Thank you for capturing a day on the water with our volunteer marine search and rescue crews, Michael! It was an absolute pleasure to have you on board
I don’t know how you come up with these adventures Michael but I sure am glad that you do. What a fun day that must have been. Plus, a big thanks to all those people that volunteer their time and talent to assist people and keep the waters safe!!!
Huge shout out to the people that keep us safe in the bush on the water to that crew that volunteers there time thank you and thank you for going with them and showing us what they do everyday love you channel keep doing what you're doing all the best to you and yours
For most of my life I hve lived on the island and I have nothing but respect for these guys. I have done a decent amount of boating and it is always a good feeling knowing that we have both the coast guard and the RCMSAR guys ready to help you if you get into trouble. Thank you for being there for all boaters and a special thank you to everyone who volunteers their time to protecting others!
Excellent to see the Canadian SAR team, I have been part of the RNLI for over 22 years now its also a voluntary rescue service. Hope all the SAR teams stay safe over the coming year.
Fascinating to see that you have a volunteer organisation too. Here in the UK we have the Royal National Lifeboat Institution which has been operating since 1824 and I am proud to be a volunteer in my local fund raising shop in Penzance Cornwall where our local Lifeboat station is the Penlee based in Newlyn.
You should look into getting to follow on training a forest fire crew. You might not be able to go out with a crew to a fire but love to see some of the training or the logistics of them.
The last time I watched those fireworks, Vancouver had weekly shows put on by a different country. The final show was with all the countries contributing. Fireworks that burst in the shape of flowers, dancing like I have never seen before. As a small child well into my 40's our family were professional pyrotechnics. We put on fire works shows. Canada does it right with their shows.
The Grands Feux Loto Québec in Québec City are pretty awesome too! Check them out if you have a chance. Loved this year's Celebration of Light, though it has been reduced due to some people "complaining about the noise and traffic", hence only 3. The 1st ones i saw was in 1997 and i couldn't believe the crowds! 🎇
Mike deepest respect for these people. They do a huge service, and very needed! I made my living for 35 years on the ocean in Massachusetts servicing boats owned by many people who should never have gone out beyond the harbor. It was a good living! Awesome video! 👍👍👍
This was a really great way to see into the lives of our search & rescue. Loved seeing Vancouver. That was neat seeing the radar showing all the boats around you. Amazing technology we have today. So good to see you. Hope you are well. I liked this video.
Usually, one waits till a Saturday but I don’t mind this because it’s going to be fun which is what this channel is all about. P.S. I like the Visual of Vancouver Harbour being crowded.
G'day Mike from downunder. This clip has filled another gap in the places in Vancouver I haven't got to....well, not below about 10000ft anyway. Indian Arm and Deep Cove are away from the usual visitor destinations unless one knows somebody who has a boat. What a great way to reveal this beautiful part of the upper Burrard Inlet to us. And you got to qualify basic training to go out for the fireworks night. This was a great way to promote the Royal Canadian Marine Search and Rescue organisation and the great work they do in such settings as a busy harbour during summer. Thanks so much for sharing this one with us. I'm sure our own water police in Melbourne and Sydney would appreciate seeing this.😀
Amazing video, my grandpa was a navigator for the Coast Guard. That was the exact day I came back from up the coast at Powell River and Sechelt and watched the fireworks right after.
Hi there and greetings from Finnish sea rescue society. It's winter time so we are now resting for next season to come. Nice to see that RCM-SAR rehearsals are wery much same as here in Finland. Great job!
Hey, Mike! Nice to see you again.. I haven't watched your videos for the last 3 weeks but I am back.. And it is truly nice👍 I enjoyed your last ride😀 thanks and see you soon 🙏
I watched the fireworks this year. There are lots of responsible boaters and lots of irresponsible boaters. Saw a paddleboarder fall into the water a couple times before the fireworks (did make it back onto the paddleboard each time). No lifejacket, no lights.
I washed the fireworks and wondered about those boats so now I know thank you for volunteering your time. Given all the fires around the world is it time for waterworks and snow blowers that put out fires? Downie, Apex mountain had a fire recently and nobody is saying how the snow blower helped to reduce humidity and help reduce fires on Apex could you look into that for me? Thanks so much for all the volunteers throughout BC that help us all.
Second? Every time Downie uploads a video, the first thing I do is send it to my friend. We both love your videos, always makes our day. Thanks! Keep uploading...
Well done Mike! Your videos are always great and whenever there is a friend looking for different things to do I usually watch your videos again and recommend my friends to do the same. Thank you! :)
Awesome video Mike! I just recently received my ROC-M for work. I hear these type of calls often. Definitely worth checking out the course and adult sailing courses if that's something that interests you! I see the Brigs tall ships at work as well; I hear they have adult courses!
Ocean Rescue is a very rough profession that requires people with generous helpings of brawn and brain, who take the already difficult profession of rescue and emergency medicine and add the fact that now you're on a loud, undulating, and awkward to work on fast boat Respect!
It’s necessary to hydrate when near or on a water body because you don’t want to go ‘Water, Water everywhere but not a drop to drink’ in the middle of nowhere.
Hiya Micheal, you might want to give a shout out to SmarterEveryDay, who did an excellent explanation of the search patterns used during marine SAR operations.
That view while in the water.. with all the trees on the mountains, buildings while at the inwater gas station which I never seen before.. I'd love to see that in person.. but I'm in Wisconsin only thing inbetween me and Canada is lake superior which i have seen but would like to swim in that lake but.. close to shore
Centre of expanding square search patter should always be moving with the current. Doing a square search pattern with a fixed centre point when there is a current won't be effective.
How about doing a story on a grand train station in canada ? Do it on Christmas eve and show the station inside and out as well as train action and interview passengers as they wait for their train. I enjoy your enthusiasm. Carry on. Finally : Greetings from Port Saint Lucie, Florida.
One unwritten rule in the emergency services......never say it is quiet (the Q word) or that it is slow (the S word).......lol. They probably skipped a heartbeat when ya mentioned that.... Very cool video by the way.
Hey man I would love to know how you get permission to do these things with the Coast guard I've been wanting to do something like that myself but I don't know where to start.
Mr. Downie: a questions please, is there a reason for a two week gap between post ? I have so gotten used to an every Saturday looksie and then poof gone. I enjoy your vids and especially your tour ones where they become a series. Hope you are well and looking forward to a steady Saturday stream of more vids.
Thank you for capturing a day on the water with our volunteer marine search and rescue crews, Michael! It was an absolute pleasure to have you on board

