Ngl. After this arc, Sanji overtook the very slight edge that Zoro had over him as my favorite character at the time. He really showed that brqins and brawn isn't the only way to fight and win. You need to plan and think over everything and this arc really highlighted how smart and calculated Sanji as a character was. Not even mentioning other roles such as being "Mr. Prince" in Alabasta and tricking Crocodile.

Sanji really did way more this arc and Jabra was barely weaker than Kaku. Sanji took damage from Kalifa beforehand too. To make it worse Zoro was getting folded by that rust marine lol (i know it was probably just plot so he could get shusui)

This is why Sanji is my favorite character in the whole series. He’s such a dependable guy. No matter who (unless it’s a w woman)Sanji is faced with nothing phases him, he just sparks up a cigarette and handles business. He took on Virgo. He clashed with Doflamingo. He blitzed Charolette Oven so fast he didn’t even detect him. And lastly he just Low-diffed Queen. Sanji’s fight against Queen was more of a mental battles against himself. It was badass when Sanji destroyed his raid suit; he’s so confident in his strength that Nerfed himself just so that he could he the Man Luffy recruited in the Straw Hats. And I love how Sanji will protect his crew at all costs. He’s one of the Wings of the pirate king. Sorry for the essay but I just love the character of Sanji so much, I could talk about all day lol

Sanji was one step ahead of everyone while others were still doubting Robin.

can we not forget that sanji is literally one of the major reasons the strawhats got out of Enies Lobby. If it weren't for him flipping the lever to close the Gates of Justice so many things would have gone wrong. Man is a 4d chess player I swear.
Whenever Sanji is on a solo mission, he always carries.
I feel like after the timeskip, all the clutch moments that Sanji used to have were given to brook. Its nice for brook obviously, but I still miss Sanji pulling off James Bond moves in every arc.
The most clutch move I can think of that Brook had in that type of style was in WCI. So it would make sense that Sanji couldn't have that moment there. And I think Brook was the perfect person to have it instead that time. Though I could be forgetting some other clutch moments like that with Brook, I have hope that Sanji will have more. Here's hoping anyway.

Sanji was my favorite strawhat from Baratie, but Mr. Prince moment from Arabasta, and I needed a light from Skypeia just solidified it. Zoro was my second favorite, but Franky stole that spot in Enies Lobby.
As much as we all love Sanji, you guys have to agree, his portrayal post time-skip is garbage level.
In my opinion, the Water 7 Saga was the best Saga in the story thus far. Everything about it from start to finish was a hype rollercoaster train that didn't stop for one second.

Lowkey we're getting this Sanji back since Whole Cake happened. This Sanji was THE playmaker for the SHP, planning out approaches methodically while also packing insane heat (no pun intended) for any disruptions to his plans. Now that his dilemma has been solved and the demons have been conquered, we're actually gonna see the best written character in One Piece (at least in my opinion, don't bash me) go crazy again. Bro really is the sleeper agent of Germa, a Splinter Cell even.
Thank God for that. Thriller Bark to Fishman Island was extremely rough for me as a Sanji fan.

@@A.S._Trunksimo thriller bark sanji wasn’t bad since he was willing to sacrifice himself for the crew when faced against kuma. Sabaody sanji was also normal since he was just trying to help the crew escape and survive against the pacifistas. Fishman island tho was a tough time to be a sanji fan even tho he was in hell for 2 years the way he was portrayed at fishman island was down horrendous. Luckily in punk hazard he was fine once the whole body swap thing stopped and when he was leading the marines that was cool. Dressrosa was actually cool too with the viola love story and saving the crew from doffy even if he got defeated he stalled up until law came. And then he lead the rest of the straw hats to zou where his real story begins.

The most dynamic character in the series in my opinion.
There are so many layers and dimensions to this character when other strawhats usually represent only one kind of charm each.

Even now, in-universe almost nobody understands how dangerous Sanji really is. It's not just that he's one of the Straw Hats' 3 top fighters. Everybody still underestimates his infiltration skills.

For example whenever Luffy and Zoro are on the prototype sea train Luffy and Zoro both destroyed a typhoon 🌀 together whereas Sanji’s not able to do that until Egghead Island, another example would be how Kaku, Blueno, and Lucci being much much stronger than Jabra and Zoro and Luffy kicked their asses effortlessly, another example would be how Zoro destroyed all of the sea train carts and beat T.Bone as well, and even Sanji’s plan of destroying the switch for Enies Lobby’s switch to get them outside of Enies Lobby is copy/pasted from Bon Clay’s plan in Impel Down, so clearly Zoro is the much better character than Sanji because Sanji was only as good as Zoro as Mr.Prince and Sabo Mask.

