Mostly during winter at night while it is windy and me walking alone in an upward tile paved road listening to that. Amazing. Great motivator for every good action.

Just visited his house in Leipzig. Didn't know much about him. Now is my new love to keep discovering. He was an amazingly talented watercolorist as well, you can see his work at his house. He always brought his watercolor set where ever he traveled to.
+Sternenlicht Wagner who was jealous of his talents said some particularly nasty things about him. Wagner was Hitler`s favorite composer. This is my favorite violin concerto.
+Sternenlicht I agree. He also rediscovered J.S. Bach who had been forgotten until then. He was converted to Christianity by his father, because in those days it was impossible to proceed in life otherwise. BTW, his sister Fanny was a wonderful musician, not less than he was. Unfortunately, it was impossible for a woman to have a career outside the kitchen... Just like Clara Schuman Robert Schuman's wife.
You are right and wrong. He is the best. The Leipzig conservatory he founded was the center for musical education for the world. Where would we be if Mendelsshon-Bartholdy didn't rediscover Bach's music.
So true, re Mendelssohn being under-rated. His dying at 38 didn't help him develop his legacy. But still, the violin concerto, A Midsummer Night's Dream Suite, and Symphonies # 3 and 4, ensure his place in the pantheon of the world's finest composers.
In my opinion the best are Mendelssohn, Schumann, and of course Beethoven and Mozart. I couldn't pick a favourite out of those 4 at gunpoint. But of course, that's just my (subjective) opinion :)

Of the three major violin concertos, I think Mendelssohn's song is the best. The composition of the music, the beauty of the melody which develops gracefully, the tone of richness etc. are superior in all respects. The high degree of completion is incomparable.

I always pictured Mendelssohn as one of these boring baroque dudes with harpsichords and whatnot. I heard his violin concerto number 6 the other day and was like "what was that!?" Amazing stuff. Not at all what I expected.
I have to admit that in order for me to do cooking & house cleaning I must listen to 'beauty'. When I'm working or researching topics, the classical music relaxes my senses and it stimulates clever and great ideas and projects!

@@xglitch97 Even during that time, it would have been considered young. It's a total myth that people didn't live very long in earlier times. I have an original antique book from 1839 (a biography about Alexander Pope) and they describe someone in their 30's and 40's as being young.
An underrated composer, partly due to endemic anti-Semitism in the years up to 1945, and also because he died far too young of a stroke due to undiagnosed high blood pressure (a genetic trait in his family).
Fingal's cave was the piece of music that gave me my love of classical music and opera. It was played by our msic teacher on an old wind up gramophone. (Well I am 82!)
Helena Williams I just love your beautiful comment. You sum His work up perfectly. I can imagine he understood and knew who and what he was and where he was going. Awesome!
He helped to discover some of the underplayed works of Bach, and reintroduce them to the world. He then seriously applied the lessons inherent in Bach's work to his own compositions.
Hallie Thomas Oh, yes he very well " understood and knew who and what he was " !.. regardless of his brilliant salon-celebrated sentimental and effeminate music, he never become or being considered as real German composer .
I swear Mendelssohn is underrated today still because Richard Wagner talked shit about him and stupid people listened. Before Wagner went around trying to put him down, he was already considered among the greatest composers ever. It’s pretty pathetic that Wagner had to put down and berate other composers, so that he can style himself as a great composer in comparison to more genuinely great composers. Richard Wagner is just jealous that people can’t listen to his music for long hours without feeling the need to turn it off because it’s all terribly too much.
Classical music is like a little story being told.. whilst rock and stuff is great, too, you have a lot of repetetive parts in it. Thats why I kinda like the classics. Especially Bach und appearently Mendelssohn (Today is my first time with this lad!)
at 7:14 the build up to that violin riff, that is repeated and changed several times in the next minutes and how it gradually turns to the sound at 8:49 and the first part of the concerto comes again.... breathtaking, my favourite part
Lovely music and more than this his life is a great example that even young people contribute richly... I am sad that he was not able to life longer, but impressed by the beautiful art he had already created with such a young age. May it encourage all of us young adults to create more art.
Critter Alma Deutscher thinks music should be beautiful. A thirteen-year old with a Guarneri del Jesu on loan. Written and performed violin and piano concertos; two operas. CINDERELLA sold out its performances in San Jose instantly ... they added two. A sweet kid.

Started my research paper 1 hour four minutes and 15 seconds ago and nothing has been done. Thanks Mendelssohn.
i know dat feel
Is this the new "Thanks Obama"?
In all the pictures of Mendelssohn I see a good-natured, happy individual. I think that he is a good example of extreme genius not leading to tragedy :)
Jeho houslový koncert je ze všech houslových nejkrásnější a je mi krásně na duši při poslechu.
Glory and God's blessing for us who love Mendelssohn's works and was able to welcome 2020 safely !

