becoming grateful for the challenges and how being alive right now is a blessing. The things we take for granted, hey? Hearing, seeing, being able to walk or even just stand up on our own. I truly enjoyed this video now, today more than ever in fact. I recently started depending completely on my start-up (I’m also going to business school) and when you no longer have a “steady” income such as one from a normal job, you begin to encounter a lot of different types of stress lol And unfortunately, I had a massive anxiety attack in school last week that completely knocked me to my bum. The kinda anxiety attack that urges you to run away, hide, and quite honestly cry. It was so bad I spent the whole next day feeling physically and mentally exhausted. But I knew I HAD to see the challenge as something I needed to walk through, as something that would give me some life experience points or whatever, something that would also help me grow as an entrepreneur. The only way out is through. Side not, though I’ve had anxiety since I was much younger for other reasons, it had been over 2 years since I had an anxiety attack at all (big or small). So I forced myself to sit down and go over what triggered it, and sincerely recognize and accept that the stress that caused it is in fact somewhat normal, or at least, to be expected (you know, the lack of financial stability because of a start-up, paying for a crazy expensive private school, one’s own bills, etc). I prayed a lot, which brought me relief and calm. And I talked to my family; it’s so important, crucial, to recognize the people that are on your side, rooting for you (whether it’s family, friends) and most importantly to be so grateful for them (talk about being grateful, hey?), because they can truly make all the difference. And when you make gratitude a part of your daily thought process, you know, just start with grateful thoughts, you quickly realize how you don’t have 10 things to be grateful for but more like 100+ and that is such a beautiful thing to be able to recognize in one’s own life.
"Beware the barrenness of a busy life."
gratitude is powerful and can shift your mind and emotions. GOD bless
