I carried a similar light for ten years. Now I have USB LED lights that I get from AliExpress or Temu or Amazon that are rectangular and have magnetic tails and simple UI. I love the rectangular shape compared with round of tubular shape in the pocket, especially if you have to lie on the ground for anything

Dipping it in Tuaca is a fantastic idea!!
I've owned quite a few Streamlights in the past 23 yrs, and they've all been pretty good to me. Able to withstand MANY drops. Maybe my favorite thing about them is you can buy every piece individually to rebuild them. And if you find a tool truck or a dealer that likes you, they'll even replace worn-out switches and modules and things for free, under their lifetime warranty. I've had a few of mine rebuilt this way.

I'll have to look into the lifetime warranty thing.

i got 4 flashlights from ebay once called "probe shiny", they're green and use a single 18650 inside, and the tail screws off to reveal a USB-A that you can plug in wherever. had them for almost a decade and none of them have failed, they cost about 5USD each free shipping. how times have changed

I have used my light for 20 plus years and now I'm carrying the USB light. Thank for sharing 👍👍🪛🪛🔧🔧

You're welcome. Yeah, I'm considering the USB version if I can get over the press and hold to change the brightness thing.

This is my favorite edc flashlight as well! Props to you though for keep one for 20 years. I think I’m on number 6 since I lose about one a year.

I've lost mine a few times. The original was sitting under the crawlspace for over a year one time. Thankfully the battery didn't leak. One got run over sitting in a gravel road by the mailbox overnight. I think I had a 3rd one at one time that I lost permanently.

@@ballinator I’ve never had much luck with finding mine since I’m a park ranger and have always lost them in the 3,500 acres of my park. But I did have miracle this past winter. I lost my rechargeable version of the micro stream splitting wood. I checked the area I had split it in once and didn’t find it. But I came back a month later and found it. It had been sitting outside the whole time and still works like a champ.

My current EDC inspection light is an OLIGHT i5T Plus (2 AA) and it's fantastic. Just barely longer than the Streamlight you showcased, but it has 4 different brightness modes ranging from 15 lumens, to a whopping 550!!!! 🤯🤯🌞
Streamlights are great, and I've owned quite a few. But I love OLIGHT flashlights more. Olight offers the same quality of Streamlight, but they're brighter, less expensive, and let you choose a plethora of battery options. ♥️

I've heard a lot of good things about Olight. I think I'm too 'old school' - the multi mode stuff always frustrates me.

@@ballinator You never have to explain would you like. I usually like multimode flashlights, but the way Streamlight does it frustrates me. No matter what mode you have theirs set to, when you turn it off and on again it goes back to high power mode. Which eats up a lot of battery, and takes 5 more seconds to put it back down on a lower setting. A huge waste.
But not with Olight. The processors inside their devices remember the light mode setting you have it on, and allows you to turn it off and on and always puts it back on the last mode you had it on. I really love that feature!

@@ballinator I currently have 4 Olights. Though you can prob find just as many Streamlights around me too. And I've had more of each, and numerous other brands. Such as Surefire, Eagle Tac, and Fenix, etc. It's a must for daily use being an automotive tech for over 20 yrs.
Eagle Tac would have been my second favorite (performance-wise), but their big downfall was I couldn't get individual parts like switches and such, to rebuild mine when they worn out. Unlike Streamlight and Olight.

Interesting idea. I'll have to keep that in mind.

The USB ones are very tempting. I'm afraid the multi-mode thing would drive me nuts though.