Classical music is underrated
and one last comment to those who think the music is old and no one cares about it , and they'd rather listen to pitbull , well I can't imagine them getting views like Tchaikovsky(9,448,670), Shubert(1,886,675) , Brahms(1,367,670) , Strauss(1,941,660) , Beethoven(13,599,012) , and then lets not forget Mozart (28,556,592)everyone you've ever watched with your modern music combined will never get half as many views as Mozart alone . so it can't be that old and uncared for .
david belcher: well well, in fact, there are many modern music video have more view than all that classical music view combined.
Most greaceful and peaceful violin concerto .

I always pictured Mendelssohn as one of these boring baroque dudes with harpsichords and whatnot. I heard his violin concerto number 6 the other day and was like "what was that!?" Amazing stuff. Not at all what I expected.
I used to study to this music back in school. Got all my As in the final exam; I think the music had a part to play in it. :)
I use to write and it's amazing too.
I have to admit that in order for me to do cooking & house cleaning I must listen to 'beauty'. When I'm working or researching topics, the classical music relaxes my senses and it stimulates clever and great ideas and projects!
I find it strange how people listen to music to study, because when I do, I just end up getting distracted by the music and daydreaming or something.
goodie goodie
his VIOLIN CONCERTO is the best piece of classical music ever
Estonteante, incomparável, emocionante, maravilhosamente belo. Como descrever a genialidade desse artista tão raro? Músicas construídas por um homem que conheceu a D'us, e de forma magnífica! Obrigada mil vezes por terem compartilhado essa pérola.
Voce obrigado
The violin concerto makes one cry. Something about this touches every cord of the soul
maybe my favorite composer of all time...
The Italian symphony is his masterpiece in my mind. It's energizing.
I agree.
It is one of the greatest symphonies ever written.
Is he italian?
@@badalbertocastillo2779 No, that was just the name of the music. "Italy" or "Italian". He was born in Germany.
Love love LOVE Mendelssohn. His works really take me to another world. Thanks for uploading this :)
Wow, I did not know 45:39 was done by Mendelssohn. I have always loved this piece.
The intro takes my breath away
Yea same...
The Jewish personality that this man's compositions have make him one of my favorites
Genius ! Sad he passed away so young !
True, but it was the 1840s haha. Mid-30s wasn't too shabby back then.
Gracias por tu aporte buena musica para mis hijos y mi familia saludos de PERU!!!!...
Живу в провинции, спасибо за возможность послушать хорошую музыку.
Fingal's cave was the piece of music that gave me my love of classical music and opera. It was played by our msic teacher on an old wind up gramophone. (Well I am 82!)
My favorite Romantic composer. Playing his organ sonatas are amazing! 🎶
Mendelssohn is the father of the Romantic Period. Love his music!
To qualify as 'Father' of the "Romantic Period", Felix would have to have been born at least 50 years earlier.
grew up listening to mendelssohn, bruch etc. and have to say there is nothing that gets me more than this.
Mendelssohn is such a bejewelled beauty of HARMONY...
Without Mendelssohn, you might have never heard of Bach.
Il n'y à qu'un Stradivarius pour me faire pleurer pour la beauté du son !
Mendelssohn, c'est vraiment un monument! 53:45, magnifique!!!
at 7:14 the build up to that violin riff, that is repeated and changed several times in the next minutes and how it gradually turns to the sound at 8:49 and the first part of the concerto comes again.... breathtaking, my favourite part
Had always been a huge fan of Niccolo Paganini’s violin compositions...then along comes Mendelssohn! Wow!
Lovely music and more than this his life is a great example that even young people contribute richly... I am sad that he was not able to life longer, but impressed by the beautiful art he had already created with such a young age. May it encourage all of us young adults to create more art.
Gracias por mandar esta maravillosa musica Mexico
Beautiful music, I started listening when I so little
Beautiful music except from 57:30 that scares the hell out of me...
That is the Wedding March. Marriage is not too scary after all...
I know what you mean brother, I know what you mean... :/
Marriage is the scariest thing my friend ;)
The scherzo is scarier.
thank you for scaring me.
Thanks for posting, the good old days of music when music didn't suck!
Critter Alma Deutscher thinks music should be beautiful. A thirteen-year old with a Guarneri del Jesu on loan. Written and performed violin and piano concertos; two operas. CINDERELLA sold out its performances in San Jose instantly ... they added two. A sweet kid.
Instant magiques, que du bonheur a écouter plusieurs fois
Uplifting, and sweet and gentle. Well played!!! THANKS.

I agree about this composer. He has been underated.