Thank you
A big thank you from all the members of RCMSAR #2 for joining us on the water and giving viewers a small glimpse of our dedicated volunteers.
i didn’t think there were different channels for different boats.. i like it

There are not enough words to tell them all, "Thank You for your help and service." Peace be with you, always be safe.
Why wouldn't anyone not put Vancouver on a travel bucket list? What outstanding community values. I'm speechless!

I had the same Idea to comment as I live in the UK

Volunteer? That is wild. Those folks deserve to be paid.

This year was Japan, Canada, and Spain.

What a beautiful area that is. So glad it was a clear, sunny day.

Hey Mike, where have you been? Missed your videos, glad to see you back. Great video, learnt a lot about RCMR. Thanks.

Ben and Mike are an underrated comedy duo 😂
God bless these brave people!
Great video! Learned so much from this video including the floating gas station. Big salute to the rescue team!!
Michael Downie living his Gardien Côtier Era is always fun to watch.
Amazing amazing video, thank you for making this and huge thanks to all these volunteers!
Amazing presentation, how nice for you to try new things. Thanks

Always enjoy your videos, no matter the content.
amazing comment
Jet boats are extremely manoeuvrable. We can do lots of tricks with them
That's just beyond spine tingling. So damn cool
Great video! Very interesting and entertaining! Thank you for the invite to come along!

the fireworks were so good!!!! I watched all 3 of them from a different vantage point. Which one was your favorite? Japan, Canada or Spain? 🎇
How exciting! Thanks for taking us along.
2:14 What a cool shot!

