I have not tried it on upholstery but I soaked my heat exchanger in a vinegar and salt solution to remove rust. Maybe just try some vinegar and then wash with soap to get rid of the vinegar sent. From what I have read online, acids are the best rust removers. Good luck!

To clean my disgusting cushions I simply took the covers off and dropped them off to a dry cleaners . Then I left the foam to air out . Then to refresh the covers I put them in dye of the same colour and the 30 year old cushions looked like new . Pro tip for getting them back on the foam is to put a plastic bag over the foam sow they can slide on .

Great tips, I can imagine that would make them look brand new! Unfortunately for us, our cushion zippers have corroded off, so we cannot take the covers off to clean them. Otherwise, I would have loved to do something like this!

Anchor chain should be fixed to boat with rope in case you have to cut away in an emergency

That's a good idea, didn't even think of that

It may of helped making a paste with either lemon juice and baking soda or baking soda and spot treatment and spread the paste on work a little in on worst bits and leave over night then clean off

😂😂😂😂😂 14 degrees in the 🇬🇧 that’s an ok day 24 in a lovely day. 14 degrees at night would be very comfortable, & I live in the south. Don’t get me wrong regular 90 on The Big Island I can do forever if possible. 😊😊

I'm enjoying watching your journey. We are in Calgary hoping to get a boat in 2 years when we retire. Looking forward to see you eventually splash down. And yes -14C can feel cold, especially with the humidity.

It can also help if you leave the solution a bit longer to soak and brush it lightly before vacuuming it.

Good videos! In what yard are you doing the work and who have you chosen to do the extensive and expensive engine and saildrive replacement?

Thank you! We are working in Shearwater Boatyard in Fort Pierce Florida. We have gone with Melbourne Marine Diesel, who are Volvo Penta dealers; so far we have had a good experience.

You used the Bissell completely backwards, and it looks like you used it without the proper solution in it. There should have been a slight foaming action with the cleaning solution. The spray nozzle, along with the Bissell cleaning solution, works by lifting and suspending dirt as the surface is being vacuumed over. You should have ran the vacuum across the surface at an upward angle while spraying the surface simultaneously. White distilled vinegar will remove the rust staining, as well as CLR cleaner. Keep up the good work and keep learning. You guys have got this.

Thanks for the tips! The instruction manual said to use non-foaming solution so that’s why we went with the Pet Stain and Odor product, it seems to have done the job! We will try those tips out on the rust staining and using the vacuum in the future. Thank you for the support!

@@SailingLoon Oh, OK. That unit must be different than the professional units I used. The clean solution that came with ours had a very fine light foaming agent to help lift and suspend dirt and debris until the vacuum head sucked it up. Cool, keep up the good work.

Better Delivery. Ending had a little too much faux drama. But better overall.
    Keep going.
