I can assure you that everything about each little design detail of the Infidel is for purpose and I mean everything. At 4:05 in the video, you mention that you think the pocket clip is a little too big. For example, slide the knife in your pocket. Now slide your thumb into your pocket fully as if you were going to have to use the knife in self defense and draw the knife out. Notice that your thumb is right at the bottom of the activation switch and your index finger is in the dip of the pocket clip. Notice that the saw tooth jimping provided extra grip against your thumb to ensure the knife came out of your pocket without a hitch. Unlike almost all other fully automatic OTFs on the market today, the Infidel is designed to be the ultimate practical concealed quick to deploy self defense OTF. Another simple example. Imagine your hand being covered in something slippery and you were trying to pierce something with the knife. The flared handle end prevents your hand from sliding forward onto the blade. Now imagine the same scenario with a Microtech knife or even a Benchmade Autocrat. Bottom line. If you want a pretty fidget play knife great for opening boxes, letters, cutting string, etc., buy something other that an Infidel. If you want the ultimate bet your life on it self defense knife that spares no practical design aspects, get an Infidel. The U.S. Secret Service standard issue knife is the full size Benchmade Infidel 3300BK with a black activation button. That should speak for itself.
I think microtech combat troodon is better made. Just because government caries it doesn't mean its better it's good advertising for benchmade. If police, military SS carry it it must be great so civilians will buy it. Same thing glock did just great marketing. Benchmade did whatever it took to put that knife in military, SS pocket because the rest would follow. Same thing microtech tries to do with first responder discount.
This is just a money grab, because no one outside the EDC World really GAF about overpriced knife sets. I have an Infidel and I Luv the damned thing, but I don't "have to have" the extra!
