They removed that and crazy beach this year to make room for that boring ride called 'SkyBender' which is just a combination of the 'Enterprise' and 'swing ride'. It won't be a popular move.
When I was up on that catwalk beside the track, I wish someone had told me to walk down the first drop backwards! It's scarier going down on foot than it is in the train! (Also, if you ever get the chance to do that, wear gloves - part of what makes it so scary is worrying about splinters from the handrail.) I remember when they used to run all three trains. What an amazing thing to watch! The trains never came to a full stop in the unloading area - people just tumbled out as they (the trains, that is) rolled slowly forward to the loading platform. It was unbelievable that they ever did it, and no surprise that they don't anymore. Does anyone miss the Wild Mouse? Now *_THAT_* was scary!
I remember back in the day when there were 3 trains going and if you wanted to go round again, just stay sitting. The staff weren't able to do much if you didn't want to get out of the car so they let it go most of the time. And yes, the back is where you want to sit for sure!!

@@DownieLive No, the experience felt like the log flume splashdown but 100% of the time and since the track is slippery, it goes faster. I also operated Bug Whirled recently as well. All the ride op's could test ride the coaster before the park opened.
Heck, yes!! I was on the Comet at Meyers Lake in Canton, Ohio and, it started to rain. When we came into the station, we sailed right through the brakes and got another ride for free!!!
The rain is actually what allowed me to ride this coaster 30 times straight about 20 years ago. I had a Playland season pass and went a lot, but when it rained obviously less people would show up and there would be no lines, but because this ride needed to maintain a certain weight according to them, it allowed me to ride this over and over again, will always remember that because this was one of my favorite thrill rides.
Living in Vancouver, I remember a long time ago when I was tall enough to ride that wooden roller coaster the one thing I'll always remember on that hot summer day was the distinct smell of Douglas fir, beautiful!
i actually work at bugs whirrled right now, just did a shift today operating it too. it's cool to see a video dating only 5 years back of my ride and the differences between playland then and now
Cool. Nice coverage of the historical Wooden Roller Coaster. Actually, you get more air time in the front seat and more whipping around in the back. A ride as a single rider is much different than a ride with a friend. Good to know they can adjust the speed on each wheel as our roller coaster club ACE (American Coaster Enthusiasts) love to ride it in full speed mode during our event riding time at coaster events. 😊