Sanji has been my favorite since he comboed Kurobi's ass in Arlong park. He is the only one of the monster trio with brain and brawn combo. Zoro and Luffy got instinct but my man Sanji is a strategist. He saved everyone from Crocodile twice, raided the sea train solo and helped everyone escape pennies lobbies by closing the gates. Sanji has been the MVS for me for a long time and always will be.

One thing I appreciate about Sanji is that, despite his noticeable and reproachable flaws, he seldom lets down his comrades. While he may be an impressive character, he consistently reminds us of his humanity and the continuous learning and growth he still has ahead, even if it doesn't necessarily involve enhancing his combat skills. This is akin to Usopp's situation, but in reverse. Usopp, a character grounded in common sense within a fantastical world, displays extraordinary abilities that border on the superhuman when he shines.

I love all the comments saying Zoro was their favorite until a certain Sanji moment, cause I was the same way, though I fell in love with Sanji when he was first introduced. I loved his design, his fighting style, his dynamic with the rest of the kitchen staff, and his reaction to Zoro's fight with Mihawk solidified it. Now that I'm a chef myself I got to stay faithful to my man Sanji. Zoro's still my #2 though, and their dynamic is probably my favorite in the entire show
Sometimes I think Sanji is just slightly underrated imo. Ppl always talk about Luffy, Zoro, or Robin and forget that this guy gets so much work done and has no trouble doing it alone. yes they see him as part of the monster trio but, at times, that's all they see in him.
Remember this guy has the brains and brawn and still has the chore to cook for the entire crew, not to mention Luffy's huge appetite. (not that it's a problem to him tho)
Love your editing and commentary! This saga catapulted the characterization of all the Straw Hats sky high. Oda really knows how to draw the empathy out for characters you might not expect.
Sanji's such an amazing character. I feel like the simping aspect gets focused on a lot but he's got so much more than that.
Now i kinda understand his quote “real men can forgive the lies women tell”. When I was young it sounded very cringy but now it makes sence. For me it is pointless to hate someone you will never see again. Like I've been cheated and by forgiving her it does'nt mean that I accept her back. I just move on. It also helps with other girls cause if you did'n forgive your ex, you will become very controlly and distrustfull. It is gonna ruin your relationship and might be the reason to become incel. Hatred will not lead to good. Just move on.
Hard disagree. Forgiving and moving on aren't always the same. You can accept another girlfriend even if you don't forgive your ex. Sanji didn't forgive Judge but that didn't stop him from recognising Zeff as his father. Forgiveness shouldn't be given to someone who still hasn't learned.

I forgot how great a character sanji is. The problem is, this was oda's peak. It was the perfect arc where the stakes were all built up perfectly.
You've got the storm of the century, a crazy team of government killers who kidnapped a friend, the revival of an ancient weapon, trains that drive on the water, 100k troops getting defeated.
All of this couldn't have been overcome by the straw hats themselves.
Luffy needed a way to get there. Luffy needed to be reassured that Robin wasn't a traitor. And luffy needed his crew to set everything up for him to shine.
This is why water 7 is the best arc. It was perhaps one of the last arcs where oda's ingenuity would shine. Because now he relies on the tropes he created and the crews power ups to make things easier to write. He replaced novel ideas and experiences with scale.
He replaced aspects such as sanjis heroism, with dragon ball z like fights where the characters are flying around at mach speed punching eachother through buildings.
Gone are the days when guys like sanji will act heroically and cool. Because now we're in a story where luffy is all of a sudden a sun god 😂
Oh well I'll just remember water 7 as a whole fondly

Zoro is there to protect the crew and as Luffy's First Mate but Sanji's key ability is that he is strong enough to go off alone, handle business and get something done behind the scenes without worrying any of the other Strawhats.

If you really think about it, Water 7 is the only arc where EVERYONE in the crew had or showed a very major or significant character development. Luffy vs. Usopp. Zoro on loyalty. Sanji standing up for his values. Nami gaining confidence in herself and the crew to fight. Franky being inspired. Merry. Chopper being a little braver/closer to the crew and with normal people (I argue Oda's least favorite), and of course Robin.
It was less of an adventure and just more about the crew dynamics and relationships.

sanji been carrying since elbaph~alabasta. he organized the plan outside of rainbase to get back the strawhats and funny as it is, overcame his “weakness,” defeating bon clay. just like he did on the ark maxim, messing with the ship’s circuits + tracking down robin and getting on the train in water 7 + closing the gates of justice on ennies lobby, he always knows how to work behind the scenes and succeed. in addition to that, his capabilities in combat does not fall any short of his immense brain power. he’s highly underrated considering the number of times he’s come in clutch in tough situations. everyone been hyping up zoro n shit, and dont get me wrong i love him, but sanji is just wayyyyyyy better imo. even the baratie arc + sanji and zeff’s back story was the most touching and impactful in all of the east blue saga.