I concur!! Da's right I was there at the fireworks competitions, for 8 yrs, '94 to 2002 !! And what a party it was, every year !!!!! UNH HUNH !!!!
Pissed I missed it this year but it was only my 1st year back after 20 years away , in the east...
Thank you very much for a great vlog. I wish there were more footage of the fireworks.
You are so inspirational, really motivated me to be push myself out of my confort zone.
I'm so glad!
Awesome video Mike!

It's pretty cool watching this we have the coast guard here
A Vaccum Splinter? I’ve neither heard of it nor seen it but it’s a brilliant invention.
Very Cool. I work for the United Sates Coast Guard On A Heli For 8 Years.

Great to see another sea adventure !

Hi. Mike Welcome back this video was great see you next time
Great content Mike! Awesome
Mike, I'm surprised they didn't throw you overboard for saying "Quiet." Big no no. Great video!!
Would be cool to see more water rescues or water related stuff.
Woahh that was such a cool documentary!
Yeah 😀.
Another DownieLive adventure !❤️
Great content a great view of Canada's lakes. That hair has grown fast Mike
Great to see you again. Been a while. Love the video. Thanks for sharing. Your work is awesome
Awesome to see those guys at work. Also the dog definitely stole the show 😜
No doubt
Finally Mike! I am enjoying your vlogs. I am always curious as to where you are going next.
Where are the horses? 😂 seriously though looks like a fun day and thank you to those that volunteer!
Wassup Mike great video i love hanging out on the Marine Water.
The best!
@@DownieLive I know be careful out there.
That was really cool. I love seeing behind the scenes type things. Also didnt know boats could do doughnuts.😆 See you next time 😉❤
Centre of expanding square search patter should always be moving with the current. Doing a square search pattern with a fixed centre point when there is a current won't be effective.
But the centre point does move with the current. That's why they use time to designate when they should turn, not GPS coordinates.
This is New Year’s Eve in Sydney 😄 it’s funny how excited we get for fireworks 💥
Love what you do
Wow nice video 🙂 one day I am also visiting this beautiful place 🙂♥️
Excellent video
Finally the kings back 👏🏽
First downielive watching from Tisdale Saskatchewan have a safe always
I used to go the fireworks every year.
How about doing a story on a grand train station in canada ? Do it on Christmas eve and show the station inside and out as well as train action and interview passengers as they wait for their train. I enjoy your enthusiasm. Carry on. Finally : Greetings from Port Saint Lucie, Florida.
Or follow the CN Christmas train across Canada
Toronto Union Station would be the best choice, Mike. IDKWYGNBIKIBTWY.
Rescue team with extreme searching.
Wow, this was really interesting!
Glad you enjoyed it
Awesome video!
Great video as always
Love the show
Amazing!

Very cool video by the way.
Great vlog!
Some legit mustaches!
How many rescues do they responded to a year?
Great Video!
Thanks!
HE’S BACK
Brilliant first trip. What App do you use to find the speed of the trains
Dood.....the quiet radio comment. Yikes, lol.
Great video as always
Another great video! Thank you!!
p.s - 11:12 I thought we're not suppose to say things like that? or is it just for the hospital/ER ? 😆
Hey man I would love to know how you get permission to do these things with the Coast guard I've been wanting to do something like that myself but I don't know where to start.
I feel bad for all the government staff (search and rescue, vpd, fire department, etc) that have to work those nights
Nothing sounds more DownieLive than, "We're heading out with the Royal Canadian Marines." If it was on a train, would have been a grand slam.
Mr. Downie: a questions please, is there a reason for a two week gap between post ? I have so gotten used to an every Saturday looksie and then poof gone. I enjoy your vids and especially your tour ones where they become a series. Hope you are well and looking forward to a steady Saturday stream of more vids.
Keep up all the great Canadian content!
Will do!
Very cool video. Did they let you drive the jet boat? I am also proud to be a member of RCM-SAR in my area
They did not! Hahaha.
@@DownieLive that’s too bad. We have the identical jet boat and it’s a blast to operate
Very interesting video. I really enjoyed watching this. By the way, I was "like" number 950.
9:30 he kinda sounds like Peter griffin
